Men of Intellect 13% of the Class of 2010 was recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation – Fourteen National Merit Finalists – One National Merit Semi-Finalist – Seventeen National Merit Commended Students – One National Achievement Scholar 100% of the Class of 2010 will be attending 83 colleges and universities in 22 different states – Earned over $25.6 million in Documented Scholarships and Grants – 81% earned Merit-Based and/or Athletic Scholarships – Class of 2010 accepted to 186 colleges in 31 states 185 students are members of the National Honor Society 98 AP scholars including 7 National Scholars 19 Advanced Placement Courses offered 256 students took 527 AP exams – 82% scored 3 or better (recommended grade for college) 130 academic courses including fifty electives Men of Service and Justice 21 volunteer community service projects Service conducted seven days a week Local, national and international summer service opportunities – a total of 138 students participated in Building Bridges of Solidarity in Bolivia, Native American Experience in Arizona, Project Appalachia, De La Salle Blackfeet in Montana, Urban Immersion in Philadelphia, Lasallian Youth Assembly Innovative Father/Son Branch-Out Day service programs Record-breaking Thanksgiving Day Food Drive 90 juniors participated in three Junior Urban Challenge overnight service learning projects at the Romero Center in Camden, NJ Operation Santa Claus and Secret Santa collected over 1,600 gifts and raised in excess of $35,000 – 10% of the student body delivered gifts on Christmas Eve Through La Salle Responds, the school community raised $27,000 to benefit 24 charities Men of Faith and Compassion 151 years of college preparatory education for young men in the Philadelphia area 330 years of the educational tradition of St. John Baptist de La Salle and the Christian Brothers 9 Christian Brothers actively engaged in school service School-wide student planned liturgies and prayer services Four-year retreat program, culminating in the four-day Kairos retreat during senior year Men of Integrity and Respect La Salle College High School graduates accept responsibility for their own education and actions and in the spirit of Christian gentlemen treat people with respect As a member of the Lasallian Institute, the Human Rights Forum participated in the UN’s Convention on the Rights of Children with the goal of providing a human and Christian education to the young, especially the poor International Studies Seminar students created a website about Global Water Problems focusing on problems and solutions for preserving clean water worldwide with a goal of purchasing a water pump for an African village Men of Accomplishment Athletics – 2009-2010 Philadelphia Catholic League Champions in Golf, Football, Cross Country, Wrestling, Swimming, Track and Field, Tennis, and Lacrosse – 2009-2010 District 12 (City) Champions in Football, Cross Country, Wrestling, Basketball, Swimming, Track and Field, Tennis, and Lacrosse – 2009-2010 PIAA State Champions in Football, 2nd Place Lacrosse, 3rd Place Cross Country and Swimming – Teacher-Coach Model with twelve of the sixteen teams coached by teachers at La Salle and over 35 teachers involved in La Salle’s athletic program Music and Chorus – Eleven performing bands and three choral groups – Superior ratings in all Jazz Band Festivals – 7 All-Catholic Band and 5 All-Catholic Orchestra Awards – 2 District Band Awards (1 st Place Trumpet and 3 rd Place Flute) – 8 All Catholic Chorus Awards – Two band concerts, two choral concerts, and two theater productions each year 2010 Continuing A Tradition La Salle graduates are… Men of Intellect and Accomplishment, Men of Faith and Compassion, Men of Service and Justice, Men of Integrity and Respect
