A first low-cost, but inadequate filter cleaning can cause very costly malfunctions of the filter. For example, a significant re-duction of the maintenance interval and resulting high costs for more frequent cleanings. In addition, higher fuel consump-tion as a result of filter back pressure increasing, which even may damage the engine itself, due to inadequate cleaning. This endangers the lifetime of the entire vehicle! Finally, irre-parable damage of your filter monolith itself – the heart of the filter – can arise. After just a few inadequate filter cleaning cy-cles of the diesel particulate filter the economy of cleaning no longer exist and you will be investing in a replacement filter!

The key to the solution is „precision pulse technology“. A on air pressure based technology which enables a stable and

100 % reliable cleaning performance, irrespective of the de-gree of contamination. By this gentle method, the filter and the catalytic coating are protected and is therefore an invest-ment protection for the filter.

PURIclean removes up to > 99 % of the collected ash, the ash plug is completely dissolved and removed. However, conven-tional cleaning methods: only remove about 70 % of the ash. The longer the filter is in use, the more the ash plug increa-ses. Therefore, the degree of purification becomes worse after each cleaning.

Minimal exhaust back pressure of the filter after each cleaning, no increase in backpressure by ash-plugs so low fuel con-sumption and steady long service intervals. With fewer filter cleanings by PURIclean maintenance costs of up to € 2,000 per cleaning can be saved. Example costs for a cleaning: cleaning incl. dispatch ca: € 350, plus about € 450 for removal and installation costs and vehicle downtime of about € 1,200.Thanks to the high efficiency of cleaning by PURIclean a thermal treatment of a typically loaded filter is not requi-red. Hence, filter cleaning can be done during the regular vehicle service. Thus, there is no additional vehicle down- time. In addition, at a mileage of 200,000 km mostly only one cleaning is required. With conventional cleaning methods, it can be up to 3 cleanings, means 2 times around € 2,000 per 200,000 km of additional costs with conventional systems. Due to complete „deashing“ the back pressure remains low and fuel consumption will not increase. In case of in-sufficient cleaning increases the fuel consumption by

up to 3 %. Compared with PURIclean, a fuel cost savings up to € 3,700 per 200,000 km mileage (35 liters / 100 km) can be achieved. Even after repeated cleaning, the maintenance intervals remain the same length. After the first professional PURIclean cleaning a mileage of 200,000 km can be achieved with a cost savings of up to € 7,700 per vehicle.

PURIclean the process is currently the only technology availa-ble that provides complete filter cleaning even with filters with high cell densities up to 350 cpsi. The high and gentle cleaning performance is made possible by the patented „precision pul-se“ air method.

The compressed air pulses with extremely high speed in the channels of the filter matrix. The cleaning nozzle is thereby placed directly on the filter. Therefore wastage can be pre-vented and ensures the targeted insertion of the entire com-pressed air in the filter channels. The high pressure momentum achieved in this way acts even at the end of the filter channel and dissolves persistent ash plugs. PURIclean method achie-ves a more than 99 % cleaning efficiency, and after cleaning the entire channel length is available like a new filter. The catalytic coating remains protected, yet ash deposits are thoroughly re-moved. The patented gentle method ensures the preservation of the function to > 99 %, which is an investment protection for your customers! By other cleaning methods, such as water or dry ice, the catalytic filter coating can be damaged and the filter function decreases dramatically.

About PURItech

To enable fast and reliable evaluation of diesel particulate fil-ter, both before and after cleaning, PURItech has developed a number of new, patented instruments. This measurement and diagnostic equipment complete the PURIclean cleaning sys-tem and thus allow a filter cleaning only during regular vehicle maintenance in the workshop. The advantage is that it creates no additional waiting time for cleaning the filter and thus no „down time costs“ for the vehicle or machine.

This measurement and diagnostic equipment allow:

a) Determine the required cleaning steps.

b) Detect any possible damage in the filter element accurately and document it.

c) Verify that the diesel particulate filter was purified up to > 90 % in order to ensure that the filter has again the pro-perties of a new filter.
