F. WORKING TEAMS:

1. ARTS EDUCATION

Commissioner Arndt met with her Working Team on November 2 to determine direction for the team and the Arts Education Program Area. Because SDGE have rescinded the wrapping of the boxes at this time the project will not go forward as planned but at this time the Arts Education Team will notify the participants that the project has been postponed indefinitely.

The Arts Education Working Team will be meeting with the various schools to ascertain what activities will be helpful in promoting arts in the schools. The AEWT is exploring possibly working with the Library for an Arts Enrichment Project.

Commissioner Arndt indicated that the best scenario is the wrap process and while she could support painting her working team felt it was best to continue to pursue wraps.

Commissioner Tyler indicated he felt that we have exhausted the wrap process for SDG&E. Commissioner Tyler feels that the maintenance of the boxes is not the purview of the Commission.

11/05/2015 3

Wilson suggested that the best option is the wrap process and not the painting process. Commissioner Arndt asked if there was any objection to contacting the students to let them know that the project has stalled. Commissioner Tyler indicated he would recommend that we wait a few days until we have resolution on possible other boxes in town. Wilson indicated the letter should outline an opportunity for future involvement. 2. ARTS PARTNERS & ADVOCACY

Commissioner Metz reported that the Arts Partners & Advocacy met on October 12, 2015. The partners had a presentation on Social Media. Commissioner Metz has concluded that it was very helpful to have a social media expert present to the members and that the Arts Partners would benefit from professional support by a social media expert. He also passed out sto the Partners a draft copy of the Economic Impact Survey Questionnaire that CAC will be conducting in early 2016 with a report in the second quarter of 2016. Commissioner Metz would like to survey all Arts Partners for information on their perception on the Commission and the work of the CAC and how the Commission might better serve them in the future. The goal is to take the temperature of our partners and a way to re-engage with them.

3. COMMUNICATIONS: PR & MEDIA Commissioner Kovach’s report is in the full agenda.

4. LITERARY ARTS Commissioner Enowitz’s report is in the full agenda. Commissioner Metz commented that he was impressed with the evaluation of this year’s Coronado Writers Workshop. 5. PUBLIC ART Commissioner Tyler reviewed the report in the Agenda Packet. He updated the commission on the signal boxes on Orange Avenue as possible wrap projects but has no further information. PAWT is working on Senior Center Art and a design for the Donor Wall and is seeking an artist to create a rendering for review. Tyler reviewed the PAWT proposal for the Spreckels Park Public Art Mosaic Panels. PAWT has recommended that we contract Kirstin Green for two panels on the new bathroom. The size of the panels are approximately 5 feet square and the location will be above trough sinks. The weight is approximately 100 lbs. each.

Commissioner Arndt moved to approve the proposed plan. Commissioner Metz seconded the motion. Commissioner seconded the motion. Ayes: Arndt, Metz, Robyn and Tyler Nays: Wilson Absent:

Special Events & Development Report for November 2015

Coronado Celebrates 125 years (CC125)

The Mayors’ Dinner at the Del – We have sold out the Dinner at every level except for one sponsor table which we anticipate breaking down and selling as individual tickets. I’m sure we could have easily sold another 200 tickets had the space and funding to cover the reduced price of $125 tickets been available. Our Dinner “program” took on a life of its own and is now an amazing 100+-page BOOK full of good wishes and history – our thanks to Cindy Wilson for her committed leadership in this effort. Event Chair Lyndsey Arendsee and her various committees are hard at work guiding us down the home stretch to a successful finish of CC125 events and it promises to be a magical evening not likely to soon be forgotten.

Catstudio Coronado Pillow Fundraising Project - Sales are going extremely well and to-date we have sold 81 of 100 possible standard pillows and between sponsorships and sales - 44 out of 83 Limited Edition (LE) pillows have been spoken for. We anticipate placing another order for the balance of our LE pillows (42) and an additional 50 standard pillows for a spring delivery. Additionally, we will offer our “mini” version pillows for sale immediately after the Dinner at the Del, where they are being given to guests as a surprise memento of the evening.

Funding for the new C3 – Community Center Gallery: Funds for the gallery were previously donated by the Coronado Woman’s Club as part of their sponsorship of the CC125 Symphony Concert so those funds were combined with a generous donation from the Coronado Arts Association of $2,500 to pay for Gallery 2 cabinet. Penny Duermeyer, Jeff Tyler and I then raised the balance of funds needed ($7,500+) to pay for Gallery 1 and Gallery 3 cabinets donated by friends and family in honor of Doug and Dale St. Denis.

Orange and Park Commemorative Posters: We are nearing a sell-out (6 left) of the first phase of posters

donated to us by the local company Orange and Park as part of CC125. We anticipate getting another shipment from them to complete the 125 limited edition series which has also been sold on our behalf at Emerald C Gallery and on the company’s website.

FOCUS Boutique and Artisan’s Alley booths: We sold posters and pillows at the C2 Gallery Opening

and took a booth the FOCUS organization’s Holiday Boutique held at the Cays Yacht Club this past week-end where we successfully sold both posters and pillows. We will also have a booth at Artisan’s Alley on the first Saturday in December.

Literary Arts Working Team Report

November 24, 2015

The Literary Arts Working Team did not meet in November but through emails and phone conversations we’ve had the following activities and have made progress towards meeting our year’s goals:

1) Posts of individual profiles on the Coronadoarts.com website: I sent notice out to all the Coronado Writers that attended the 2015 Coronado Writers Workshop with instructions and encouragement to post a personal profile. Two individuals have said that they were going to do this and one said they did post and are waiting for it to appear. Finally, after a year we might get a few more individuals taking advantage of this CCAC service.

2) I’ve been assisting the Friends of the Library with information and contacts for individuals who are local authors and the FOL could add to their invitation list for their upcoming event about local authors.

3) Working with the Library staff and Joyce Chapman we have set the date and reserved the Winn Room for a workshop she will be giving on January 9, 1-5 pm, “Journaling for Writers.” We will get her flyer to use in an email blast and develop a press release to speak to Commissioner Kovach about sending out.

4) Also, in coordination with the Library and using their Conference Room, Chuck Kamar is going to teach another poetry class “Poet Laureates/Poets Laureate” and the Conference Room will be reserved for him on February 3, 10, 17, 24, and March 2 from 11-12.

The Library usually doesn’t allow groups or individuals to reserve the Winn Room or Conference far in advance but the CACC is able to do this.

The next meeting of the Literary Arts Working Team will be December 18 at 9 a.m. in the Library’s Conference Room.
