Commercial photographyCommercial photography involves taking pictures for commercial use: for example in adverts, merchandising, and product placement. Commercial photography is also used in corporate brochures and leaflets, menus in cafes and restaurants, and similar commercial uses where photographs enhance a text. Commercial photography is used to promote or sell a product or service.Commercial photography is a varied field and, although it covers a wide range of subject matters, it must always enhance the portrayal of the client's products, services, personnel or location.

Advertising What is Advertising Photography?Advertising Photography means taking a photograph to create awareness of a particular product. These photographs are mainly used by advertising agencies to market a product.

Jonathan Knowles is a London based photographer specializing in graphic still life, liquid and people photography.

Editorial Editorial work is featured on posters, magazines & newspapers.These photographs are usually part of a large collection of full page photographs.It can also be classed as any photograph that isn’t advertising pays less than commercial/advertising photography usually.more creative than commercial/advertising photography usually.An editorial piece is usually about a certain photographer, designer or brand. Its a clever way to advertise a product sometimes.Studio work is common for editorial work although, as you can see from the image on the right, sometimes editorial work can be in an outside setting.

Nick Knight:He is famous for his fashion editorial work.Works for magazines such as I-D.He works for certain models more than one e.g. Naomi Campbell & Kate Moss. He has also worked with celebrities such as Lady Gaga for magazine covers and interviews. As you can see, he produces most of his work in a studio.
