Vision

Our vision is to create a landmark for excellence in knowledge-based entrepreneurship, elevating the Copenhagen Region to becoming a powerful growth engine with significant regional, national, and international impact, thereby fostering a dynamic entrepreneurship eco-system, which pools private, public and international partners with our three universities.

Mission

Our mission is to develop a collaborative university alliance, where students and staff across academic disciplines are engaged in knowledge-based value creation.

We build on the high academic excellence present at our universities, and we are working to strengthen the entrepreneurial knowledge, mind and skill-set among students and staff, in order to become a powerhouse of knowledge-based innovation and entrepreneurship.

11_Tracking

The Startup Database is an open access database that tracks university startups. The Startup Database provides an important overview and detailed insights on the numbers and nature of university startups and will be used to improve university support for student startups.

08_Seed financing

ERA - The Entrepreneurship Research Accelerator calls for research proposals, delivering DKK 1.8 mio. in seed-financing.

07_Multidisciplinary programmes

EEP - The Entrepreneurship Excellence Programmes are three novel multidisciplinary academia-industry training programmes focused on creating knowledge-based value and fostering entrepreneurial skill- and mindset among students. Each offers master level courses and international summer schools. The three programmes are:

Green Innovation in Cities, Digital Services Innovation and Food Entrepreneurs

10_Training

Through the Network for Entrepreneurial Teachers and Researchers, CIEL will deliver a 50% increase in teachers who are trained in entrepreneurship didactics.

09_Support system

In order to support and enhance the existing entrepreneurship environment, CIEL is working closely with student incubators and organisations across the three universities in order to implement 7 projects. The projects include:

06_Research collaborations

CIEL will complete 3 national and 3 international research workshops to identify and form new cross-institutional research collaborations. CIEL connects to a network of leading international universities, including some of the World’s best research institutions within entrepreneurship and innovation.

01_3 Universities

CIEL builds on a collaboration between 3 prime universities in the Capital Region.

The Technical University of Denmark, University of Copenhagen and Copenhagen Business School.

05_Funding

CIEL is funded by The European Social Fund, VækstForum Hovedstaden and the three partner universities, for a total of DKK 36 mio. The project is funded for a two-year period from 2011 to 2013.

03_Organisation

The CIEL organisation is designed to secure impact, effectiveness, visibility, and coordination. CIEL’s organisation consists of:

CIEL´s project portfolio consists of 9 projects addressing research, edu-cation and student entrepreneurial activities. Key to each project is a novel approach to knowledge-based entre-preneurship built on cross-disciplinarity and linking theory to practice.
