WelcomeThank you for joining us for the North America regional meeting of the Client Advisory Board for Investment Managers.

Last year we formalized a program for our key stakeholders to foster the sharing of information and best practices, interests and challenges. Through our annual global gathering and our regional chapter meetings in London, Hong Kong and here in New York, the feedback is invaluable to helping Citi shape our strategic direction.

We’re excited for the opportunity to further the dialogue with you today on business-critical issues that you’ve told us were important to you. As a member of this Board, you are among a highly select group of industry experts whose market acumen and insights we value, and we hope you will derive great benefit from your participation.

Thank you again for joining us and we look forward to a productive meeting.

A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Joey Cheek grew up as an inline skater and made the switch to the ice in 1995. An Olympic Bronze Medal winner in the 1,000 meter event at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Cheek fulfilled a lifelong dream at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy, where he won the Olympic Gold Medal in the 500 meter event and the Olympic Silver Medal in the 1,000 meter event.

Perhaps Cheek’s most notable effort, however, began off the ice when he made the remarkable gesture of donating $40,000 in U.S. Olympic Committee winnings to Right to Play. Cheek’s donation announcement in Torino was quickly followed by his call to action to others in support of the people of the Darfur region of the Sudan. His generosity inspired corporations and individuals alike; to date more than one million dollars has been raised for the region. His influence in doing so earned him a spot on Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list and recognition at the 2006 Clinton Global Initiative. While at the 2006 Clinton Global Initiative, Cheek launched what would become “Team Darfur,” a coalition of more than 575 athletes, focused on raising global awareness and action to end the crisis in Darfur.
