There are two different kinds of Play Kits available at Rideau Heights Community Centre and Library. Each one focuses on the development needs of a specific group:

Starter Kits: For children 0-6, movement experiences help young children develop jumping, throwing, catching, kicking, hitting and balancing.

Family Kits: For use by the entire family, small or large, to continue to develop sport specific fundamentals. Includes a Family Kit Resource Booklet of Activities.

12:30 p.m. Falls Prevention WorkshopAges: 45 yrs+ Trained KFL&A ambassadors share evidence-based information on falls prevention with older adults in KFL&A. One in three older adults over the age of 65, and one in two over the age of 80, will have a fall each year. Most falls cause broken or fractured bones and increase the need for caregiver support and add pressure to the health care system. The good news is that most falls are predictable and preventable. Whether people are looking after aging parents or want to be proactive and prevent themselves from falling, they will benefit from this 60 minute presentation. A Big Welcome...Kingston & Frontenac Housing Corporation has relocated the satellite office to the Rideau Heights Community Centre in room 107. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office will continue to accept rent payments, submission of documentation and a resource to answer housing and tenant questions. A drop box will be available beside the office to submit documentation outside office hours.

Irish Dance & Celtic Music Ages: 5 to adult Irish dance classes are for beginners, dancers may participate in shows. Celtic music includes singing and/or learning a musical instrument such as the tin whistle. Community Response to Neighbourhood Concerns (CRNC) is a charitable organization which brings together residents, businesses, educators, police and local organizations working in the Rideau Heights and Markers Acres Districts, to develop and promote awareness and understanding of the needs and concerns of the communities.

We encourage anyone who is interested in learning more or becoming more involved in the community to attend our monthly meetings! The meetings are held at 1:15 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month (September through June) at the Rideau Heights Community Centre & Library, and are open to everyone.
