DESCRIPTION

Casing through overburden.

BASIC VOLCANIC FLOWS: Greenish-grey, slightly ser-

pentinized to 59.0'. Occasional barren quartzstringer (threadlike to 1/4") .

METASEDIMENTS : Banded, chertose, grey-black.Intermixed fine grained diabase to 89.3'. Pyrrho tite and minor chalcopyrite filling fractures

(1/4" wide) at 88.9'.

DIABASE: Dark, fine grained, non-magnetic.

LAPILLI TUFF (Basic) : Dark grey (some sectionsresemble intrusive porphvrv) . A few narrow (1/8"}quartz stringers at random angles.

INTERMIXED LAPILLI TUFF (Basic) and METASEDIMENTS:

(dark, chertose). Brecciation (fault) from 148. 7to 149.0, and from 165.0 to 165.7. Barren quartzin breccia zones. Pyrite (2-3%) along beddingplanes from 168.3 to 171.7. Graphite with heavierpyrite and pyrrhotite (5%) in stringers from 171.7to 175.6'.

DESCRIPTION

LAPILLI TUFF (Basic) : Whitish quartz fragments indark grey matrix. Occasional barren quartz string er (up to 1/4" wide) at 60 0 to core. Interbeddedmetasediments (dark grey-black) from 223. 6 to 226.0'.From 229.8 to 236.0 intercalated mafic flows.

Quartz occurs in tiny gash veins; heavy localtourmalinisation. Very minor pyrite and pyrrhotitein wisps and disseminations.

BASIC VOLCANIC FLOWS: Greenish-grey with inter calated lapilli tuff and finely laminated chertose

metasediments. Heaw tourmalinisation from 270.4to 271.4.

TALC CHLORITE SCHIST: Schistosity perpendicular tocore axis.

BASIC META-VOLCANICS : Find grained dark greenish.Amphibole development and minor chloritization

throughout. From 313.7 becomes increasingly moretalcosic.

PERIDOTITE: Highly sheared locally. Moderate ser pentinization and chloritization along shear andfracture zones. Moderately magnetic throughout.

A few barren, knot-like, quartz stringers. From442.0 more intensely serpentinized, and from 482.0'an occasional narrow veinlet of r.hrvsotile C^OA-fiO^to core axis.

BASIC TUFF: and intermixed metasediments . Highlysilicified, lightly serpentinized to 378.5'. Bandinjwhere present, is about 60" to core axis. Alter nating light (siliceous) and dark bands (slightlymagnetic-pyrrhotite or magnetite) . Widespread quartzveins (barren) 30 0 to 60 0 to core axis.

384.9 - 386.4: Heavily disseminated and stringerpyrite and pyrrhotite, minor hornblende.

399.1 - 402.9: Weakly disseminated pyrite andpyrrhotite in knobby quartz veinlets.

DESCRIPTION

Casing through overburden.

PERIDOTITE: Strongly chloritized and talcose.Strongly serpentinized along fractures to 121.0'.Moderately magnetic throughout.

BASIC VOLCANIC FLOWS: Light greenish-grey-slight-ly chloritized, mainly in fractures.

METASEDIMENTS: Banded, highly chertose. Light(siliceous) and dark (near black) banding at 60 0to core axis. Very weakly magnetic in dark sec tions. Occasional narrow quartz stringers atvarious angles. Some stringers contain weak pyrite

and an occasional fleck of chalcopyrite. Pyriteand pyrrhotite (approx. 5%) in disseminations,stringers, and along bedding planes between 156.7and 168.4'.

BASIC TUFF (Lapilli) : Numerous barren quartzstringers 60 0-70 0 to core axis.

METASEDIMENTS: Grey-black, chertose. Very minorpyrite and pyrrhotite in disseminations and wisps.

Graphitic from 216' to 218'. From 217.0 to 228.0*intermixed lapilli tuff and metasediments- withvery minor disseminations and wisps of pyrite.
