Youth Youth Basketball League Once again the City of Tracy in cooperation with the YMCA is offering its very popular Youth Hoops program, a recreational youth basketball league. This program has become one of the City’s more popular programs. In 2012, all three of the boy’s divisions filled up before the deadline, so interested individuals are encouraged to register early to secure your spot in the program. Participants are required to attend our skills assessment day, on October 19. Uniform sizes will be confirmed at the assessment day as well.

This program is a great opportunity for kid’s grades 3rd through 8th to participate in a fun recreational basketball league that stresses fun, sportsmanship, skill development and teamwork. Youth Basketball Coaches Needed! The City of Tracy in cooperation with the YMCA is once again very pleased to offer their Youth Hoops program for a very reasonable fee. One of the reasons that the City is able to offer a very successful and exceptional program at this low fee is due to the commitment of the community in supporting the league. The greatest opportunity to support the program is through volunteering as a coach in one of the age divisions. Not only does volunteering for the program assist with this program, it offers you the chance to make a difference in the lives of our local youth. Research has shown that participants in recreation programs such as the City’s Youth Hoops league stay in school longer, have fewer problems with the law and become better citizens. We encourage you to consider this opportunity to give back to your community. Coach’s commitment is only two hours per week, one for practice and one for games when the season starts. No experience is necessary as the City provides free coaches training for all volunteers. To volunteer or for further information, please call (209) 831-6200.

Youth Hoops Players’ Skills Assessment DayAll participants registered for the City’s Youth Hoops program are required to attend the program’s Skills Assessment Day. This assessment will permit the players to demonstrate their skills to assist in the equal distribution of skill among the teams in the league. Participants will be asked to show their ability to dribble, shoot, rebound and run the court. Additionally, all participants will verify their UNIFORM SIZE at the skills day.
