The KCUW-A116 system is an assembly of 2 custom made Z-shape purlins which are fixed together to form the U-stud profile. The U-stud is mechanically installed to an acoustic head bracket and base angle at the floor.

Used as independent liners back to back, the U-stud is typically lined using 4x5/8” (15.9 mm) GWTX boards on one side of U-stud using Knauf TB screws.

The Knauf KCUW-A116 wall is used as a high performing acoustic system, ultimately satisfying the highest criteria as set by cinemaoperators for auditoria walls. Built up of 2 independant liners, whilst maintaining no connection between the wall leafs ensures the systemmaximises the airborne sound transmission loss between auditoria with no direct structure borne noise transfer.

The liner consists of a vertical framework built up of U-stud profiles dimensioned and centred at max. 1200mm centres (depending on the wallheight reqirements). The U-studs are fixed to a (60 x 60 x 2.5 mm) angle at the base, and coupled at the head to an 'acousitc head bracket'.The 'head bracket' is fastened to the primary structure either into concrete or steel using the appropriate Knauf approved fixing.

To maximise performance, up to 4 layers of Knauf 15.9 mm GWTX gypsum boards are screw fixed to the open side(s), staggered horizontallyand vertically from layer to layer. The sealing of all junctions and perimeters inlcuding head and floor is done using Fireblock sealant providingthe necessary air-tightness to satisfy both the acoustic and fire requirements. Knauf glasswool insulation of 89mm thickness with a minimumdensity of 16 kg/m3 is vertically restrained between the U-studs as well as filled into the hollow void of the profiles to optimise cavity damping.

The joints of the external layer of the Type X boards are taped and jointed with Knauf Joint tape and Readygips jointing compound.

The KWC-A116 Cinema Wall system is an assembly of - 3 x 5/8" (15.9mm) Knauf GWTX gypsum boards to either side of a V-Brace, double CW stud frame 3 1/2" (89x33x0.9mm) filled with Knauf glasswool.

The Knauf KWC A116 cinema system is a V-Brace double-stud system installed full height between floor and soffit structure providing excellent acoustic performance as well as fire protection up to 3 hours. The wall, not less than 450mm footprint to reach cinema sound reduction requirements, consists of two rows of parallel vertical 3 1/2” (89 mm) CW-profiles spaced at max. 24” (610 mm) centres, each one braced by V-braces extended to a UW runner at 2m vertical centres from one row to the other for heights up to 15m. The CW-profiles are braced between UW 89mm floor track and deep flange head tracks that are fastened to the primary supporting structure. 3 layers of Knauf 5/8“ (15.9 mm) Type X gypsum boards are screw-fixed horizontally to the external sides of the double stud frame with both horizontal and vertical joints staggered from layer to layer.

Sealing of all junctions between the facing boards and the primary structures are kept flexible with Knauf approved fire and acoustic sealant providing the necessary air-tightness in case of fire. A 3 1/2” (89 mm) un-faced glass-fibre blanket of 16kg/m3 density is placed between the studs of each row preventing reverberation inside the void.

The Knauf KCC A113 ceiling system is a concealed system consisting of a 8mm threaded rod connected to the Knauf Phonic U-Hanger suspended andspaced at maximum 900mm O.C. The Knauf Phonic U-Hanger is attached to the main ‘C’ channel (60x12.5x1.4mm) by means of 2 Knauf LN screwsspaced at a maximum 1500mm at the desired height. The hat furring channels (67x22x0.5mm) are positioned horizontally across the main ‘C’ channelspaced maximum 406mm O.C and screw fixed at each flange with LN screws.

Three layers of Knauf Type X 15.9mm are used to clad the underside of thefurring channels using Knauf TN screws, with all joints staggered from layer to layer. Finishing of the surface by means of tape & jointing need only beapplied to the face board to provide a smooth and level surface ready for paint application.

The Knauf KCC A113 ceiling system is mainly used as 'Mass Barrier Ceiling'. where strong protection against sound transmission and penetration isprimordial: Multiplex Cinemas, Auditoria, Hotel Halls, Ballrooms.

TOPIQ® Efficient proThe highly absorbent fleece coated acoustic ceiling AMF TOPIQ ® black is the ideal solution for the special requirements in cinemas, movie theatres and home cinemas. Reverberation times in cinemas have to be as short as possible in order that the movie´s sound effects can be enjoyed in all purity. Therefore ceilings and walls of a cinema all have to be highly sound absorbent.

The absorbent surfaces and short reverberation times minimize the room´s acoustic influence on movie sound for its full effect without distortion. Additionally, interfering sounds are dampened effectively to enable a visually and acoustically perfect cinema experience.

The black acoustic fleece on the tile’s surface meets the very low light reflectance requirement for cinemas. Grid profiles with the visible flanges coloured black are available for a homogenous look of the ceiling. The special aesthetic and acoustic qualities make AMF TOPIQ ® black suitable for other areas of application, such as restaurants, bars, clubs and bowling alleys.

THERMATEX® Aquatec blackThanks to its special composition, THERMATEX® Aquatec resists moisture up to 100% RH. This means that even with a high humidity and temperatures between 0 and 40°C the panel is inherently stable at all times. Additionally, thanks to good sound absorption, the ceiling panel shows excellent acoustic features.
