Water Use During DroughtsGolden State Water Company (Golden StateWater) has been ordered by the California PublicUtilities Commission (CPUC) to notify its cus-tomers of the State Water Resources ControlBoard's (Board) restrictions and fines for viola-tions of the Board's Emergency Regulations in-tended to achieve statewide conservation goals.This notification is being sent because Californiais in a drought and your cooperation is needed toensure reliable supplies of water for your com-fort and necessary use.The Governor issued an Executive Order on April1, 2015, mandating additional water use reduc-tions. At this time, the Board has not yet estab-lished the new mandatory rules. Once the Boardacts, the CPUC will follow suit and we will benotifying you of additional water use restrictions.In the meantime, the Governor's Executive Ordermandated that the following restrictions are in fullforce and effect.The Board has determined that the followingwater-use activities by California customers arenot allowed:• Watering outdoor landscapes in a way thatcauses water to "runoff" onto adjacent property,non-irrigated areas, private and public walkways,roadways, parking lots, or structures.• Washing a vehicle, with a hose without a shut-off nozzle or other device that will immediatelystop the flow of water when not in use.• Using drinking water to wash driveways andsidewalks.• Using drinking water in a fountain or other dec-orative water feature, except where the water isrecirculated.On March 17, 2015, the Board re-adopted theabove water-use prohibitions and added thefollowing ones:• Customers are not allowed to irrigate turf or or-

namental landscapes during and 48 hours fol-lowing measurable precipitation.• Restaurants and other food service establishmentscan only serve water to customers on request.• Operators of hotels and motels must provideguests with the option of choosing not to havetowels and linens laundered daily and promi-nently display notice of this option.• Customers will be informed by their water util-ity when the utility is aware of leaks that arewithin the customer's control.• In compliance with orders from the StateWater Board, Golden State Water customersmay not irrigate outdoor landscapes or turf withpotable water more than two days per week.Customers are encouraged to check the back of theirwater bill for updates regarding specific outdoor ir-rigation days for their community.
