Cigány Weaver Contact: 0402424089 (Rory Dollard) Email: [email protected], [email protected] Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/ciganyweavermusic Bio: Formed from a love of Django Reinhardt, Sigourney Weaver and red wine, Cigány Weaver have been entertaining crowds from south east Queensland since their formation at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in early 2015. Whilst always paying homage to the Jazz Manouche style that they adore, the 6 piece ensemble incorporates influences that range from traditional Romani music, to modern artists such as Björk. The dynamic nature of their live performances invoke an array of toe-tapping, from the subtle tap to the carefree exuberant stomp of the dance floor. Profiles: Jo Davie - Jo Davie is currently in her second year of studying Jazz Voice at the Conservatorium, but also performs many different styles of music. This includes writing and performing her own original songs which draw of jazz, folk and pop influences. Gareth Mewes - Gareth has been playing violin since age 4, and has developed a keen interest in traditional folk music. He has performed at many festivals throughout Australia,and is currently involved in numerous ensembles in Brisbane while finishing classical/jazz music degree. Connor McDonald - Connor has been playing the guitar since an early age. He is involved in various groups around brisbane playing music of all genres including, big bands, Jazz, folk, and Gypsy Music. Liam Butler - Liam is a versatile Bass player involved in the Brisbane music scene for a number of years playing in various groups including, Brazillian, Hip Hop, Swingjazz, fusion, and Gypsy. Rory Dollard - Rory has been playing the guitar since aged 10, and has developed a keen ear for music. His love of all styles and genres has led him to study flamenco, manouche, and jazz music. He puts these studies into practice by gigging regularly around the mid north coast, and brisbane regions.
