• May is a month full of festivities.

• From college graduations, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and a worldwide favorite - Cinco de Mayo (which is today!).

• Weekday holidays are a great way to break up your work week and have something to motivate you throughout the day.

• As this year it falls on a Tuesday, you’ll probably want to start celebrating earlier than you normally would so you won’t be late for work.

• Not sure where to start? Well, here are a few great places to celebrate the big Mexican holiday in New York City:

• The first spot to try is in the East Village, called Empellon Cocina.

• Complete with authentic Mexican cuisine and tasty margaritas, you can’t go wrong at this restaurant.

• Their number one hit on the menu (along with the six different flavored tacos) is a spicy cucumber margarita that includes jalapeno and chile salt.

• Though there is a restaurant in Soho, Murray Hill, and east Midtown, the one you’ll want to try is in the Meatpacking District because of it’s prime outdoor cafe and bar area (after all, the weather is finally beautiful in NYC).

• The items on their menu include tacos served on handmade tortillas and their signature guacamole dish.

• La Lucha NYC is the third restaurant on this list, located in the East Village.

• La Lucha is not only known for it’s authentic, delicious cuisine, but it is known for it’s simple and humble style.

• Plus - it’s cheap (appetizers start at just $3.50).

• Though you won’t find any margaritas here since La Lucha does not serve alcohol, you can indulge in horchata water, and traditional Mexican sodas.
