INTRODUCTION
Change is the one constant factor for many organisations. All kinds of changes can affect your office and work environment, directly impacting your business. There is a growing focus on health, well-being and performance.
In addition, globalisation and the Internet of Things have changed the way we do business. Resources are becoming scarce and as a result, companies are working towards sustainable entrepreneurship.
Keeping up with these trends calls for a certain dynamism within your work environment. The number of employees may vary, and how they interact can differ too.
Are you looking for maximum flexibility in the workplace?
If the answer is yes, then CIMO offers the perfect solution for you. This unique desk collection has been specially designed to withstand the test of time.
HOW YOU CAN BENEFIT FROM CIMO
• Design your own: a wide range of options to give your interior an individual look that suits your organisation.
• Future proof: CIMO is easy to adapt to your future needs, while being environmentally friendly. The frame, for example, is fully recyclable. Redundant components can be easily returned to Gispen; this is how we work towards a circular economy together.
• Optimal use: the integrated innovative technology has made it possible to create a unique and sleek design, but also ensures that CIMO uses no energy at all.
• Ergonomics: varying postures while working improves the well-being of your employees.
• Circular entrepreneurship: designed to guarantee future returns and reuses, with CIMO you will join Gispen in contributing to the circular economy.
• Clever workstation: well-organised cable management ensures a safe and tidy place of work.
• Adaptable on site: workstations which can easily be adapted on site at any time, will save you transportation costs and will result in fewer workplace disruptions.
What is it that makes CIMO so different from other workstations?CIMO derives its name from the innovative combination of its ‘circular’ and ‘modular’ characteristics. The CIMO desk collection combines peerless sustainability with clever design. Not to mention its smart adjustment mechanism, as well as a unique design that supports a healthy way of working. Flexible, quick and simple to operate, CIMO allows you to freely alternate between sitting and standing at your desk.

A personal touchThe CIMO workstation comes in many forms. Its basic design is sleek and modern; you can combine endlessly from an extensive assortment of components to give each desk a personal touch. Choose from a wide range of colours and tabletop finishes; modules and accessories can be added or left out. Add some warmth to a workstation by adding a fabric dividing screen. Are you looking for a more natural look? Why not opt for the multiplex top?
This way you can give CIMO your own distinctive look. The optional modules have been designed in such a way that you can create a personalised CIMO workstation time after time. Great attention to detail has gone into the CIMO furniture collection. The distinctive design of the exposed connector is an example of how proud we are of its modular abilities. While the unique frame of only four centimetres thick is the perfect example of slenderness and innovation.

MODULARMODULAR
Future proofIn the ever changing business environment, this versatile and modular system ensures that CIMO meets all the workplace requirements of today, as well as those of tomorrow. The basic structure of CIMO stands, but its function and appearance can be easily changed to suit new requirements, even after several years of use. This is made possible due to its modular connections; everything is put together via screw-, magnet- and snap-on connections. No special tools are required for (dis)assembly.
One of many options available is to upgrade a single workstation to a workstation for-two, or the other way around. Convert an open working area into a private working area by adding dividing screens, or simply change the colour scheme.
With just a few connection points, changing the setup of the workstation from sit-sit to sit-stand (or the other way around) couldn’t be simpler. This enables your employees to change postures regularly, preventing possible health issues.
Moreover, CIMO adapts easily to different working methods. From working individually to working together and from focusing to consulting. CIMO offers the perfect solution for “agile” working, such as Scrum.
UNIVERSAL FRAME PROVIDES ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
15 14
The frame has a profile of only four
centimetres! A workstation for-two to accommodate different needs? Why not install sit-stand on one side and sit-sit on the other?
17 16
What is your favourite way of working? We spend many hours a day at our desks, so a pleasant environment is vital to our well-being and happiness. A comfortable work posture, good acoustics, the right lighting, user friendliness and materials and colours that contribute to a pleasant atmosphere – they are all equally as important. Design your perfect workstation with CIMO.
Have everything within arm’s reachNothing is as frustrating as having to crawl under a desk to find a power socket or USB port. CIMO makes working in the digital era simple; it offers a practical solution by offering power and data from the tabletop.
Concentrating and working togetherHaving the right balance between being able to concentrate and communicate with colleagues is crucial. CIMO will help you find the perfect balance. You can choose between dividing screens of different heights, which have the added benefit of improving the acoustics of the room. You can also choose between an open or closed structure.
OPTIMAL USEOPTIMAL USE
There’s no accounting for tasteWe all have different ideas about what is comfortable or
aesthetically pleasing . We understand that there is no accounting for taste. Because of this, we offer a wide range of
shapes, colours and materials for the CIMO furniture collection. Mix and match to form your ideal workstation and optimal setup.

Varying postures is healthySitting at a desk for long periods of time is unhealthy. But our necessity to working with computers means that we are basically stuck to our desks. Being able to vary between a seated and standing position is essential for our well-being, and this is exactly what CIMO does best - quickly, easily and cost effectively.
Gispen breaks new ground with CIMO. We have developed a revolutionary
manual quick-adjust system that is integrated into the frame. The crank handle adjusts the desk by no less than 3 cm with each rotation, a massive improvement compared to systems that have been available up until now, which only adjust by 3 mm per rotation. Operating the crank handle and varying work postures will allow you to stay in motion behind your desk. Add the Gispen Sportable, and you are guaranteed better health at the office. Tip of the day
Vary between a seated and a standing position on a regular basis. Take regular
breaks and try to get some exercise by using the Gispen Sportable.

Phase 4Recycling
End-of-life furniture is taken apart and
the various materials are separated and sorted,
which are then reused.
Gispen regularly checks whetherthe client wishes to keep the product. If not, Gispen will make the product available to another user.

Returns & reuseGispen fully embraces the circular economy and it is because of this philosophy that we take account of future returns and reuse possibilities in the initial stages of the design. Gispen stands for high-quality products and we remain responsible for those products throughout their lifecycles, while reducing waste production where possible. We will take back your CIMO furniture when it has reached the end of its lifecycle, after which we will repurpose it or refurbish it to brand-new.
AmbitionWhile Gispen aims to produce 100% circular products, we are well aware that the market is not quite ready for that yet. We therefore use the circular model to demonstrate what we can achieve. We value CIMO at four stars due to a circular score of 75%, which we are very proud of. And it goes without saying that we will continue to improve CIMO and fulfil our ambition.
Circular servicesGispen offers the following services in order for you to make optimal use of your CIMO workstation.• CIMO is installed by skilled Gispen
fitters, allowing you to get to work right away.
• Preventive maintenance will ensure that your workstation is always at its highest utility.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS The closed loop prevents
waste production during the manufacturing process. The energy supplied during this process comes
from a renewable source.
(REVERSED) LOGISTICS Our transportation methods
are optimised, we work closely together with our suppliers, use either acquired or mined local
resources and manufacture/refurbish and recycle our products locally.
This all results in a minimum strain on the environment.
REUSE Products, parts or components
that have come to the end of their lifecycles are given a new purpose. Products do need to meet certain
design requirements to be viable for reuse.
MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADES We extend the life
of products by means of (un)planned regular
maintenance but also take care of value retention by adding or removing components to improve a product’s functionality
or design. MATERIALS We strive to prevent waste production. We select our
materials upon their suitability for reuse and level of energy
consumption. We also use renewable resources and
non-toxic substances.
(DIS)ASSEMBLY Ease of disassembly is taken
into account during the design of complex products and interchangeable modules,
parts and components. This way, the materials are used efficiently and retain
their value.
LOGISTICS During the design process we already take a product’s
packaging into consideration to reduce its volume,
weight and waste. This method is good for the
environment and reduces transportation damages.

Cable managementA workstation without a PC or laptop is unthinkable in today’s office environment. Proper cable management provides a safe and tidy place of work. The CIMO range offers a wide variety of cabling options. If there is need for a higher capacity, CIMO will adapt and facilitate that change. By following a few simple steps, we can make CIMO meet every requirement you may have: 1. The way power is supplied differs per
organisation. CIMO offers a solution for every method of power supply.
2. Power supply is provided by a single cord which is routed through a spacious cable duct. Straightforward and efficient, due to cleverly placed openings for access.
3. The flexible cable tubing ensures that cords and cables stay neatly tucked away. If you adjust the position of the workstation, the flexible tubing will move with it. You can position the flexible tube wherever you want due to the cleverly designed magnetic cable holder.
4. We offer different sized cable ducts to provide a solution for every organisation.
5. There are different options for how you wish to have the power and data supply arranged from the tabletop.
6. Monitors can be fitted to the tabletop via a monitor arm. The clever design ensures that the tabletop keeps its extendable function for easy access to the cable duct.
7. Would you like to change your arrangement of cords and cables at a later point in time? You can! CIMO’s slidable top allows you to access all your cords and cables with a single push of a button. A plug-and-play system for the user and the ICT expert.

Smart investmentCIMO’s clever construction offers many advantages. One of which is the quick and easy installation of the workstations, assuring a swift delivery or exchange procedure. Adapting your workstations is also an easy process, which can be done on site.
The CIMO range consists of a number of fixed modules, allowing you to change the appearance or function of a workstation at any given time, without having to acquire new office furniture. This will guarantee a good return on your investment.
Pay-Per-UseKeeping in mind the long lifespan and easy upgrade options, you may want
to consider a pay-per-use construction instead of acquiring CIMO. You will then pay a fixed monthly instalment and we will provide you with an optimal workstation, whenever, wherever.
Benefits• A subscription for the use of furniture• Keep track of your expenses with a fixed
monthly instalment• An affordable alternative to
procurement or lease without any high investments in advance
• Your workstation(s) always adapted to your current situation and needs.
Would you like to know more about Pay-Per-Use? Please do not hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to provide assistance.

FUN FACTS
OFFICE TRENDSMost organisations change their interior every eight years or so. After all, colours
and designs are sensitive to trends. Does this sound familiar to you? In
which case, it is good to know that with CIMO – and all its variations – you are
set for the foreseeable future.
PUT IT DOWN TO EXPERIENCEGispen has been actively involved in the field of sustainability for many years. In 1977, Gispen designed the ST furniture line, or ‘SchakelTafel’ (link table). Removable table legs and tops offered unlimited configurations. A kind of Legofor facility managers.
ENDURANCE TESTWe have put CIMO through an endurance test in which we moved the desk up and down 10,000 times (from sitting to standing and back), with no maintenance required. This means that you can use your CIMO desk for 20 years without having to worry about a thing!
EASY ADJUSTMENT
Via CIMO’s crank handle you can adjust your desk height by no less than 3 cm
in just one rotation, setting the new benchmark for speed and ease of use as
well as making electronically powered adjustment redundant. Not only is our
adjustment system user-friendly, it is also sustainable and cost-effective.
FUN FACTS
YOU HAVE A DELIVERY!The modular system makes it possible to transport CIMO in a flat position (flatly-packed), which not only saves costs but also reduces CO2
emissions due to efficient transport.

THE DESIGNER
PETER DE BOER
Peter de Boer (1952) studied Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design at the Rietveld Academy. He worked as a freelance designer for a short while before he became affiliated with Gispen, where he has been working as a
product designer since the 1980s.
THE DESIGNER
What do you stand for as a designer?I consider quality and sustainability to be of vital importance. My philosophy is not about tempting clients with a continuous stream of new products. I believe that clients will continue to come back when your products have proven to withstand the test of time, retaining their quality and value. Gispen celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. This incredible accomplishment was achieved because we offer lasting quality, which I am proud to be a part of as a designer.
What does the Gispen brand mean to you? When I think of the Gispen brand, I think of continuity, quality and sustainability.
What is the idea behind CIMO?Clever furniture concepts are developed for the office of today and the future. This also holds true for the frame of the CIMO desk. You can expand or change
this universal, maintenance-free frame whenever you desire.
What does your typical day look like?As a designer, you spend a lot of time thinking about your next design. In fact,a lot of the thinking has already been done before anything gets drafted.
In Culemborg, one of my daily routines is to assist the factory workers in manufacturing my designs. I will also have one or two meetings with colleagues from, for instance, the sales department and I am on the road quite a lot. I’m practically the company’s historian because of my long service record here.
I know all about the products we have created in the past, the materials we use today and the various options we have on offer. I can therefore get involved in business meetings with (potential) clients, which I really enjoy taking part in.
A WORD OF ADVICE FROM THE DESIGNERListen to the people around you but follow your own path.
CLEVER FURNITURE CONCEPTS ARE DEVELOPED FOR THE OFFICE OF
TODAY AND THAT OF THE FUTURE. THIS ALSO HOLDS TRUE FOR CIMO.
