    Classy Wednesdays

    on Springer

Ithink weve allwatched the JerrySpringer show a

couple of times. Tomany its goofy, crazyand all about comedy,to the drama kings andqueens its seriousbusiness that mimicstheir daily lives.

Most Americans dontconsider the showsomething they cantlive without. In other words DVR-ing Springer isnot a necessity. But would it be if on Wednesdaysa new element called Classy Springer featuredpoliticians and popular athletes instead of thenormal fare?

Check out these guests and their topics andthen tell me if youd watch or DVR it to makesure you never miss a Classy SpringerWednesday:

    1. (No pictures please) Sexting and Tweetingwith Congressman Weiner.

    2. (Campaign funds cover up) My illegitimatechild, John Emory tells all.

    3. (Always touting family values) Gingrichadmits to cheating on his wife.

    4. (I dont cheat on my constituents) NC staterepresentative Bob Barr while cheating on allthree of his wives.

    5. (Family planning gone awry) Awnoldhavingtwo babies, one from wife, one from mistress atsame time.

There are hundreds just like these. Enough tokeep Classy Wednesdays in business forever oruntil Jerry retires. And just remember if theylied and cheated before what makes you thinkthat theyll tell the truth on Classy

Wednesdays. I know what youre saying, ButMerge, thats politicians for you. My comment,Cheating is and never will be considered Classyso Wednesdays wouldnt change at all justwealthier and more popular cheaters thats all.

When Lucy and I buck boarded to Springboroback in 1977 with our two youngsters in tow thepopulation was somewhere around 3,800 and Ithink that included the township.

Springboro was a village then about 1,800 shortof the required 5,000 to become a full fledgedcity. Today Springboro and adjoining ClearcreekTownship have more than 47,500 residents forone huge pole vault in 34 years.

Todays intermediate school was the highschool back then. We chose Springboro for threereasons: Tamarack Swim Club, Tamarack subdivision and the growth in Dayton was souththrough Centerville and Washington Township,

with Springboro, and Clearcreek Township sit-ting in the cat birds seat for next.

Theres still room for more homes in the citybut not many. Build out will occur in this currentdecade. The township has room for a lot ofgrowth at least two decades or more.

This Saturday night June 18, the TamarackSwim Club is holding its annual Jimmy BuffetParty from 7 till 11 p.m. Its open to all adults 21and over. You dont need to be a member of theclub, however you do need to make reservationsby calling the pool this week at 748-1209.

Ill be playing all the island hits, Buffet,Marley, even the Beach Boys and more to keepeveryone in summer Caribbean mode.

Tickets for the entrance to Margaritaville are agnarly $10 each and include Cheeseburgers inParadise and all the extras. Bring your own bev-

erages Boat Drinks soft drinks, beer, etc.Dress code for the eveningduh.swim suits, straw hats, parrot hats, lobster hats. Hey, itsMargaritaville dress accordingly. Life guards willbe on duty, island music, great food and youllhave more fun than a barrel of porpoises, immor-tal porpoises.

Last weeks fundraiser for Sgt. Brian Dullesfamily at the fairgrounds in Lebanon was an out-standing success. It was orchestrated by TammySimms the wife of Warren County Sheriff LarrySims, residents of Springboro. Tammy organizeda team of volunteers like youve never seenbefore.

I provided the sound system, music, micro-phones etc., for the event that saw more than2,000 people visit during the evening. I talked toLarry when it ended asking for his educatedguess on the amount raised. He said, Don Im

going to guess somewhere between $70,000 and$80,000 when all receipts have been tallied.

A $50 per ticket raffle on a 2011 automobilewill last for a few more weeks until all 2,000 tick-ets are sold before the final number appears.

For all the people that volunteered their efforta huge thank you for an amazing job. You weremagnificent. A special thank you to the EmeraldCity Fife and Drum Corp from Cincinnati foropening the event. The team made up of policeand firefighters in kilts playing the bag pipes wasunbelievable.

Our best wishes and love to the Dulle family aslife continues without their dad and husband.May the blessings and love shown on June 11, atthe Warren County Fairgrounds keep you in theyears to come.

Human Race names John Faas as new development directorThe new Development Director of The Human

Race Theatre Company doesnt have to tote thepersonal items in his desk very far.

John Faas comes to The Human Race from theMuse Machine, which is located right next door inthe downtown Metropolitan Arts Center.

Faas had held the same title at Muse for 2years, before which he was DevelopmentManager for the Victoria Theatre Association.

John has done stellar work for Muse Machineand he will be missed, says Muse ExecutiveDirector Luke Dennis. My only comfort is that, ifhe has to leave, at least hes going next door to

join our friends at The Human Race Theatre.Faas has worked with The Human Race before,

in a very different capacity. The 2005 Wright StateMusical Theatre grad was the musical director forThe Drowsy Chaperone, The Human Races pro-duction for this seasons Victoria TheatreBroadway Series.
