The Board addressed the salary of the incoming Veterans Service Officer, Fred Wiedeburg. The Clerk read a letter from Larry Nelson, Chairman of the Veterans Service Committee. It was the recommendation of the Committee that the sal-ary be set at $19.50 per hour for Veterans Service Officer Wiedeburg. A motion was made by Miller, seconded by Sanders to establish the salary for the Veterans Service Officer at $19.50 per hour beginning on January 1, 2019. Roll Call: Aye: Johnson, Miller, Sanders. Nay: None.

Kim Phillips and Jim Pelster appeared to discuss the Union Pacific Railroad crossing located at the intersection of County Road 109 and Highway 30. Ms. Phillips reported that the crossing is con-tinuously blocked by trains for an excessive amount of time. Chairman Johnson

suggested contacting Union Pacific Railroad Chief of Police, Bob Morrison. A motion was made by Miller, seconded by Sanders to direct County Attorney Schaub to telephone Mr. Morrison and then fol-low up with a letter. Roll Call: Aye: Miller, Sanders, Johnson. Nay: None.

Steve Wolff represent-ing the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce requested the use of the County stage for the Downtown Sounds spon-sored by the Chamber. The Board had no objection with the understanding that a Fair Board member will be present to move, set up and disassemble the stage. A motion was made by Sanders, seconded by Miller to approve the use of the stage by the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce on the following dates: May 17, 2019, June 21, 2019, July 19, 2019 and August 16, 2019 with the understanding that a Fair Board member will be present to move, set up and disassemble the stage. Roll Call: Aye: Sanders, Johnson, Miller. Nay: None.

Karen DeBoer, Extension Educator, introduced Lisa Schumacher, temporary Extension Assistant. This position is funded by the University of Nebraska.

Kevin Howard, Tourism Director, and Visitors Committee members Judy Harris and Hal Enevoldsen addressed the Board regarding approv-al of a grant submitted by the Potter Community Improvement Group. The grant is in the amount of $20,000.00 and will be used to renovate the Potter Community Hall. Information was offered by Director Howard, Board members Harris and Enevoldsen regarding the project. The Visitors Committee approved the amount of $10,000.00 for funding the project and recommended to the Board that $10,000.00 be appropriated to the Potter Community Improvement Group. A motion was made by Sanders, seconded by Miller that the amount of $10.000.00 be awarded to the Potter Community Improvement Group for the renovation project. Roll Call: Aye: Johnson, Miller, Sanders. Nay: None.

Next, the Board addressed the sponsor-ship of the Sidney Public Transit Bus. The Visitors Committee pays the sum of $25,000.00 per year to the City of Sidney to

sponsor the Bus. County Attorney Schaub stated that a Contract regarding the sponsorship with the City of Sidney could not be located. A motion was made by Miller, seconded by Sanders to table the discussion regarding the sponsorship of the Public Transit Bus until a meeting can be arranged with the City to research alterna-tive funding. Roll Call: Aye: Miller, Sanders, Johnson. Nay: None. It was sug-gested that the Executive Committee of the Visitors Committee meet with the City.

At 9:00 A.M., the Board of Commissioners meet-ing was recessed. The Board attended County Government Day in the Cheyenne County District Courtroom.

At 9:35 A.M., the Board of Commissioners meet-ing reconvened in the Commissioners meeting room with all members present.

Arden Anderson from Big Iron Auctions, intro-duced himself to the Board. Mr. Anderson explained the auction services offered by Big Iron Auctions.

Gerald Frerichs, President of the Fair Board, discussed the fair build-ings. A padlock has been placed on the electrical panel at the west camp-grounds. Building and Grounds Superintendent Roger Conley discussed the condition of the water lines located at the fairgrounds.

Ron Leal, Emergency Manager, asked if he could use the Weed Department trailer to transport the out-door siren to Sunol. The Board had no objection.

Cheyenne County Attorney Schaub presented an updated copy of the Cheyenne County Keno Operator Agreement. The term of the Agreement is from November 19, 2018 to June 30, 2023. After a discussion, a motion was made by Miller, seconded by Sanders to approve the Cheyenne County Keno Operator Agreement as updated. Roll Call: Aye: Sanders, Johnson, Miller. Nay: None.

Melissa Norgard, Economic Development Director, updated the Board.

Highway Superintendent Doug Hart then updated the Board on road activi-ties.

Randy Sutton spoke to the Board under comments from the public.

There being no further business to come before

the Board, Chairman Johnson declared the meeting adjourned at 10:50 A.M.
