GREEN DENMARK DENMARK IS CLEAN, FRESH AND GREEN Denmark is a pioneering country when it comes to ecology, organic food and environmental issues. Denmark is clean, fresh and green – and there are plenty of opportunities to explore this: Take a simple stroll through a green town centre, enjoy the lush lawns and clean air in one of the many leafy parks, relish local, tasty and fresh produce, bathe in the clean water – yes, it’s even that clean by the city waterfront. Denmark has always been first movers on large scale environmental projects, e.g. The Danish windmill energy giant, VESTAS, and on a smaller scale you’ll find everyday Danes making everyday choices, starting everyday initiatives: Organic, urban gardens, even on rooftops, are thriving, thousands of Danes are bicycling to work, plenty of green areas in the cities, clean water in the tap, and along the entire 7314 km coastline. Denmark is green – refreshingly green. CLASSIC AND GROUND– BREAKING DANISH DESIGN Danish Design is legendary: U.S. President John F. Kennedy was famously photographed sitting in the iconic chair ”The Chair” - by Danish designer Hans J. Wegner. When President Obama visited Copenhagen, he asked for that very same chair. Other Design legends include Arne Jacobsen, Kaare Klint and of course world famous architect Jørn Utzon, who designed the Sydney Opera House. Today, contemporary Danish Design is sparkling and cutting edge: Architect Bjarke Ingels (BIG) has won a string of prestigious awards with his rounded, modern architecture and Danish designers of furniture, fashion and jewellery are forever winning awards and international fame. Find unique design items in flagship stores, see the award winning buildings, design museums and much more throughout Denmark. Classic and groundbreaking, great beauty, excellent materials: All exquisitely done – and it’s everywhere you look. Photo: Morten Jerichau Photo: Ty Stange 2014 Cruising Denmark P. 17
