What is claytronics?From the name of clay we can derive that it can be moulded in any form.

Claytronics is made up of individual components, called catoms or Claytronic atoms that can move in three dimensions.

What is a catom?

Catoms are formed as a building blocks, just like clay.

Catom is a nano scale robotic module.

How do they work?Catom is basically a nano-robot, using a computer for operating the Catom, sensors for communication and magnetic relays for its movement.

Ability to change color, by providing LCD or LED on the surface.

Challenges faced by claytronicsIn the current design, the catoms are only able to move in two dimensions relative to each other. Future catoms will be required to move in three dimensions relative to each other.

It is a great challenge to create such a robot in nanoscale and have it fabricated.

Goals of claytronicsThe ultimate goal of claytronics is to provide a touch and feel, interactive medium to digital environment like a 3-D film which can be touched and felt.
