With the initiative of the Economic Sector Statistics Service
(ESSS) to conduct task force training on the different agriculture-based
surveys, PSA regional offices were directed to conduct second level
training in their respective regions. The following are the second level
trainings spearheaded by PSA RSSO III.

Review, Validation and Analysis of
Livestock and Poultry Statistics with
Electronic Data Review Workbook
(EDRW) Compilation Sys tem
Application” on June 04-07, 2018 at
the Orchid Gardens, City of San
Fernando, Pampanga. Resource
speakers were Livestock and Poultry
Statistics Division (LPSD) Chief
Elizabeth P. Cabrera, Supervising
Statistical Specialist Marisol T.
Fallarme and Assistant Statistician
Aris S. Lapitan from Central Office
together with the regional focal
person - Senior Statistical
Specialist Jennielyn S. Mariano. It
was attended by the Regional
Director, SOCD and provincial Chief
Stat i st ica l Specia l i sts , and
the provincial and regional focal
persons. The training aimed to guide
all users in conducting data review
sessions particularly for the
livestock and poultry sub-sector.
This will also help the users to come
up with quality generated statistics
on animal production, inventory
and slaughter.

Crops Surveys 2nd Level Operational
Training on 24-26 September 2018 at
SACOP, Maimpis, City of San
Fernando Pampanga.
The two-day training covered
the discussion on Corn Production
Survey (CPS), Monthly Palay and
Corn Situation Reporting System
Specialist II Tito D. Bautista,
Statistical Analysts Jib I. Blanco and
John Rey T. Duay acted as the
resource speakers of the training.
Farm Price Survey By: ABT
SACOP Ephatha, City of San
Fernando, Pampanga – The PSA
RSSO III conducted the Farm
Prices Surveys (FPS) Second Level
Training from 22 to 24 August 2018
with the Chief Statistical Specialists
and the regional and the provincial
focal persons from different
provinces of Region III as
participants. Resource speakers were
Senior Statistical Specialist Jose
Alvin P. Almedilla and Statistical
Specialist I Agnes T. Bartosis from
Price Statistics Division (PSA) in
PSA Central Office. Guidelines in the
implementation of revised FPS
questionnaires, data processing
system, survey design and operations,
Consumer Price Index (CPI) and
Inflation Rate were some of the
topics discussed during the three-day
training.
Fisheries Surveys By: JDTP
The 2nd Level Training on
Fisheries Surveys was conducted on 13-14 August 2018 at SACOP, Brgy. Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Statistical Specialists II Analiza R. Razon and Jun Dave T. Patricio acted as the resources persons in the said training. The two-day training was attended by the CSSs and provincial focal persons of the provinces.
The topics that were discussed during the training were: Quarterly Commercial , Marine M u n i c i p a l , I n l a n d M u n i c i p a l , a n d Aquaculture Fisheries Survey, Fisheries Data Generation, Top 31 Marine Species, Data Review, Data Validation and Materials for Data Dissemination.

represented the office in the said
meeting. SS II Patricio presented
updates on Volume of Corn
Production, Volume of Production of
Hogs and Chicken and Chicken Eggs,
Farmgate Prices by Province, and
Weekly Prevailing Retail Prices of
3rd Quarter Regional Task Force on Price and
Volume Watch (RTFPW)
Meat and Poultry Products in
Region 3.
The quarterly meeting
primarily aimed to monitor the
price of the major agricultural
commodities across the provinces in
Central Luzon. It also served as a
venue to raise some concerns and
issues affecting the prices of the
c o m m o d i t i e s a n d t h e i r
corresponding possible solutions.
Lecture on Technical Writing
and Infographic Design By: JRTD
A back-to-back Training on
Technical Writing and Infographic
Design was pulled off by PSA RSSO
III on 03 August 2018 at PSA RSSO
III, Training Room Maimpis, City of
San Fernando Pampanga.
During the morning, Senior
Statistical Specialist Arlene Z.
Torrico discussed the definition and
basic concepts of technical writing.
She gave some pointers and tips to
be remembered in preparing
business correspondence and letter
used by the office. Some hands-on
exercises were also administered in
order to gauge the knowledge of the
part ic ipants in subject -verb
agreement, used of prepositions,
dangling modifiers and transforming a
lengthy correspondence into a brief
and concise one.
In the afternoon, Statistical
Specialists II Jessie D. Lobo and Jun
Dave T. Patricio and Statistical
Analyst John Rey T. Duay led the
discussion on infographic design.
Basic concepts, techniques, and
things to consider in designing
infographic materials were discussed
to the staff. The resource persons also
showed samples of commendable
infographics which contained data
produced by PSA. The staff were also
asked to choose a topic related to
their duties and then prepare an
infographic about it.

The trend of the
transactions during April to September 2018 follows that of last year. As seen from the figure, the number of transactions escalates during the 2nd quarter which could be attributed to the fact that school enrolment is on-going during the said month. In addition, a lot of couples also choose to hold their wedding ceremony during the said period; thus, lots of request made. On the other hand, July to September are considered as lean months wherein transactions usually decrease. Nevertheless, it is also evident that the number of transactions made during the 3rd quarter 2018 is greater than the ones made during the last year. Specifically, there are 32,410, 9,802 and 630 increases for the months of July, August and September,

A number of clients
expressed their aspiration to have a more conducive waiting area. Thus, in order to address the needs of the public in making them feel more comfortable and turning their waiting area into a more conducive place while waiting for the requested civil
registry documents, air-conditioning units were installed as part of the renovation of the outlet. PSA Region III Serbilis Outlet aims for the continuous development of the service it provides by giving utmost attention and appropriate action to every
concern raised by the public. Moreover, the renovation of the outlet is one of the requirements under the implementation of CRS-ITP2.

Zumba for a Cause By: JLC
In lieu of the 118th Philippine
Civil Service Commission Anniversary, the Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office III participated in the Zumba for a Cause organized by CSC in partnership with the Council for Human Resource Management Practitioners – National Government Agencies (CHRMP-NGA) Regional III. It was held on 26 September 2018 at the Mini Convention Center, Heroes Hall, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The objective of the activity was to celebrate the heroism of public servants and promote health and wellness among the employees. Moreover, it also aimed to raise fund for the Regional Rehabilitation
Center for Youth at Ayala, Magalang, Pampanga. Participating agencies have donated cash for the chosen charitable institution of CSC. The host agency also invited guests
to talk about stress management in the workplace before the zumba. Various raffle prizes were also given after the zumba.
Feeding Program By: JLC
The Philippine Statis-
tics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office III (PSA RSSO III) conducted several activities in line with the agency’s 5th year anniversary. One of these was the
conduct of a feeding program at San Antonio Elementary School (SAES), Bacolor, Pampanga on 13 September 2018. PSA Regional Office Staff led by OIC-Chief Administrative
Officer Rowena R. Escoto in coordination with SAES staff headed by Principal III Perlita Chavez fed students from grades 4, 5 and 6. They were given nutritious meals and snacks in the morning and served with a sumptuous lunch cooked by the staff. The office also provided the school with cleaning materials such as
dippers, rugs, dustpans and brooms. The activity was conducted aiming not only to highlight the 5th year anniversary of PSA but also to intensify the campaign to promote a healthy generation among our youths.
