Firefi ghter Recruitment DayWATERFORD – The Waterford Fire Department is opening its doors to area residents, so they can learn about what it takes to be a volunteer fi refi ghter in their community, as part of a state-wide program called Recruit NY. On Saturday, April 9 between 11am-3pm, the Waterford Fire Department located at 27 Divi-sion St., Waterford, will join in an initiative with volunteer fi re departments all across the state at their respective fi rehouses for a unifi ed recruitment drive, as part of National Volunteer Week 2011. Throughout the day, the Waterford Fire Department will conduct tours of the station and fi refi ghter apparatus, allow vis-itors to try on turnout gear, and provide activities and stations throughout the fi rehouse for visitors to participate in. The fi re department will discuss the requirements to be a volunteer, as well as conduct demonstrations, answer questions, and let visi-tors know how to get involved in the fi re department. (P)
