As the trend for rivercruising develops – it isnow considered one ofthe fastest growing
sectors of the UK travel market – sothe product continues to diversify. The range of river cruises now
available provides agents with agreat opportunity to reel in clientswho might otherwise have sniffed atthe idea of a river cruise, and indoing so get new blood into thecruising market; within thisburgeoning niche sector clients canindulge their passions while taking inthe towns and cities of the riverbank.
HorticultureThe gardening market has come intofull bloom in the river cruise sector, thanks in part to its prevalence inpopular culture; from AlanTitchmarsh tending to pegonias onTV show Gardeners World to theplethora of horticultural magazinesstacked on newsagents’ shelves. Many flower-focused breaks

folklore, the water park has becomea must-attend for visitors to Dubai inand out of season.
Wild Wadi has been open since1999 but it feels much fresher than its15 years following regular additionsover the years. Jumeirah Sceirah itself was updated in 2012, with theaddition of a second lane, capsuleand a collapsing floor accentuatingthe nerve-wracking start of the ride.
Other more recent attractions
include Tantrum Alley and the BurjSurj, the latter enabling all thefamily to take to the same inflatableand enjoy two large sections ofdownhill waterslides and two large“bowls” – think being washed down agiant plughole and you are halfwaythere.
The park is very well organised, with each attraction easy to find, and spending money in the two giftshops, snackbars and restaurantsmade easy via a wristband youcharge with funds at the entrance.
Food was reasonably pricedalthough the on-site entrance fee, aswith everything in Dubai, isn’t cheapat about £40.50 for visitors over 1.1 metres in height, and £30.50 forthose under. Guests staying at anyJumeirah hotel in Dubai have freeentry at any time though – a realbenefit, and one that many hotelguests make the most of, with directentry to the park from the JumeirahBeach Hotel.
The excellent staff really made theplace flow on the day we were there. As well as being friendly andattentive – at one point they draggedme back when I was in danger ofbeing flushed down a plughole and

And by the way, that wasn’tanything to do with the JumeirahSceirah. I survived to tell the tale.
I‘m not sure all dads will thank forme saying for this, but it’s worthadvising your own Dubai-boundclients to give Wild Wadi a go too, ifonly to give them a chance to proveto their kids they’re not wimps either.Book it: DoSomethingDifferent.comsells Wild Wadi day tickets for £39. dosomethingdifferent.com
