Preview the Draft Master Plan Update

CITY OF SAN DIEGO UTILITIES UNDERGROUNDING PROGRAM

The Utilities Undergrounding Department coordinates the undergrounding of overhead utility lines throughout the city of San Diego. Over the past few years, they have been working hard to craft an updated Master Plan that improves the way projects are done in our communities, focusing on efficiency and transparency.

An essential part of that transparency is including public outreach in the planning process. So we encourage you to take advantage of two opportunities to give your input before the new plan is finalized.

First, you can visit the website at www.sandiego.gov/undergrounding/overview/master-plan to view the updated Draft Master Plan and provide your feedback. This Draft Plan will be available for public review and comment until January 30. On that webpage, you can also find information of the Five-Year Implementation Plan and access interactive mapping tools, like the Story Map. That tool lets you take a closer look at undergrounding projects by district, to search specific projects in your neighborhood, and to see which ones are completed, underway, or planned for the future.

After that, stop by one of the public information sessions coming up. Next week, the Utilities Undergrounding Department will be hosting a session in the heart of the Fourth Council District, where staff will be giving a presentation and will be available to answer any questions you still have. Mark your calendar!
