Foreword...

It gives me great pleasure to place before you the Citizen’s Charter of Tiatr Academy of Goa. It is released on the occasion of the

completion of 3 years of existence of Tiatr Academy of Goa. Tiatr Academy Goa, during the last three years i.e. from 06/01/2009 to 05/01/2012 has formulated numerous schemes for the preservation, promotion and development of tiatr, its song and music. The schemes are also intended to benefit tiatr artistes to keep the tradition of tiatr not only alive but vibrant. In order to achieve this, there is a need that the schemes of Tiatr Academy Goa are popularized and that they reach to each and every tiatr artiste as well as tiatr lovers. Hence TAG has published the Citizen’s Charter of Tiatr Academy of Goa. I am confident that this Citizen’s Charter of Tiatr Academy of Goa will go a long way in providing detailed information of the schemes of Tiatr Academy of Goa to tiatr artistes and tiatr lovers in particular and the people in general so that TAG can implement all these schemes successfully. Oral Documentation of History of Tiatr

This scheme envisages the preservation of the rich experiences of theveteranartistewhohavecontributedimmenselytothedevelopmentofTiatr.TheirexperiencesformapartandparcelofthehistoryofTiatr.

Theschemeisformulatedinordertopreservetheoralhistoryoftiatrforfuturegenerations.

The rules and regulations of this scheme are:- 1. The veteran artistes who will be considered in the scheme for

visualrecordingoftheirexperiencesare:-scriptwriters,directors,actors,singers,musicians,backstageartistessuchasthoseinvolvedinstagesetting,lighteffects,backgroundmusic,costumes,make-up,etc.andthoseinvolvedinorganizingtiatrs.

2. EachDVDwillbeof26to28minutesduration.

3. Quotationsfrominterestedpersonshavingsufficientexperienceinvideographywillbeinvitedbyannouncingtheschemethroughpressnotesinthelocalpress.

4. Thevideographerwhohasquoted leastwillbeselectedandhewillbegivenassignmenttoproduceanepisodeofoneartisteasperhisquotedrates.

5. Thequalityof theDVDproducedby thevideographerwillbeevaluatedbyapanelof3 judges. If approved, thevideographerwillbegivenordertoproducedocumentariesofotherartistes.

6. Thepanelof3judgeswillbeappointedbytheExecutiveBoard.TheywillbepaidanamountofRs.500/-eachasremunerationtoassesstheDVD.

7. If the quality of production of the lowest quoted videographeris not acceptable then, the second lowest quoted videographerwillbegiventhesametaskandthewholeassignmentincasethequalityoftheproductionoftheDVDisapprovedbythepanelofjudges.

8. Whetherselectedornotthevideographerwillbepaidtheamounthe/shehasquotedforoneepisode.

9. TAGwillappointaninterviewerwhowillinterviewtheartisteasperthequestionnairegivenbyTAG.Thequestionnairewillhavequestionsontheirchildhood,entryontiatrstage,contributiontotiatrstage,awardsifanyandhis/herviewsontiatrofpastandoftoday.

10. The interviewer will be paid an amount of Rs.1000/- asremuneration.

11. TheproductionoftheDVDwillbesupportedwithphotographsandvideoclippingsifanyoftheartiste.ThecontentintheDVDmustbeaccompaniedwithGoanmusicasbackgroundmusic.

12. ThedecisionoftheTAGinthismatterisfinalandbinding.

Documentation of Tiatr through Research Work

There is very little research work in the field ofTiatr. In order toencourage writers to go for research work in different aspects of

Tiatr,itsSong&Music,thisschemeisformulated.The norms of this scheme are:- 1. TAG will request writers of repute to write books after doing

thorough research on the subject, related to tiatr, its song andmusic,giventothembyTAG.

2. IfanyresearcherhasalreadydoneresearchonanyaspectofTiatr,itsSong&Music,TAGwillpublish it in thebookformif thewritersodesires.

3. TAG will print a minimum of 500 copies of the book out ofwhich 100 copies of books will be given to the writer besidesremuneration. The remaining 400 copies will be retained byTAG.

4. Theremuneration for researchworkpayable to thewriter isasunder:-

a) Iftheapplicantisdoingtheresearchforthefirsttimehe/shewillbepaidRs.15000/-

b) If the applicant has done research work before andTAGisawareofhis/herworksthenhe/shewillbepaidRs.20000/-

5. The manuscript received from writers will be considered forpublication only after getting the approval from the EditorialBoardappointedbyTAG.

6. The Editorial Board will include 3 members appointed byExecutiveBoardofTAG.Theirworkwillbe torecommendtoTAGwhetherthebookscanbepublishedornot.Theywillbepaidasunder:-

a) Amanuscriptof80orlesspages–Rs.300/- b) Amanuscriptof81to150pages–Rs.500/- c) Amanuscriptof151ormorepages–Rs.700/-


7. The scheme will be implemented on ‘First Come First Serve’basisandapplicationswillbeconsideredaspertheavailabilityoffunds.

8. InterestedpersonsmayapplyintheprescribedapplicationformavailableintheofficeofTAG.



Promotion of Tiatr through Academic activities

Thisschemeisformulatedwiththepurposeofcreatinginterestintiatramongthestudentsofeducationalinstitutionsandtiatrlovers

invillagesandcities.Theawarenessabouttiatr,itssongandmusicwillbecreatedthroughacademicactivitiesliketalks,symposia,seminarsandworkshops. These activities will be organized by TAG alone or withcollaborationofanyotherinstitution/individual.

The norms of the scheme are:- 1. The awareness about tiatr, its song and music will be created

through academic activities like talks, symposia, seminars andworkshops.

2. TheseactivitieswillbeorganizedbyTAGaloneorincollaborationwithanyotherinstitution/individual.

3. ResourcepersonswillbeidentifiedbyTAG.

4. ResourcepersonswillbepaidasumofRs.1000/-foreverysessionifthedistance(toandfro)doesnotexceed40kms.Incasethedistanceexceeds40kms,anaddedRs.500/-willbepaidtotheresourceperson.

5. Theactivityshouldinvolvemaximum40participants.

6. TAG will re-imburse the expenditure of the workshop whichincludes refreshments, food (lunch or dinner), cost of theback drop, printing of certificates, stationery and any othermiscellaneousexpendituremadeinorganizingtheactivitybytheinstitution/individualcollaboratingthesame.

7. TAG will re-imburse the expenditure only after getting thestatementofexpenditurealongwithoriginalbillsofexpenditureorcertifiedbillsbyGovernmentGazettedOfficerorNotaryfromtheorganizersalongwith5photographsoftheactivity.


8. IftheactivityisorganizedbytheTAG,thentheexpenditurewillbedealtwithbytheTAG.

9. The scheme will be implemented on ‘First Come First Serve’basisandapplicationswillbeconsideredaspertheavailaibilityoffunds.


Preservation of Tiatr Literature

Not many books of scripts and lyrics ofTiatrs and kantaram arepublishedalthoughthousandsof tiatrsareproducedandstaged

everyyear.Therefore,inordertoencouragethescriptwritersandlyriciststopublishtheirworksinbookform,thisschemehasbeenformulated.

This scheme is devised for the purpose of preserving the literaturerelatedtotiatr,itssongandmusicsuchasscriptsoftiatrs,lyricsofsongs(kantaram),music,scriptsofone-actplaysetc.

The norms of the scheme are:- 1. TAGwillprintscriptsoftiatrs,one-actplays,lyricsofkantaram

withorwithoutmusic,etcinthebookform.

2. Minimumof500copiesofeachbookwillbeprinted.

3. Scripts/lyrics/musicwrittenbytiatrartistesofyesteryearswillbegivenfirstpreference.

4. Theschemewillbeimplementedintwocategories:- (i) Those tiatrartisteswhohaveexpiredand thosewhoare

livingbutnotactiveonthetiatrstage. (ii) Thosetiatrartisteswhoareactiveontiatrstage.

5. ScriptsoftiatrsapprovedbyTAGforpublishingbooksfromtiatrartistesfallingundercategory(i)willbepaidaremunerationofRs.5,000/-foreachscriptoftiatrand50copiesofbookswillbegiventothewriterorhis/herlegalheir.

6. Scriptsoftiatrsapprovedforpublishingbooksfromtiatrartistesfallingundercategory (ii)willbegiven300booksandnocashremuneration.

7. AllsuchbookswillbeprintedbyTAGfromitsfundsallottedtothescheme.

8. ThemanuscriptreceivedfromwritersbyTAGwillbeconsideredforpublicationonlyaftergettingtheapprovalfromtheEditorialBoardappointedbyTAG.

Promotion of Tiatr Music

TAG has observed that the number of musicians playing blowinginstrumentssuchasTrumpetandSaxophoneisdecreasingdayby

dayandthatthesetwoinstrumentsareveryimportantinthemusicoftheTiatr.InviewofthisTAGhasformulatedaschemetoencourageyouthandothers to learn toplayblowing instrumentsparticularlyTrumpetandSaxophonebyprovidingthemwithfinancialassistance.

The norms of this scheme are:- 1. Anyinterestedperson,youngoradult,isfreetoavailthebenefit

ofthisscheme.

2. The interested person will have to identify a teacher to teachhimtheblowing instrument.TAGwillaccept the teacherafterverifyinghis/hercredentials.

3. ThetutorwillbepaidtuitionfeeaspertheratesmutuallyagreedwithTAG.

4. Attendance register will have to be maintained, according towhichthetuitionfeeswillbereimbursed.

5. The student will be provided a blowing instrument (trumpet,saxophone, etc) which the student will have to return in goodconditionafterthecourseisover.

6. The student will have to sign an agreement withTAG that hewouldreturnbacktheinstrumentingoodconditionandthathewillservethetiatrstagebyplayinginanytiatrbandormusicalgroupatleastforoneyear.





Financial Assistance to Dramatic Troupes participating in

Kala Academy’s yearly Tiatr Festival

Inordertoencouragenoncommercialdramatictroupesparticipatingin Kala Academy’s yearly Tiatr Festival to produce tiatr of better

quality,TiatrAcademyofGoahasformulatedthisScheme.

The Rules and Regulations of this scheme are:- 1. The scheme will be applicable to the Dramatic Troupes

participating in the yearly Tiatr Festival organized by KalaAcademy provided they fulfill the conditions laid down in thescheme.

2. (a) Thetiatrsshouldbeproducedinitsoriginalformat.Thisformat includes 6 or 7 acts (podd’dde) with at least 4‘cantos’andcomedylinkedtothestoryoftheplay.

(b) Besidesitmusthaveatleast10‘Kantaram’whichincludesatleast2Duets,1Duo,1Trio,1Quartet,1ChoralSongandSolos.

3. EachparticipatinggroupwillbegivenafinancialassistanceofRs.10,000/-

4. Thefinancialassistanceshouldbeusedtobringaboutimprovementinthefollowingcompartmentsoftheproductionoftiatr:-

(i) Acting (ii) StageSetting (iii) LightEffects (iv) BackgroundMusic (v) Costumes (vi) LiveBandMusic (vii) Make-up (viii) Direction

5. Adiscussionontheperformanceoftiatrs inthefestivalwillbeorganizedimmediatelyafterthefestivalisover.Attendanceofthewriter/director/producer, etc to this discussion is compulsory.TheamountofRs.10,000/-willbepaidonlytothosetroupewhoattendthediscussion.PleasenotethatthefinancialassistanceofRs.10,000/-willnotbepaidtoadramatictroupeifthewriter/director/producerdonotattendthediscussion.

6. A statement of expenditure enclosing all original bills or billscertified by a Notary or Gazetted Officer of the Governmentshould be submitted toTAG. The payment will be made onlyafter receiving the statement of expenditure along with theoriginal/certifiedbills.

7. Inalladvertisements,oral,onprintorelectronicmedia,banners,etc. the following must be inserted/published/announced‘ThisTiatrissupportedbyTiatrAcademyofGoa’.

8. 5copiesofphotographsofthefunctionmustbesenttoTAGforrecordsalongwiththeoriginalbillsorcertifiedbills.




Remembering Tiatr Artistes of Yester years- Commemoration of Jubilees/Birth Anniversaries.

Goantiatrisimmense.Unfortunatelytoday’syoungergenerationdonotknowanythingaboutthem.

InordertomakeouryoungergenerationawareoftheircontributionandsacrificesTAGhasintroducedthisscheme.

The rules and regulations of the scheme are as follows:- 1. TAG will organize functions to celebrate jubilee/birth

anniversariesof artistesofyesteryearswhoarenomore living.Theoccasionstoorganizesuchprogrammeswillbe50th,60th,75th,100th,125th,150th,andsoonbirthanniversariesofsuchpersonalities.

2. Thefunctionwillnecessarilyinclude: (a) a formal function to highlight the contribution of the

artistestothetiatrstage. (b) ashortformalfunctionfollowedbyanacademicdiscussion.

3. Widepublicitywillbegiventhroughprintandelectronicmedia.

4. Portraitsoftheseartisteswillbemadeanddisplayedandgarlandedduringthefunction.

5. Familymembersoftheartistes,ifavailable,willbeinvitedfortheprogramme.

6. Aculturalprogrammewillbeorganizedontheoccasion.

7. SuchprogrammeswillbeorganizedbyTAGindependentlyorincollaborationwithotherinstitutions/individuals.



Remembering Tiatr Artistes of Yester Years- Organisation of Special Dedicated Programmes

Tiatr stage produced great tiatr personalities in the past. Thesepioneers of tiatr are no more with us. Their contribution to the

Goantiatrisimmense.Unfortunatelytoday’syoungergenerationdonotknowanythingabout them. Inorder tomakeouryoungergenerationaware of their contribution and sacrifices TAG has introduced thisschemeasfollows:

To give financial support to troupes/ institutions/ individuals forproducing special dedicated programmes on the lives of particularartistesoraprogrammeofthetiatrsstagedandsongsrenderedbythoseartistesinthepast.

The rules and regulations of the scheme are as follows:- 1. Inthisscheme,TAGwillfinanciallysupporttroupes/institutions/

individualswhowishtoproduceandstageaspecialprogrammededicatedtoaparticularartiste.

2. The programme includes staging of tiatr/one-act plays writtenbytheartistesofyesteryears.Theprogrammecanalso includemusicalactivitysuchassongsandmusiccomposedandsungbythelateartiste.

3. Theprogrammeshouldalso includethenarrationofhistoryofthelifeofthelateartistetowhomtheprogrammeisdedicated.

4. TAG will give a maximum of Rs. 20,000/- per show asremunerationbesidesprovidinganauditorium/halltostagetheprogramme.

5. Maximum of 3 shows at 3 different places will be staged byTAG.

6. Allshowsmustbeshowntothepublicfreewithoutcharginganytickets.


7. TAG has no objection if some sponsorship is taken by theproducerfromothersources.

8. Theproducerwillhavetogivetheproposalwellinadvancegivingalldetailsoftheprogrammei.e.scriptandlyricstobepresentedincludingthenamesoftheartistes.

9. The organizing institution/individual will have to comply withthefollowingconditions:-

a) In all advertisements, oral, on print or electronic media,banners, etc. the following must be inserted/published/announced ‘This programme is supported by TiatrAcademyofGoa’.

b) A statement of expenditure enclosing all original bills/certifiedbillsbyNotaryorGovernmentGazettedOfficershouldbesubmittedtoTAG.Thepaymentwillbemadeonly after receiving the statement of expenditure alongwiththeoriginal/certifiedbills.

c) Theapplicantshouldsubmitacopyofthe‘pancard’totheofficeofTAG.

d) 5copiesofphotographsof the functionmustbesent toTAGforrecords.

e) The organizing institution/individual will have to give20invitationcards/entrypassestoTAGwellinadvance.TheseseatsmustbefromthemiddleoftherowsA,B,orC.

f ) Theorganizinginstitution/individualwillhavetodiscusswith TAG and decide about the Chief Guest, Guestof Honour and Presiding Officer well in advance. ThePresident or Vice President of TAG will either presideoverthefunctionorbetheChiefGuestofthefunction.

10. TheinauguralshowshouldbestagedinPanjim,Margaoorinthevillageoftheartistetowhomtheprogrammeisdedicated.


11. TAG will give two banners which should be compulsorilydisplayedonthetwofrontsidewingsofthestage.ThebannersshouldbecollectedfromtheofficeofTAG.ThebannersshouldbereturnedbacktoTAGafteralltheshowsarestaged.

12. The scheme will be implemented on ‘First Come First Serve’basisandapplicationswillbeconsideredaspertheavailaibilityoffunds.



Somplolea Tiatristancho Ugddas(Monthly Programme)

TAGhasobservedthatmanytiatrartistesofyesteryears,whohavecontributed tremendously for the promotion of tiatr in the past

arenomorelivingnow.Itisobservedthatthesetiatrartisteshavebeenneglectedandthatthepresentgenerationoftiatrlovers,manyatimes,doesnotevenknowabouttheeffortsofthesetiatrartistesinpreservingandpromotingthetiatrs.Inorder togivedue importance toall theseveteranartistesTAGhasformulated this scheme of remembering tiatr artistes of yester yearseverymonth.The norms of the scheme are:- 1. TAG will make a list of birth dates of prominent veteran tiatr

artistesmonthwise. 2. Every month, a programme will be organized by TAG to

remembertheartisteswhowereborninthatparticularmonth. 3. Oneor twospeakerswillbe invitedasper thenumberof tiatr

artistes born in that month. Each speaker will highlight thecontributionoftheartisteasbrieflyaspossible.

4. EachspeakerwillbepaidaremunerationofRs.1000/-includingtransport.

5. Besides,speeches,aprogrammeofsongsoftheseartisteswillbepresentedifpossible.Theprogrammewillalsoincludenarrationofincidentsinthelivesofthaartistesbyhis/herfamilymembers,fansetc.Theartistewillalsoberememberedbyrenderingtheirsongsandactsontiatrstage.

6. TAGwillpresentamementotothenearestfamilymembersofthelateartisteasamarkofappreciationoftheworkoftheartisteoftiatrstage.

7. The expenditure to this programme will be made from theallocatedfundstothisscheme.



Financial Assistance to troupes going to Mumbai/ Poona and other parts of the

country & vice versa

GoanTiatrwasborninBombay.TherewasatimewhentheTiatrculture was more prominent in Bombay than in Goa. Dramatic

troupesfromBombayusedtocometoGoatostagetheirtiatrs.Intherecent years the scenario has completely changed. There are very fewtiatrartistesleftinBombaytoday.NewtiatrartistesalsorarelyflourishinBombay.HencedramatictroupesfromGoagotoBombayandstagetheirshowsinBombay/Poona.ManyatimestagingtiatrsinBombay/PoonaandotherpartsofthecountrybyGoandramatictroupesisnotafinanciallyviableproposition.Therefore,TAGhasdevisedthisscheme.

The norms of this scheme are:- 1. The scheme aims at encouraging Goan dramatic troupes to go

toBombay/PoonaanddramatictroupesfromBombay/PoonatocometoGoatostagetiatrs.

2. If minimum 5 shows of the same tiatr are staged in Bombay/Poona by Goan troupes or if 5 shows are staged in Goa fromBombay/Poona troupes, each troupe will be given a financialsupporttotheextentofRs.25,000/-.

3. Individuals/Dramatictroupes/CulturalInstitutionscantakethebenefitofthisschemeevenifonlyoneshowisstagedincitieslikeKolkata,Delhi,Gujarat,Nagpur,BangaloreandUdaipur.

4. Interested individuals/dramatic troupes/cultural institutionsshouldapplyonprescribedapplicationformwellinadvanceandordertothateffectinwritingfromTAGshouldbeobtained.

5. After the performances are over, a statement of expenditurealongwithoriginalbills/certifiedbillsbyGovernmentGazettedOfficerorNotaryamountingnotlessthanRs.25,000/-shouldbesubmittedtotheofficeofTAG.

6. TheamountofRs.25,000/-willbepaidonlyafterthestatementofexpenditureisapprovedbyTAG.

7. A copy of the pan card of the applicant must be submitted toTAG.

8. All advertisements, press notes, banners, hand bills andannouncement should state that ‘This Tiatr is organized withthesupportofTiatrAcademyofGoa’.Beforethestartoftheplayofthetiatrorduringtheintervalanannouncementstating‘ThisTiatr is organized with the support of Tiatr Academy of Goa’mustbecompulsorilymadeatleast2times.

Production of Tiatr in Villages/Urban Areas

TAG is of the opinion that the hidden singing and acting talentsamong the youths in the villages must be explored and that

encouragementshouldbegiventodevelopsuchtalentsinthevillages.

Inviewofthis,TAGhasformulatedaschemetopromotetiatractivitiesinthevillagesamongthevillagersbygivingthemtherequiredfinancialandtechnicalsupport.Institutions/groups/dramatictroupes/individualsetc.interestedinpromotingTiatrcultureinthevillagecantakebenefitofthisscheme.

The norms of this scheme are:- 1. The interested individuals/associations/dramatic troupes will

havetoapplyonaprescribedapplicationform.

2. The participating artiste must compulsorily be from the villageonly.

3. Thescriptandsongsmaybewritten/composedbyanyonefromwithin the village or elsewhere but acting and singing must bedonebythevillagersalone.

4. Musiciansmaybe fromanywhereandnotnecessarily fromthevillage.

5. TAG will provide financial support up to Rs. 20,000/- forproductionandstagingofthefirstshowofthetiatr.

6. Iftechnicalguidanceisneeded,thenTAGwillprovideadirectorwho will direct the village talents and produce the tiatr. Theexpenditure incurred in engaging the director will be borne bytheTAG.

7. It will be the responsibility of the applicant to produce a goodperformance.

8. ThescheduleofpracticesshouldbecommunicatedtotheTAGwell in advance so that TAG is aware of the progress of theperformance.

9. The performance of the tiatr should be staged in the village ofproductiononly.

10. The tiatr shouldbe shown to thepeople freewithout charginganytickets.However,sponsorshipfrombusinessmen,firmsetc.maybetaken.

11. The organizing institution/individual will have to follow thefollowingconditions:-

a) In all advertisements, oral, or print or electronic media,banners, etc. the following must be inserted/published/announced ‘This programme is supported by TiatrAcademyofGoa’.

b) TAGwillgivetwobannerswhichshouldbecompulsorilydisplayed on the two front side wings of the stage. Thebanners shouldbecollected fromtheofficeofTAGandshouldbereturnedbacktoTAGaftertheshowisstaged.

c) A statement of expenditure enclosing all original bills/certifiedbillsshouldbesubmittedtoTAG.Thepaymentwill be made only after receiving the statement ofexpenditurealongwiththeoriginalbills/certifiedbillsbyGovernmentGazettedOfficerorNotary.Thechequewillbeissuedinthenameoftheapplicant.

d) 5photographsof the functionmustbesent toTAGforrecords. One photograph displaying the banners shouldalsobesubmittedtoTAG.

e) The organizing institution/individual will have to give 20invitationcards/entrypassestoTAGwellinadvance.TheseseatsmustbefromthemiddleoftherowsA,B,orC.

f ) Theorganizinginstitution/individualwillhavetodiscusswithTAGanddecidewhowillbetheChiefGuest,GuestofHonourandPresidingOfficerofthefunctionetc.wellinadvance.ThePresidentorVicePresidentofTAGwillbeeithertheChiefGuestorwillpresideoverthefunction.


g) Itismandatoryfortheindividual/associationtoattachacopyofthepancardtotheapplication.


13. Theapplicationalongwithscriptoftiatr&lyricsofsongsshouldreachTAG30daysinadvanceofthedateofstagingthetiatr.

14. Incasetheapplicantisnotthewriterofthetiatr,thenNOCfromtheoriginalwritermustbeattachedtotheapplication.

15. Acopyof thescriptand lyricsof thesongsmustbesubmittedalongwiththeapplication.

16. Incompleteapplicationswillnotbeaccepted.

Popular Tiatr Festival

ThefestivalwillbeorganizedbyTAGeveryyearindifferentpartsofGoa.Themainpurposeoforganizingthisfestivalistobringabout

anallrounddevelopmentofTiatr.

The Rules of the Festival are as under: 1. Popular Tiatr Festival is a festival of tiatrs which projects

traditionalformatofthetiatr.Theformatoftiatrisasunder:-



3. In all 12 popular tiatrs will be permitted to participate in thefestival.

4. EachparticipatingtroupewillbepaidanamountofRs.20,000/-.Theparticipatingtroupe/individualwillhavetosubmitacopyofthePanCardtoreceivethepayment.

5. Apopulartiatrisonewhichhasatleast30performancesduringthe period i.e from 1st January till the date of submitting theapplication.

6. Applicationswillbeinvitedbyreleasingpressnotesinthelocaldailies.

7. Threetiatrswhichhavewon1st,2ndand3rdplacesforPerformanceinthepreviousPopularTiatrFestivalwillhavedirectentryinthenext PopularTiatr Festival. Remaining 9 places will be filled bytakinglotsifthenumberofapplicationsexceeds9.

8. Thedate,timeandplaceofstagingofthetiatrwillbecommunicatedtotheparticipatinggroupswellinadvance.


9. Incaseanyofthe12participantswithdrawfromthefestivalduetoanyreason;thevacantplacewillbefilledbythetiatrwhichisfirstonthewaitinglist.

10. The stage will be provided to the participating troupes at least2 hours before the commencement of the tiatr. Other facilitiesexisting in a theatre will be made available to the participatingdramatictroupe.

11. TAGwillappoint3judgestojudgetheperformanceoftiatrsinthefestival.Theirdecisionwillbefinalandbinding.

12. Thedurationofthetiatrshouldnotbelessthan2:00hoursandmorethan3:00hours includingtheintervaltime.Howevertheinterval should not be less than 10 minutes and more than 15minutes..

13. If theperformancebecomes less than2:00hoursormore than3:00hoursincludingtheinterval,thetiatrwillstanddisqualifiedfromthecompetition.

14. AnominalticketofRs.40/-(RupeesFortyOnly)willbechargedforeverypersonwhowouldliketowitnessthetiatr.

15. Of the total income collected from the sale of tickets, 70% ofthe collection will be given to the performing troupe and theremaining30%willberetainedbyTAGforsundryexpenses.

16. Therewillbethreeawardsforperformancei.efirst,secondandthird.

17. Besides there will be awards for script, direction, stage setting,lighteffects,costumes,make-up,acting,singing,etc.

18. As‘kantaram’areintegralpartoftheTiatr,thequalityofmusicandsingingofsongswillbetakenintoconsiderationwhilejudgingtheperformanceofthetiatr.Atiatrmusthaveatleast10kantaram.

19. KantarammustincludeDuets,Duos,Trios,QuartetsandChoralsongsbesidesSolos.Italsoshouldincludecomedysongsbesidesseriousones.

20. Atthetimeofapplication it shouldbemadeclearwhether thescriptis‘original’orbasedonthestoryofsomeotherwriter.Ifitisso,aNOCfromthatwritermustbeobtained.

21. One typed copy of the script of the play and one typed copyeachofthelyricsofthesongsmustbesubmittedalongwiththeapplication form. (Handwritten copy of the script and of thelyricswillnotbeaccepted).

22. Artistes, including technicians, musicians, backstage artists,etc whose names appear in the list submitted by participatinginstitutions,shallbepermittedtoparticipateinonegroupandinoneTiatronly.

23. Thedecisiontoawardornottoawardtheprizesearmarked inthiscompetitionshalldependentirelyontherecommendationsof thepanelof judges.Nocorrespondence in respectof resultsshallbeentertained.

24. Asthereareawardsforchildartistes,thedirectormustproducebirthcertificate(originalorcertifiedbyanotaryorGovernmentGazettedOfficertoprovetheageofthechildisnotmorethan12yearsonthedayoftheperformance.

25. Incaseofawardfor‘BestUpcomingArtist(Male/Female)’and‘BestArtistintheNegativeRole(Male/Female)’,theDirectoroftheTiatrmustidentifyinwritingtheartiststobeconsideredfortheseawards.AnUpcomingartistisonewhoisactingforthefirsttimeontheTiatrstage.

26. Audio/video shooting of the performances in the Competitionis strictly prohibited. Media persons will be allowed to shootclippings of the performances with prior permission of TiatrAcademyofGoaforpublicitypurpose.However,thedirectorcanbring his videographer to videograph the tiatr provided he/shedoesnotobstructotherspectators.PriorpermissionfromTAGforthismustbeobtained.

27. Incompleteandlateentriesshallnotbeentertained.


28. The awards will be announced and distributed in a speciallyorganizedAwardgivingfunctiontobeheldonthenextdayoftheendofthePopularTiatrFestival.

29. AdiscussiononpositiveandnegativeaspectsoftheperformancesstagedforthePopularTiatrFestivalwillbeheld.Itiscompulsoryfor the participants to attend the discussion. The grant of Rs.20,000/-willbedisbursedafterthediscussion.

30. Incase of any doubts regarding these rules, the decision of thePresidentofTiatrAcademyofGoashallbefinalandbindingonall.

This scheme is instituted in order to give encouragement to theproducers, lyricists, singers, and musicians who take pains and

investhugeamountofmoneytoproduceaKonkaniaudioalbum.TAGhasdecidedtoinstituteyearlyawardsfordifferentcategoriesofsinginginaudioalbumsproducedinKonkani.TheultimateaimofTAGistoencouragetheproducertoproducequalitativeaudioalbumsandenrichtheKonkani‘kantar’.

The rules and regulations of the scheme are:- 1. TiatrAcademyGoa(TAG)willgivetheseawardseveryyear.

2. Awardswillbegiveninthefollowingcategories:-

a) Malesingeroftheyear(Solo)

b) Femalesingeroftheyear(Solo)

c) ChildMaleSingeroftheyear(Solo)

4. ThemusicdirectorshouldcompulsorilybeaGoan.

5. 80%ofthesingersinthealbumshouldbetheoneswhoareGoansandwhosemother tongueisKonkani.

6. If the album has songs not only in Konkani but in otherlanguageslikeEnglish,Hindi,Portugueseetc.thesamewillnotbeconsidered.

7. Ifthesongsinthealbumareoldsongsorifthealbumisremixofoldsongs,thesamewillnotbeconsideredforcompetition.

8. Anaudioalbumshouldconsistofatleast8songsforconsideringforthecompetition

9. Thosesingerswhohavenotcompleted15yearsofageonorbefore31stofDecemberoftheyearidentifiedbyTAGwillbeconsideredasChildSingers.BirthCertificates(originalorcertifiedbytheNotary/Gazetted Officer) or a certificate certifying the birthdates by the Headmaster/Headmistress of a recognized schoolmustbecompulsorilysubmittedalongwiththeapplication.

10. Interestedproducers,singers,lyricists,musicians,etc.mayapplyfortheawardintheprescribedformavailableattheofficeoftheTAG,atS-1,BlockA,2ndFloor,CampalTradeCentre,Campal,PanajiGoaduringtheofficehours.

11. The audio albums will be adjudged by eminent personalitiesexperiencedinthefieldofsongandmusic.

12. The decision of the judges will be final and binding on everyparticipant.

13. ThelastdatetosubmittheentriestotheMemberSecretaryofTAGatS-1,Block–A,2ndFloor,CampalTradeCentre,Campal,PanajiGoawillbeannouncedthroughthepresswellinadvance.

14. Incomplete entries and entries given after due date will not beconsidered.




Promotion of Tiatr Related Activities

There are numerous cultural institutions as well as individuals inGoawhoorganizevarioustiatrrelatedactivitiesintheirrespective

villages/towns.Theseactivitiesincludecompetitions,talks,seminars,etc.theycontributeinkeepingthetiatrculturealive.TAGhasformulatedaschemetosupportinstitutionsandindividualstocarryonsuchactivities.

The norms of this scheme are:- 1. Individuals or institutions interested in promoting tiatr related

activities such as staging of tiatrs, one act plays, singing andothertiatrrelatedcompetitions,seminars,workshops,etcinthevillages/townsareentitledtotakebenefitofthisscheme.

2. TAG will give a maximum amount of Rs. 10,000/- to suchactivities provided the expenditure of the whole programme ismorethanthatamount.

3. Theprogrammestagedunderthisschemeshouldbecompulsorilyshownfree,withoutcharginganyticketstothepublic.Howeversponsorshipfrombusinessmenandothersourcesispermitted.

4. Thepaymentwillbemadeonlyafterthestatementofexpendituresupportedbyoriginalbills/certifiedbillsissubmittedtoTAG.

5. Iftheprogrammeisorganizedunderthisscheme,theorganizinginstitution/individualwillhavetocomplywiththefollowing:-

7. 5photographsofthefunctionmustbesenttoTAGforrecords.Atleastonephotographshoulddisplaythebannerandthestagesetting.

8. Iftheapplicantisnotthewriter/directoroftheactivityproposedfor availing the benefit of this scheme, then NOC from theconcernedwriter/directormustbeattachedtotheapplicationtothateffect.FormatEnclosed.

9. Theschemewillbeannouncedinthelocalpressandtheinterestedindividuals/institutions will have to apply within given timelimit.

10. Anindividual/institutionoranytiatrrelatedactivitycantakethebenefitsofthisschemeonlyonceinafinancialyear.

11. Theapplicationswillbe consideredon‘FirstComeFirstServe’basis.

12. TheapplicationshouldreachtheTAGofficeatleast30daysinadvance.

13. Political songs or scenes that exceed the limits of freedom ofexpression, should not be presented on the stage. In case it isfoundthatthisruleisviolatedthen,TAGwillnotgivethebenefitofthisschemetotheparticipatinginstitution/individual.



Production of Model Tiatrs

TAGhasobservedthattheformatofTiatrisnotmaintainedinthetiatrsstagedinrecentyears.Therefore,TAGwillproduceonetiatr

everyyearwhichwillprojectthetraditionalformatoftiatr.

The norms are:-

1. TAG will select an appropriate script for the production of aModelTiatr.

2. Thethemeofthescriptshoulddealwithissuesofnationalandinternational importance so that it can be easier to take GoanTiatrtonationallevel.ThethemeswillbedecidedbyTAG.

3. Thescriptshouldconformwiththetraditionalformatofthetiatrwhichisasunder:-



5. Thereshouldbenotlessthan10‘kantaram’andnotmorethan14‘kantaram’.

6. Varietiesof‘kantaram’ i.e.solos,duets,duos,trios,quartetsandchoralsongsmustbeapartandparceloftiatr.

7. Thedurationofthe‘ModelTiatr’(playandkantaram)shouldnotbelessthan2hoursandmorethan3hoursincludinganintervalof not less than 10 minutes and not more than 15 minutesduration.

9. Thecast,thedirectoroftheplayandmusicianswillbeselectedbyTAG.

12. Paymenttoartistewillbemadeasperthestatusoftheartiste.Thiswillbedecidedbeforetheartisteacceptstheresponsibilitytoactintheplay.

13. ThoseartisteswhowilldevoteenoughtimeforrehearsalsandwhowillnotactinanyotherTiatrsonthedaysofstagingtheModelTiatrwillonlybeselectedtoparticipateinthisproduction.

14. Iffoundcommerciallysuccessfully,TAGmaystagemoreshowsaspertheavailabilityoftheartistesandfunds.

15. The decision of the TAG in all the matters related to theproductionof‘ModelTiatr’willbefinalandbinding.


Promotion of Acting in Tiatr

Actingisan importantaspectofdramaticactivityrelatedtoGoantiatr.Theactingaspectoftiatrneedstobeimproved.Inorderto

giveencouragementtointerestedartistestoprovetheiractingabilities,TAGhasformulatedthisscheme.TAGwillorganizeacompetitionforimprovingactingabilities.

The norms of the scheme are as under:-

1. The competition in acting will be classified into two majorcategoriesi.e(a)Comedyactingand(b)Non-Comedyacting.

(a) ComedyActing

(i) Monologueinwhichtheactingabilityofoneartiste–maleorfemale–willbetested.

(ii) Dialogue in which the acting ability of twoartistes–bothmalesorbothfemalesormaleandafemale–willbetested.

(b) Non-ComedyActing

(i) Monologueinwhichtheactingabilityofoneartiste–maleorfemale–willbetested.

(ii) Dialogue in which the acting ability of twoartistes–bothmalesorbothfemalesormaleandafemale–willbetested.

2. Theactingabilitieswillbejudgedonthefollowingcharacteristicsofacting:-

6. Eachpieceofactingshouldnotbelessthan4minutesandmorethan7minutes.

The norms of the scheme are:- 1. TiatrAcademyofGoawillorganizeaninter-schoolcompetition

ofdanceonrecordedpatrioticsongsinKonkani.

2. Eachparticipatinggroupshouldconsistofnotlessthan6dancersandnotmorethan10dancers.

3. A panel of 3 judges, well versed in Konkani songs, music andchoreographywilljudgethecompetition.

4. Each participating group will be paid traveling allowance asunder:

(i) Participating groups coming from Panjim will be paidRs.500/-

(ii) Participatinggroupscomingfromwithinaradiusofmorethan10kmsandlessthan20kmswillbepaidRs.750/-

(iii) Participatinggroupscomingfromadistanceof20kmsormorewillbepaidRs.1250/-

5. Refreshments will be provided for the participants and theirincharge.

12. The inaugural show should be compulsorily held in Panjim orMargaosothattheinauguralfunctioncanbeorganizedproperly.

13. TAG will give two banners which should be compulsorilydisplayedonthetwofrontsidewingsofthestage.ThebannersshouldbecollectedfromtheofficeofTAG.ThebannersshouldbereturnedbacktoTAGafteralltheshowsarestaged.

14. Astatementofexpenditureenclosingalloriginalbillsorcertifiedbills by a Notary or Government Gazetted Officer should besubmittedtoTAG.Thepaymentwillbemadeonlyafterreceivingthe statement of expenditure along with the original/certifiedbills.

15. Iftheapplicantisnotthewriter/directoroftheactivityproposedfor availing the benefit of this scheme, then NOC from theconcernedwriter/directormustbeattachedtotheapplicationtothateffect.FormatEnclosed.

TAGhasobservedthattherearenumerousartisteswhowouldliketoundergoregulartraininginvariousaspectsofdramatics.TAG

has formulated the scheme called ‘Orientation courses in Dramatics’inordertoimprovethequalityoftiatrperformances.

The norms of the scheme are:- 1. Anyindividualinterestedtogettrainedinvariousaspectsoftiatr

andsongandmusicperformancescanbeadmitted.

2. Applicationsinprescribedapplicationformsforadmissiontothecoursewillbeinvitedthroughthelocalpress.

3. If there are applications more than required, then an interviewwillbeheldinordertoselectthegenuineartistes.

4. Theclasseswillbeheldtwiceaweek,preferablyattheweekendsoranyotherdayssuggestedbythemembers.

5. Eachsessionwillbeofatleast03:00hours.

6. OrientationcoursesinwritingcorrectKonkaniinRomanScript,scriptwriting,lyricscomposition,direction,acting,stagesetting,background music, light effects, costumes, make-up etc. will beorganized.

7. Thetrainingwillbeofpreliminarynature.However,itwillhelpourtiatrartistestoimprovethestandardoftiatr.

Alotofenthusiasmisshownbythestudentsofschoolsandcollegestoinvolvethemselvesinthetiatractivities.Therearealsoindividuals

whowouldliketoproduceTiatrsinvolvingchildren.Thisisagoodsignforthedevelopmentoftiatr.

Inviewofthis,theschemecalled‘Children’sTiatrFestival’isformulatedbyTAG.

The norms of this scheme are as follows: 1. A‘Children’sTiatr’meansatiatractedbychildrenwhoseagecan

beupto19years.TheageoftheparticipantmustbecertifiedbyaPrincipal/HeadmasterofaneducationalinstitutionorbynotaryorbyGovernmentGazettedOfficer.

2. Theschemewillbeannouncedinthelocalpress.TheinterestedEducational Institutions/Sports & Cultural Associations/Individual Producers will have to apply on a prescribed formwithinthestipulatedtime.

3. Inall10EducationalInstitutions/Sports&CulturalAssociations/IndividualProducerswillbegivenanopportunitytoparticipateintheproductionandstagingof‘Tiatrs’. Incasetherearemorethan10applicants,then10groupswillbeselectedbylots.

4. Themes of Tiatr based on the lives of children will be givenpreference.Thescriptshavingnorelevancetochildren’sliveswillnotbeconsidered.

5. Thedurationofthis‘Tiatr’shouldnotbelessthanoneandhalfhour(1½hour)andmorethantwoandhalfhours(2½hours).

Itisobservedthatsingingofduets/duos/trios/quartetsetc.hasbeenonthedeclinedaybyday.Itisalsoobservedthatthecorrectconcept

of duets/duos/trios/quartets as done traditionally by the tiatr stageartistesofyesteryearsisnotfollowed.

Therefore,thisschemeisformulatedinordertopreservethetraditionalconceptofduets/duos/trios/quartetsetc.

Intherecenttimes,ifasongissungbytwosingersitiscalledaduet,ifsungby3singers,atrioandby4singers,aquartet,soonandsoforth.Hence,asong(Kantar)whichcanbesungbyonesingermanyatimesissungby2,3or4singersinordertoconvertitintoaduet/duo/trio/quartetetc.Thesetypesofsongsdonotfitinthetraditionalmeaningofduet/duo/trio/quartetetc.

Atraditionalduet/duo/trio/quartetshouldbeasongwhichinvolves2,3,4etc.charactersrespectivelyinthepresentationandtheyinteractwitheach other. Hence, the lyrics should be specific to each character andhence,undernocircumstancesitcanbesungasasoloasitisdoneinpresentdays.Wecanalsogothroughthesongs i.e.duets/duos/trios/quartetssungbysingersofyesteryearsinordertoknowtheexactnatureofduets/duos/trios/quartetsetc.

Therefore TAG will organize the following activities to encouragethe composition and singing of duets/duos/trios/quartets so that thelost glory of‘kantar’ is achieved again. The following activities will beorganized:-

1. Workshops for lyricists to make them to understand the exactnatureofaduet/duo/trio/quartetetc.

2. Singingcompetitionofduets/duos/trios/quartets(comedyandnoncomedy)forsingers.

3. The competition will be judged by personalities who are wellversedinSong&Music.

4. Entries for the singing competition will be invited through thepress.

5. The decision of the judges will be final and binding on theparticipants.

lyrics,goodsingingandgoodshowmanshiphavehelpedthesongtoreachatahigher level. In themodern times, choreographywithmeaningfuldancinghasmadesongsinotherlanguagesverypopular.Konkanisong(Kantar)doeslackinthisaspect.

Therefore,theschemetopromoteKonkanisongswithchoreographyhasbeenformulatedsothatKonkani‘Kantar’ispresentedwithchoreographyanddancing.ThisactivitywillalsoattractlotofyouthtowardsKonkani‘kantar’.

The norms of this scheme are:- 1. TAG will organize competition to present recorded Konkani

songswiththehelpofchoreographicdancing.

2. Eachparticipatinggroupshouldnotbe lessthan6participantsandmorethan10participants.

3. ThecompetitionwillbeorganizedataplaceidentifiedbyTAG.

programme.

2. One programme under this scheme will be organised everymonth.

3. OldaswellasyoungartistesofTiatr, itsSong&Musiccanbeconsideredforinvitationforthisprogramme.

4. TheinvitedartistewillbepaidanamountofRs.2000/-forhistoandfrotransport.

5. In this programme, the artiste of the month will narrate hisexperiencesontiatrstagetotheaudienceforabout30minutes.Thefansoftheartistetheninteractwiththeartisteforabout30minutes.

6. The proceedings of the programme will be videographed topreserveitforposterity.

Festival of Fells/Khells

The festival of ‘Khells’ will be organized by TAG every year indifferentpartsofGoa.Themainpurposeoforganizingthisfestival

of‘Khells’istopreserveandpromotethetraditionalfolktheatreofGoa-‘TheKhell’.Itisalsocalledas‘Fell’.

The Rules of the Festival of ‘Khells’ are as under: 1. Festivalof‘Fells’/‘Khells’isafestivalof‘ZomnivoileKhells’which

promotestraditionalformatofthisfolkdrama.Itisalsoknownas‘ZomnivoiloKhell’.

2. Theexactformatof‘Khell’or‘ZomnivoiloKhell’isasunder:- a) ‘ZomnivoiloKhell’istrulyaformoffolkart.‘Zomnivoilo

Khell’comprisesof8to10songs.Theentirestoryofthe‘Khell’isnarratedtotheaudiencethroughthesongs.Eachsong consists of 2 verses and one chorus. Dialogues arevery limited. The duration of each‘Khell’ should not beof less than40minutesandmore than60minutes.Thecomedyinthe‘Khell’isrelatedtothestoryofthe‘Khell’.

b) Musical instruments used in the traditional‘Khell’ are adrumandtwoblowinginstruments.

3. Inall,10‘Khells’willbepermittedtoparticipateinthefestival.

4. Each participating troupe will be paid an amount of Rs.15,000/-

5. Applicationswillbeinvitedbyreleasingpressnotesinthelocaldailies.

6. Incompleteandlateentriesshallnotbeentertained

7. Iftheapplicantsaremorethan10,thentheselectionofthe10‘Khells’willbedonebydrawinglots.Theremaining‘Khells’willbekeptonthewaitinglist.

8. The date, time and place of staging of the ‘Khells’ will becommunicatedtotheparticipatinggroupswellinadvance.


9. Incaseanyofthe10participantswithdrawfromthefestivalduetoanyreason;thevacantplacewillbefilledbythe‘Khell’whichisfirstonthewaitinglist.

10. The application for the participation shall be made on theprescribedapplicationformsavailableintheofficeofTAG.Theduly filled application forms should reach the office of TAGwithintheprescribedtimelimit.

11. One typed copy of the script/lyrics of the ‘Khell’ must besubmittedalongwiththeapplicationform.(Handwrittencopyofthescriptandofthelyricswillnotbeaccepted).

12. Artistesincludingtechnicians,backstageartistesetc.whosenamesappearinthelistsubmittedbyparticipatinginstitutions,shallbepermittedtoparticipateinonegroupandinone‘Khell’only.

14. TAGwillmakearrangementtovideofilmtheperformancesofall10participants.Thisisneededforthepurposeofpreservingit inTAG’s library foruseof futuregenerations.Acopyof theCD/DVDwillalsobepresentedtothedirectorofthe‘Khell’.

15. AdiscussiononpositiveandnegativeaspectsoftheperformancesstagedfortheFestivalof‘Fells’/Khells’willbeheldonanappointeddateandtimeattheConferenceHallofTAG,BlockA,2ndFloor,CampalTradeCentre,Campal,Panjim.Itiscompulsoryfortheparticipantstoattendthediscussion.

Khell-TiatrisafolkmusicaldramaofGoa.Thereisanurgentneedtopreservethisfolkdrama.Inordertoencouragedramatictroupes

participating inKalaAcademy’syearlyKhell-TiatrFestival toproduceKhell-Tiatrsofbetterquality,TiatrAcademyofGoahasformulatedthisScheme.

The Rules and Regulations of this scheme are:-

1. The scheme will be applicable to the Dramatic Troupesparticipating in the Khell-Tiatr Festival organized by KalaAcademy every year, provided they fulfill the conditions laiddowninthescheme.

2. The Khell-Tiatr staged in the festival should conform with thetraditionalformatoftheKhell-Tiatr.Thetraditionalformatisasunder:-

AKhell-Tiatrisoneinwhichjustonestoryflowsfrombeginningtoendwithan intervalof10-15minutes inbetween.AKhell-Tiatrhas12to14songswhicharerelatedtothethemeof theplay.Eachsongisof2versesand1chorus.

The comedy is produced through the flow of the story of theplay.Inbrief,thesongsandthecomedyareanintegralpartoftheplay.

3. EachparticipatinggroupwillbegivenafinancialassistanceofRs.10,000/-

The norms of the scheme are:-

1. The artistes selected to be awarded Lifetime Contribution toTiatrAwardshouldnotbelessthan60yearsofage.Theagelimitmayberelaxedifthehealthoftheartistisnotwell.

2. His/Herselectionshouldbedonebyconsideringnotonlyyearsofservicetothecauseof tiatr,but, followingaspectsshouldbetakenintoconsiderationatthetimeofselection:-

a) Whetherhe/shewasasuperbactor,scriptwriter,director,singer,lyricist,setdesigneretc.

b) Whetherhe/shereceivedanyawardsinhis/herfield.

c) Whether he/she has done any innovation on the tiatrstage.

d) If a singer, are there any of his/her songs recorded onHMVrecords,CDs,orDVDs.

e) Besides tiatr, has he/she acted/directed/sang/composedmusic/ composed lyrics/designed sets/designed background music/designed light effects etc. for dramas inotherlanguagesorinfilms?

f ) Ifscriptwriterorlyricist,hashe/shepublishedanybooksofhis/herscripts/lyrics.

3. Selection for lifetime contribution award will be done by theExecutiveBoardofTAGdependingonthecriterionstatedabove.EveniftheyaretherecipientsofGoaStateAwardoranyotheraward, this will not disqualify them from being honoured byTAG’sLifetimeContributiontoTiatrAwards.

2. His/HerselectionshouldbedonebyconsideringnotonlyyearsofservicetothecauseofKhell/Khell-Tiatr,but,followingaspectsshouldalsobetakenintoconsiderationatthetimeofselection:-

a) Whetherhe/shewasasuperbactor,scriptwriter,director,singer,lyricist,setdesigneretc.ofKhell/Khell-Tiatr.

b) Whetherhe/shereceivedanyawardsinhis/herfield. c) Whether he/she has done any innovation in the

1. The artistes selected to be awarded Lifetime Contribution toTiatrAward(Non-Commercial)shouldnotbelessthan60yearsofage.Theagelimitmayberelaxedifthehealthoftheartisteisnotwell.

2. His/Herselectionshouldbedonebyconsideringnotonlyyearsofservicetothecauseoftiatr,but,followingaspectsshouldalsobetakenintoconsiderationatthetimeofselection:-

a) Whetherhe/shewasasuperbactor,scriptwriter,director,singer,lyricist,setdesigneretc.

b) Whetherhe/shereceivedanyawardsinhis/herfield.

c) Whether he/she has done any innovation on the tiatrstage.

d) If a singer, are there any of his/her songs recorded onHMVrecords,CDs,orDVDs.

e) Besides tiatr, has he/she acted/directed/sang/composedmusic/ composed lyrics/designed sets/designed background music/designed light effects etc. for dramas inotherlanguagesorinfilms?

f ) Ifscriptwriterorlyricist,hashe/shepublishedanybooksofhis/herscripts/lyrics?

3. Selection for Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr Award (Non-Commercial) will be done by the Executive Board of TAGdepending on the criterion stated above. Even if they are therecipients of State Award or any other award, this will notdisqualify them from being honoured by TAG’s LifetimeContributiontoTiatrAwards(Non-Commercial).

4. The selected artistes will be honoured with the award byorganizingaspecialfunctionon2ndJanuaryontheoccasionofthebirthanniversaryofLucazinhoRibeiro.

5. The Lifetime Contribution toTiatrAward (Non-Commercial)willconsistofashawl,amemento,acitation,andRs.20,000/-incash.

6. Not more than 3 artistes from the field will be conferred withLifetimeContributiontoTiatrAwards(Non-Commercial)everyyear.

7. TAGwillconferLifetimeContributiontoTiatrAwards(Non-Commercial) only once in lifetime be it in Tiatr, Khell/Khell-TiatrorNon-CommercialTiatr.

TAG celebrates the birthdays of Shri Lucasinho Ribeiro,‘Creatorof Tiatr’; Shri. Joao Agostinho Fernandes,‘Father of Tiatr’, Smt

ReginaFernandes,‘FirstwomanartistetostepontheTiatrstage’andShri.RosarioRodrigues,‘PromotorofKhell-Tiatr’.

The birthdates of these pioneers of Tiatr stage are as follows:- 1. LucasinhoRibeiro -02ndJanuary1863 2. JoaoAgostinhoFernandes -14thDecember1871 3. ReginaFernandes -16thNovember1880 4. RosarioRodrigues -24thOctober1948

TAGorganizesappropriateandbefittingprogrammesontheoccasionofthebirthanniversariesoftheseartistes.

There is a lot ofTiatr material in the form of manuscripts, handwrittenlyrics,printedbooks,oldHMVrecords,CDsandDVDs

etc,scatteredhereandtherewithgovernmentauthoritiesaswellaswithprivateindividuals.Unfortunatelyrequiredcareofthisvaluablematerialhasnotbeentaken.

ThereforeTAGwillcollectthismaterialifpossibleandpreserveitforposteritybyestablishingalibraryofTAG.

The norms of this scheme are:- 1. TAGwillcollecthandwrittenmanuscripts,lyrics,musicscores,

printedbooks,oldHMVrecords,CDs,DVDsetc.availablefromanyperson/institution.

2. Oldcostumesalsowillbecollectedandpreserved.

3. Consideringtheimportanceoftheitem,reasonablecompensationwillbegiventotheperson/institutionfromwhomitiscollected.

4. ThelibrarywillhavetheprovisiontowitnessvideoCDsandtolistentoaudioCDs.

5. The expenditure to this scheme will be done from the fundsprovidedforthisscheme.

Raising the Standard of Tiatr

Although,GoantiatristhemostpopulardramaticformofGoayetitsqualityandstandardcannotbecomparedtodramasinotherlanguageslike Marathi, English and Konkani. Thus, this scheme has beeninitiated.

It encourages the actors, directors, artistes managing light effects,backgroundmusic,stagesetting,costumesetc.tomakeimprovementinthequalityoftheperformance.

The norms of the scheme are:- 1. Directors, script writers, artists, backstage artists etc. are given

opportunitytoseehighstandarddramasinotherlanguageslikeMarathi,Konkani,HindiandEnglish.

2. Twoartistscanwitnessaplaybybuyingtickets.

3. Theamountspentonpurchasing ticketswillbe reimbursedbyTAGaftergettingthecounterfoilsoftheusedtickets.

4. Theartistwhohaswitnessedthedramawillhavetosubmitabriefreportaboutthedramahehasseen.He/Shewillhavetohighlightthepositiveandnegativepointsoftheplayinthereport.

5. Nomoneywillbereimbursedifthecounter-foilsofticketsandthereportarenotsubmittedtotheofficeofTAG.



Identity Cards

ThereisademandfromtiatrartistesthatTAGshouldissueIdentitycardstotiatrartistesresidinginGoaaswellasoutofGoa.

TAGhasresolvedtoprovideidentitycardstotiatrartistes.However,itisdecidedthatallthosetiatrartistesinterestedinacquiringanIdentitycard fromTAG should apply in writing to the office ofTAG to thateffect.

TAGwillissueIdentitycardstotiatrartisteswhoapplyforthesame.


Publicationof

Directory of Tiatr Artistes

Therewasnopublishedinformationaboutthetiatrartistes.Inviewof this,TiatrAcademy of Goa decided to publish a directory of

tiatrartistes.Lettersweresenttoalltheartisteswhosepostaladdresseswere available. Tiatr artistes were also informed through numerouspress notes. However, TAG could collect information of about 250artistesonly.Astherewasurgentneedofadirectory,TAGpublishedthedirectoryoftiatrartistesin2010.

Itisafactthatalltiatrartisteswerenotincludedinthedirectorybecausetheydidnotsubmittherequiredinformationinspiteofseveralremindersthroughthepress.ItisonlyafterthedirectorywaspublishedthatmanymoreapplicationsfromtiatrartistesforinclusionoftheirnamesinthedirectorywerereceivedbyTAG.Thetotalnumberoftiatrartistesnowwillbeover600.

Therefore,TAGhasdecidedtorevisethedirectoryoftiatrartistesandreprint the second edition of the directory including all the artistesfromwhomapplicationsarereceived.Thedirectoryisintheprocessofprinting.



Visit to Old and Sick Artistes

TAG has observed that many veteran tiatr artistes who havecontributedtothedevelopmentoftiatrimmenselyinthepast,today

havebecomeoldandmanyatimes,theypasstheirtimeinloneliness.

Therefore, TAG has formulated this scheme so that occasional visitstotheseveteranartisteswillmakethemfeelthatTAGcaresforthemduringtheiroldage.

The norms of this scheme are:- 1. TAGwillidentifytheveterantiatrartisteswhoareveryoldand

sickandwhohavedifficultytomoveoutoftheirhouses.

2. Some members of tiatr fraternity will visit these old and sickartistesintheirresidencesandfindoutabouttheirhealth.

3. TAGwillprovidethevehicletotravelandrefreshmentsforthememberswhovolunteertovisittheoldandsickartistes.

4. Duringthefirstvisitofthisnature,anamountofRs.5000/-incashwillbegiftedtotheartistewhichhecanuseforhisneeds.

5. Besides,abouquetofflowerswillalsobepresentedtotheartiste.
