Pride, honor, and prestige are but a few of the thoughts that come to mind when
reflecting back on time spent at the University of Mary Washington. For decades,
the class ring has come to symbolize the traditions of the University of Mary Washington,
as well as a sense of accomplishment and pride for the individual wearing that ring.
It will become a treasured possession in years to come and serve as a reminder of our
commitment to our values and alma mater. A University of Mary Washington class ring
symbolizes our achievements and common bond as the Class of 2014.

As we are now members of the junior class, we have the opportunity to participate in the University of Mary Washington’s ring tradition. The ring represents our scholastic achievement and the memories we have created here at this wonderful school, which we have had the privilege to call our home.
When reflecting back on our time at the University of Mary Washington, we realize that we have made friends and memories that will last us a lifetime. In the two years that separate Freshmen Orientation and Junior Ring Premier, we have had the opportunity to experience some extraordinary events on campus. Together, as the Class of 2014, we have welcomed President Hurley, the ninth president of our university. We have witnessed the opening of the Anderson Center along with the reopening of the beautifully renovated Monroe, Mason, and Randolph Halls. We have participated in the historic celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides, and celebrated homecoming weekend with a Taking Back Sunday Concert.
However, the simpler moments we have had experienced such as playing frisbee on Ball Circle, going to basketball games on a Saturday night, or enjoying concerts at Market Square. The friends we have made, and the individuals we have met have made all these memories possible.
Now as juniors, we have the opportunity to have a tangible reminder of the very bond we share as a class in the form of a class ring. This ring will always remind us of our time at Mary Washington. Ten, twenty, or fifty years from now, we will look down at that ring and remember the things we did, the places we went, but most importantly, we will remember the people we were with.
Lucky for us, the memories are not over. We still have two more years to create more memories that will be remembered years from now when looking down at our ring.
Sincerely,
Ashley, Whitney & Peyton Junior Class Council Members
