Event ScheduleWe try to keep pretty close to the schedule, so competitors please be ready for your class, there is only a 15 minute turn around in between each round. We will be around to pick up and tag your shoes quickly after the end of your class. The next competitor will want to move in and set up for their go and it is our goal to make that run as smooth as possible. Due to the amount of competitors we will have early starts and late finishes. What an exciting event! Thank you all for taking part!!!

Thursday, April 16th3:00pm Registration open. Be sure to come by and get registered and get

your passes for the horse fair for the weekend. We can only hand these out on Thursday late afternoon after you sign for them. Otherwise you have to pay to get into the horse fair on Friday. We can only provide passes for registered competitors.

Shoes are judged according to the judges specifications. They are judged in the open, for everyone to see. The judge has the final say on shoes. DO NOT pick up shoes off of the table while the shoes are being judged and DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INFLUENCE THE JUDGE WHILE THE SHOES ARE BEING JUDGED!

Your shoes will be picked up and tagged by WCB staff. The tags are then folded in half and stapled shut so the judge doesn’t have the stress of knowing whose shoes are whose.

There is no striker rasping in any class.*There are 75 points available in each class. 75 points for 1st, 73 for second, 71 for third, 69 for fourth, 67 for fifth then single points thereafter. (66 for sixth, 65 for seventh, 64 for eighth, etc.) *Class 3: trim, shoe fit, shoe making, overall finish and specimen are judged.*In the event of a tie for 1st place in a class there will be a “shoe off” where the two (or more) competitors who are tied will participate in a short forging class.

oints go towards event totals. 1 point per win in the bottom bracket and shaded gray area of bracket and 2 points per win in the top bracket.

*Bay Horse Big Hammer of the Year points are available in each class where a striker is allowed except in Match Play.

Doing so will result in disqualification from the class.

*NEW FOR 2015 SEASON: YOU MUST USE A ROUND CENTER PUNCH, ANY OTHER SHAPE WILL BE TAKEN AS A TOUCH MARK AND WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CLASS!!

Ben is from East Sussex, South England, and is part of a family run business, which was established 30 years ago, by his father, Andrew Casserly. They work alongside Ben’s younger brother, Jack Casserly, and an apprentice. The business shoes a variety of horses, though predominately competition horses. Academically, Ben gained his Diploma Examination in 2009, and is currently looking into his AWCF. Ben’s father has competed for many years, which initially sparked Ben’s enthusiasm and passion for competitions. This started as an apprentice, and in 2007, he became National Apprentice Champion. Following this, he has competed in Open classes where he was Rookie and a Top Ten Finalist at Calgary Stampede. Ben has been a member on the winning England Farriery Team and is in the team for 2015. For the past two consecutive years, Ben has been in the winning British Horseshoeing Team, alongside his Father and Brother. In his spare time, Ben enjoys socializing with friends, spending time with his girlfriend, snowboarding and keeping fit.
