Summary Citrix is documenting exceptions to Windows 2008 R2 Logo Requirements, as per the agreement with Microsoft Logo team.

The Windows 2008 R2 Logo Certification Test Framework document lists the requirements mentioned in this article.

Drivers Fail Functionality Testing with Kernel Testing Enabled

Requirement 1.3: Driver-related requirements

Test Case 1.3.3: Do all related kernel-mode drivers pass Functionality testing with specified kernel testing enabled? Exceptions: In certain non-customer scenarios, this requirement is not met and is remedied in an upcoming XenApp 6.5 hotfix.

Files Without a Proper Icon, Action, or Description

Requirement 1.4: Identify all non-hidden files in the application.

Test Case 1.4.1: Does the application create files outside the application folder with proper icon, action, and description?

Exceptions:

File(s) Reason for Exception C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine\ Citrix\GroupPolicy\Policies.gpf C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\User\Citri x\GroupPolicy\Policies.gpf

These are policy configuration files that are created when you edit a local policy. They are not associated with any particular application; they are edited by a plug-in to the GPEdit.msc tool. Microsoft policy is stored in C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\ [machine,user]\Registry.pol; this file does not have an associated file type or friendly description, either. Licensing configuration is done by using the policy. When you specify the license server and port, the config utility uses policy behind the scenes. That explains why the .gpf files showed up.

.bdn, .clx, .fdx, .syn, .tcl, .tip, .tlx, .tpm Files with these extensions are created by the Citrix Streaming Profiler application during the creation of an Offline application profile. They are removed when Citrix Streaming Profiler is closed.

Installation Might Fail on Full Unicode Environments

Requirement 1.5: Execute appropriately in a multilingual environment

Test Case 1.5.1: Support successful installation on any language of operating system under any system locale and user locale.

The installation of the XenApp role might return an error when installed on a Full Unicode Environment. The issue is related to the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Runtime not able to handle Unicode characters in the TEMP folder path. You can update the User Variables for the users who are logged on, so that the TEMP folder does not contain Japanese characters and allows the installation to proceed successfully.

Application Installation Requires System Restart Requirement 2.2: Do not require a system restart Test Case 2.2.1: Does the Installation complete without requiring a System restart? Exceptions: When you install the XenApp server role, Offline Plug-in, or Streaming Profiler the computer must be restarted after the installation. These components install kernel mode drivers that are loaded during the system boot. The only way they can be loaded and initialized properly is when the system is restarted. The XenApp server role also installs a Windows Credential Provider that can only be used if the system is restarted. Files Remaining After Uninstall of Application Requirement 2.3: Clean uninstall Test Case 2.3.1: Does the application do a clean uninstall? Exceptions: The supported method to uninstall XenApp is to remove all roles using the XenApp Server Role Manager, and then manually remove the XenApp Server Role Manager by using the Windows Control Panel. After the preceding steps are completed, the following files or registry keys remain in the system:

Parent Directory or File Reason for Exception [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Citrix]

These registry keys provide settings for all of the Citrix products. It is potentially dangerous to delete them, as this would remove any policy safeguards that are configured, and might lead to instability.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Policies\Citrix]

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\ MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\ MSSQL\DATA\

This directory contains customer data files from SQL Express installation; likely requires uninstall of SQL Express or manual customer deletion

citrix.mdf citrix_log.ldf C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\Licensing\MyFiles\ CITRIX.opt This is the optional file that the customer/user

creates and uses in conjunction with the license files.

citrix_startup.lic This is the Citrix startup license file used by all Citrix products.

license_20110706053246.lic License file and should not be removed.

C:\ProgramData\Citrix\GroupPolicy\ Rollback.gpf Contains information that allows the group policy

registry values to be reset. Its removal leads to improper operation of the policy system.

Rsop.gpf Contains logging information that can be used to diagnose problems (both accidental and intentional).

C:\Users\All Users\Citrix\GroupPolicy\

Symbolic links to C:\ProgramData\Citrix\GroupPolicy

Rollback.gpf Rsop.gpf C:\ProgramData\FNP\FLEXlm\ This is a third-party directory.

C:\Users\All Users\FNP\FLEXlm\ Symbolic link to C:\ProgramData\FNP\FLEXlm

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\

Files in this directory are created by operating system during creation of new users; XenApp creates new users. Ctx_StreamingSvc.dat

Additionally, in XenApp 6.5, the XenApp role has a new subcomponent called Windows Desktop Experience Integration. If this subcomponent is installed, it moves the XenApp shortcuts to a new location in the Windows Start Menu after they are installed in the usual location. Therefore, when XenApp is uninstalled, the following shortcuts remain in the system. It might be safely removed manually. Note that C:\Users\All Users is a symbolic link to C:\ProgramData, so all files appear twice.
