Chapter 29 Amendments

Section 29-107

Section 29-107 is amending two definitions:

1. “Right-of-Way User” will now include utilities and

contractors that use public right-of-way for purposes

of work.

2. “Utility” has been amended to include mobile

services, telecommunications services, information

services, cable services, and video services.

Section 29-120

Section 29-120(a) is being amended to require:

1. Proof of permit, or a copy thereof, to the right-of-way manager or designee.

2. Language that shall be included on signs maintained at permitted job sites.• Streamline the amount of signage required and provides the language that shall be included on signs maintained at

the job location.

• The Utility Excavation Criteria Manual (UECM) currently requires two different types and sizes of signs at the job

site:

* 48”x30” contractor sign

* 72”x48” right of way user sign

• This proposal streamlines the information into one 48”x36” sign and provides the sign detail required at each

location.

• A minimum of two signs, per project will be required (at each end of the project limits)

3. Employees and contractors of the right-of-way user to wear an identifier of the

utility for whom the permitted work is being performed.

This Ordinance becomes effective immediately after approval.

Grace period until February 1, 2017.
