Blackbutt
Blackbutt is renowned for
its strength and versatility
with attractive colouring
from cream to pale
brown and sometimes
with a tinge of pink.
Blackbutt has an even
texture. The grain can be
interlocked but it is
generally straight,
making it appealing for
interior use applications
such as flooring and
joinery.

Australian Beech
Australian Beech is a
beautiful combination of
highland timbers, carefully
selected to create a
unique colour that ranges
from pale brown and
golden hues to a light
cream with a slightly pink
tint. These tonal variations
found in Australian Beech
are one of its sought-after
features

Tasmanian Oak
Tasmanian oak is light in colour,
varying from straw to reddish
brown with intermediate shades
of cream to pink. It is recognised
for its excellent staining
qualities, which allow ready
matching with other timbers,
finishes or furnishings.

Stringy Bark
The heartwood of white
Stringybark is light brown,
and occasionally pale
pink in colour. Sapwood
is paler in colour but not
sharply differentiated.
Grain is generally uniform
and medium-textured, but
occasional interlocking
can produce attractive
figure in some samples.

Brush Box
Brush box has a fine,
interlocked grain and even
texture with the heartwood
ranging from greyish pink
through to a reddish brown,
while the sapwood is usually
paler in colour. It is free of
gum veins. The grain is
especially appealing for
appearance-based
applications such as flooring

Spotted Gum
Spotted gum timbers are
available in a range of colours
depending on the location of the
source forest. The heartwood
ranges from light brown through
definite browns to deep red-
brown hues. Sapwood is white
to light brown in colour and can
be up to 50mm wide. Spotted
gum is a moderately coarse and
uneven textured wood with
some timbers having the
additional feature of a wavy
grain, giving rise to an attractive
fiddle back figure.

Ironbark
Ironbark sapwood is almost
white, making it highly
distinct from the heartwood,
that ranges from light grey or
light chocolate with
occasional darker reds and
browns. The texture is
moderately coarse and even,
and the grain usually straight,
and only occasionally
interlocked. Grey Ironbark
may have regional variations
in colour, with some having
black narrow to broad streaks
running through the timber.

Tallowwood
Tallowwood heartwood
ranges from pale to dark
yellow-brown, in contrast to
its typically whitish
sapwood. The texture of
the timber is moderately
coarse, generally with an
interlocked grain relatively
free of gum veins. Figure is
lacking, but tallowwood has
a distinctive lustre and
greasy appearance.

Rose Gum
Rose gum produces a warm
coloured timber with pink hues
that are deep without being too
dark. The heartwood ranges in
colour from pale pink to red-
brown, however the sapwood
is paler and not always clearly
differentiated from the
heartwood.
The grain is fairly uniform:
straight to slightly interlocked,
creating no distinctive figure.
The timber's texture is
moderately course and even

Forest Red
The timber from forest red
gum, as its common name
indicates, is predominantly
red. Heartwood ranges in
colour from light to dark red.
The sapwood is distinctly paler
in colour, a grey or cream-red
that is distinguishable from the
heartwood. A moderately
coarse grain that is uniform in
texture complements these
rich colours. Forest red gum is
a timber that reliably displays
interlocked grain

Turpentine
Turpentine is a highly durable
hardwood species that is
commonly grown in New South
Wales and southern Queensland.
In colour, it varies from pale to dark
reddish brown through to deep
chocolate brown. It has a straight
grain and coarse but even texture.

color from dark pink to
reddish brown. The paler
sapwood is readily
distinguishable. Grain is
typically straight with
occasional interlocking.
Texture is moderately coarse
and gum veins are common

GradingGrading is distinguished by
selective gum veins, spirals,
burls, insect trails and other
natural features that give timber
floors a unique character, as
individual as a signature.
Feature grade
Feature Grade is carefully graded
to include the most interesting and
moderate natural features to
enhance the look of a timber floor.
Also known as Natural grade
Standard and better grade
Standard and better timber will have a lower
level of natural features with a cleaner and
more uniform look. As timber is a natural
product it will have some degree of natural
feature such as pin hole and surface check.
Also known as Australiana grade

Standard grade
Standard grade provides a limited level of
natural features. The lower levels of natural
feature present the floor with a uniform look
that is best suited to modern, minimalist
styles. Also known as Classic grade
