Biography: Chris Mitchell, Instructor

Chris Mitchell is the director of Geoexchange Technology at CleanEnergy. Chris has been analyzing and designing energy efficient heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) systems for nearly 25 years. As a recognized CGC trainer, Chris is also a CGC Accredited Installer and Residential and Commercial Designer. Chris is also a Certified Designer through IGSHPA. He has earned certification in many specialized heating and cooling systems, including natural gas, propane, wood burning, geoexchange, and oil as well as wet and dry chemical fire suppression systems, special venting systems, and restaurant kitchen equipment.

Recognized for the design of geoexchange heating and cooling systems, Chris is known as one of Canada’s experts in the effective integration of geoexchange systems and other clean energy technologies for optimal efficiencies. Chris’ hands-on knowledge comes from 12 years spent as a mechanical contractor.

In addition to system engineering and design work, Chris has spent the past five years in the geoexchange heating and cooling distribution industry. He has been certified by WaterFurnace International as a fusion-trainer for geoexchange Ground loop piping. Chris has been involved with various industry-related organizations including the International Energy Agency (IEA) Annex 21 on Thermal Response Testing Standards and Developments and the Canadian Home Builders’ Association, where he served on the Board of Directors.

The Installers’ Course® is a pre-requisite to both the residential and the commercial designers’ courses.

Upon successfully passing the examination, you will receive a CGC Installers’ Training Certificate which is the pre-requisite to apply for CGC Accreditation for Industry Professionals. Installer accreditation will help you open new markets and offer your customers an increased level of confidence knowing their system is installed by a qualified installer knowledgeable of Canadian standards, regulations, and geology.
