Instruction set for loading Alias Design for Inventor 2011

Product Information:

Autodesk Alias® Design for Inventor® software is a version of Alias Design created specifically for users of Autodesk® Inventor® 3D mechanical design software. It installs directly into Inventor to provide integrated freeform shape and parametric modeling within the Inventor environment. Create complex 3D shapes, generate forms easier than with traditional NURBS surface modeling, and easily free-form edit a solid body created in Inventor or other third-party CAD software imported into Inventor. Autodesk Alias Design for Inventor offers a seamless integration between industrial design and engineering teams. This new version is for either the engineer who needs to work on the conceptual aspect or the industrial designer involved in the actual engineering of the design. Autodesk Alias Design for Inventor acts as a gateway for the integration of other modeling packages and CAD applications, making it easier to improve surface quality of free-form models created in Inventor or from other CAD packages.

Instructions for Installation of Alias Design for Inventor:

To take advantage of the added functionality and benefits of Alias Design for Inventor you must:

1. Install Autodesk Inventor Professional 2011 prior to installation of Alias Design for Inventor.

The Alias Design 2011 installer will not work without first having Inventor 2011 installed

2. Use the standard Alias Design 2011 installer

3. Perform a standard or typical Installation

4. The installer will automatically ‘check’ Autodesk Alias Design for Inventor if Inventor has

previously been installed (see Figure 1)

5. Click Install Products in the Alias Design 2011 installation wizard (See Figure 2)

6. Alias Design for Inventor will be installed to the add-ins directory of the Inventor Installation

7. If Alias Design for Inventor 2011 has been installed correctly a new ‘Alias’ tab appears on the

ribbon (see screen capture below – Figure 3)
