Outdoor Movie: “Letters to God” at Methodist ChurchSYNOPSIS: Tyler Doherty (Tanner

Maguire) is an extraordinary eight-year-old boy. Surrounded by a lovingfamily and community, and armed withthe courage of his faith, he faces hisdaily battle against cancer with braveryand grace. To Tyler, God is a friend, ateacher and the ultimate pen pal —Tyler’s prayers take the form of letters, which he composes and mails on adaily basis. The letters find their wayinto the hands of Brady McDaniels(Jeffrey S.S. Johnson), a beleaguered

postman standing at a crossroads in hislife. At first, he is confused and con-flicted over what to do with the letters.Over time he begins to form a friend-ship with the Doherty family — gettingto know not just Tyler but his tough, tender yet overwhelmed mom (RobynLively), stalwart grandmother (MareeCheatham) and teen brother Ben(Michael Christopher Bolten) — whoare each trying to stand strong againstthe doubts that come with the chaoticturn their lives have taken.

Moved by Tyler’s courage, Bradyrealizes what he must do with the let-ters, a surprise decision that will trans-form his heart and uplift his newfoundfriends and community — in an exhil-arating act of testament to the conta-gious effect of one boy’s unwaveringfaith against the odds.

Inspired by a true story, Letters toGod is an intimate, moving and oftenfunny story about the galvanizingeffect one child’s belief can have on hisfamily, friends and community.

The Greater Claremont Chamber of Commerceannounces the launch of a new fundraising campaign –A raffle for a 2011 Jeep Wrangler, from Lambert AutoSales, Inc, or $20,000 cash.

This promotion replaces the Chamber’s annual TVAuction, which has taken place on CCTV eachNovember.

“It was time to bring a different fundraising conceptto the Greater Claremont community”, said ShellyHudson, Executive Director of the Greater ClaremontChamber of Commerce. “Over the past few years, TVdaytime viewership on Saturdays has declined — andit has been challenging to both solicit items to auctionand to then auction those items at fair value. It increas-ingly became a disservice to the Chamber’s many val-

ued donors and supporters.”Raffle tickets cost $50 each, or 3 for $125. A limited

number of tickets will be sold — making the opportu-nity to win the Jeep or $20,000 cash extremely appeal-ing.

Tickets will be on sale from Saturday, September18th to Saturday, November 20th, 2010. The winnerwill be announced at a Gala Auction Dinner onNovember 20th, 2010.

Tickets are available at the Chamber offices, onlocation at the Fall Festival on October 2nd, or by con-tacting any Chamber Board of Directors member.

All net proceeds from the raffle will support theGreater Claremont Chamber of Commerce and itsmany community endeavors.
