• The median salary range for the Class of 2015 was $43,352.

• Having worked previously with the employer continues to be the number one way that graduates find their first post-graduation position.

• Students who utilized Career Services through both career counseling and Hire-a-Blugold, the recruiting system offered by Career Services, had a 100% rate of placement.

METHODOLOGY The knowledge rate of 2014-15 graduates from UW-Eau Claire is 64 percent. Knowledge rate is defined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) as the percent of graduates for which UW-Eau Claire has reasonable and verifiable information concerning the graduates’ post-graduation career activities. The knowledge rate refers to basic information about the career outcomes.

Graduates’ information is gathered in multiple ways. Four weeks prior to commencement attendees of the Senior Countdown are asked to complete a survey which is input by Career Services into the online survey. Prior to commencement, an online survey is sent to all graduating students to complete. All graduates receive a paper copy of the survey in their diploma, which they can complete and mail back or complete online. At three and six months all students who have not completed a survey or who reported they were seeking employment are re-sent the online survey.

Additionally, six months after graduation, a search is conducted via social media, primarily LinkedIn, to find graduates who have not reported any data. Faculty also provide some data. This data is added to the results from the survey.

Majors without any respondents are not listed in the report. Students with multiple majors are listed in each major. Percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding.

THE ROLE OF CAREER SERVICES

BENEFITS OF USING CAREER SERVICES

Students were asked if they had utilized Career Services while attending UW-Eau Claire. Sixty-four percent reported they had used Career Services. Of the graduates who did utilize Career Services as a student, 90% were employed or continuing their education. Of those who didn’t use Career Services, 84% were employed or continuing their education. Of those who reported they were still seeking employment, 40% had utilized Career Services.

The use of the services provided by Career Services appears to have an impact on the success for graduates from 2014-15. Students who utilized both career counseling and Hire-a-Blugold, the recruiting system offered through Career Services, reported a 100% success rate on the First Destination Survey. The two services, when used independently, also had an impact. Students who used Hire-a-Blugold, but did not have a career counselor appointment, had a 98% success rate. Those who utilized career counseling only, reported a 97% success rate.

RESULTS FROM A NATIONAL SURVEY

In a recent National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) student survey, 52% of graduates entering the workforce found the career services office an effective resource for learning about potential employers. Additional findings from the NACE survey found the likelihood of a student getting a job offer increased with the frequency of career center use. Students who used the career center four or more times a semester were more likely to have job offers than those who used it once a semester.
