Storybook Settings

Grand Hall Our Grand Hall is our most popular indoor location for ceremonies at the Resort. The space is warm and inviting with its grand windows, fireplace and hardwood floor. The Grand Hall can hold up to 250 guests for your ceremony and also serves as a backup location for most outdoor ceremonies.

Stonewall Ballroom This is a wonderful reception option for large weddings up to 275 guests. Unlike most Ballrooms, the Stonewall Ballroom captures the rustic elegance of Stonewall Resort with warm colors and majestic wrought iron chandeliers. This rental is inclusive of a lovely foyer and balcony area for a cocktail reception. Our ballroom is our most popular indoor dinner reception location.

Terrace Lawn The Terrace Lawn is one of our outdoor venues and is located adjacent to the lodge. The space is absolutely gorgeous with its natural lake view! Depending on what time of year you are considering, the space is an amazing area for a tent as well! Tent rental pricing varies, and must be provided through our tent rental services due to state park restrictions and insurance guidelines. This space is suitable for up to 260 guests.

Terrace Patio and Foyer With gorgeous lawn and lake views, our lovely Terrace Patio and Foyer has a very serene feeling, as well as quick access to the lodge. The patio itself seats up to 80 guests very comfortably, and with a fully covered patio, you and your guests will be fully protected from minor inclement weather.

Carrion Bay Lawn The Carrion Bay Lawn is an extremely private space utilized for many ceremonies and tented weddings and can accommodate over 250 guests. This space offers maximum exposure to the scenic views at Stonewall Resort. This gorgeous piece of property does not come equipped with shuttle service, electricity, or restrooms. Those may be rented for an additional cost. The outdoor space is a small peninsula located very closely to our private cottages on property at approximately 1 mile from the lodge.

Lakeside Venues Birch and Pecan Rooms These indoor spaces are located in our Adirondack-style lodge, serving as a very lovely option for reception locations! These rooms can accommodate up to 80 people, and are both easily accessible by elevator or stairs. The Pecan would be a wonderful option if you choose to have your ceremony on the Terrace Lawn. Maple Patio Our Maple Patio is also a lovely option for your wedding reception or rehearsal dinner. This space is desired by many due to its beautiful lakeside location. The Maple Patio can accommodate up to 80 guests and grants access to one of our most desirable features of our resort, our stone built fire pit. The fire pit is open to the public, and cannot be rented out privately, but the space is a fun “after party” option for your guests.

Lightburn’s Patio If you are dreaming of an intimate, mountaintop ceremony, you will not find a better location! This patio sits adjacent to the Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course & Lightburn’s Restaurant, and it offers possibly the best view in the entire park! This location can accommodate up to 80 guests.

Lightburn’s Restaurant If you love our wild and wonderful state, you will also adore our beautiful restaurant on the hilltop, Lightburn’s. The space is fully equipped for a very private and unique event, along with a fireplace and built in bar. Like Lightburn’s Patio, this location has breathtaking views overlooking the serene Stonewall Jackson Lake and Stonewall Resort Lodge. This location can accommodate up to 80 guests.

Little Sorrel Cruise Boat Our 75 foot Little Sorrel Cruise Boat is available for private rental during peak season. Unique to Stonewall Resort, Little Sorrel will take up to 90 guests on a lake cruise, giving you the outdoor experience of a lifetime. Little Sorrel is suitable for cocktail events with heavy hors d’oeuvres. This is also a great option for a fun activity before a rehearsal dinner!

Water’s Edge Terrace If the vision for your wedding includes an intimate ceremony lakeside, the Water’s Edge Terrace will be perfect! Water’s Edge Terrace has a capacity of 23 people for either ceremony or cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres.

Bar Options We have 3 options to choose from regarding your Bar Service. You can select a cash bar, hosted on consumption bar, or hosted per person, per hour bar. Please note there is a $105 bartender fee per bar for bars lasting up to 3 hours and $35 for each additional hour. Standard setup is one bar per 100 guests. Bars will also offer mixers, assorted soft drinks, bottled water, and juice. Per person bars are charged for every guest 21 years and older. Please note all reception venues will require a Beverage Minimum. Please see your Catering Sales Manager for details.

Stonewall Resort is regulated by the state of West Virginia and is the only licensed authority to sell and/or distribute any beverages, including alcoholic beverages, in any function space. Outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Stonewall Resort will ask all wedding guests to present appropriate identification, including the bridal party. Stonewall Resort’s staff reserves the right to refuse service to guests that are visibly intoxicated.

A 21% taxable service charge will be applied to all function room rental fees, food and beverage, audio-visual equipment, wedding and special event orders and contracted requests. The service charge will be retained by the hotel as an administrative and operation fee. This portion is not a tip or gratuity and will not be distributed to the service staff.

Deposit & Payment Schedule A signed contract and deposit is required to hold a space and date. The deposit is 1/3 of your estimate created for you by the Catering Sales Manager. A second and third deposit are due 60 days and 14 days, respectively, prior to the wedding. All charges must be prepaid.

Food and Beverage Minimum Food and Beverage minimums will apply to your event and will vary depending on your venue. Please speak with your Catering Sales Manager regarding what the amount will be for your event. Please note that Tax nor Service charge is factored in to your minimums and will be additional.

Final Guarantees Stonewall Resort respectfully asks for your final counts 14 days prior to the wedding. However, any last-minute changes will be taken until 7 days prior to the morning of the event.

Outdoor Functions Due to WV State Park regulations and as a courtesy to our overnight guests, all outside functions must conclude by 10pm. If you choose to hold your ceremony outdoors and there is an imminent threat of inclement weather, the hotel reserves the right to relocate the function indoors, for the safety and comfort of your guests.

Hotel Room Block Stonewall Resort will hold a courtesy block of 10 rooms for your guests. Rooms are decided during the contract stage. Once a contract is signed, those rooms are available for reservation by your guests. Forty-five days prior to the wedding, any rooms not reserved in your block will be released for sale to the general public. If you wish to hold more than 10 rooms you will be held liable for any that are blocked, but not consumed.

Catering Stonewall Resort must cater your event. At no point is any outside food or beverage allowed to a catered function. However, homemade cookies and desserts (with signed waiver), & outside weddings cakes are permitted. If there is something you would like, ask your Catering Sales Manager.

Vendors Excluding food and beverage caterers, you may bring in your own vendors for your event. We work with wonderful vendors and have included a list of vendors that we recommend. These particular companies and individuals know our resort and what will work best for your event. Any storage space your vendor requires may result in a rental fee.

Q: How do I make an appointment to speak with a Catering Sales Manager?

Due to the high volume of weddings we have throughout the year, we ask that you schedule an appointment to visit and speak with the Catering Sales Manager. Appointments may be scheduled five (5) business days (Monday-Friday) in advance and are offered Tuesday-Friday between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Q: Do I need an outside wedding planner?

Yes. We only assist in booking the events, setup, and menu planning. A personal wedding planner will need to be hired if you’d like assistance with décor, direction, and contacting vendors.

Q: Can I bring my own food and beverage?

No, outside food and beverage is prohibited. With a full-service kitchen and an acclaimed Executive Chef, we schedule tastings prior to the wedding to ensure your catering needs are met in every way. We do permit cakes and sweets to be brought in.

Q: What is the alcohol policy at Stonewall Resort?

Stonewall Resort does not allow any alcohol to be brought into our function space. We do provide a bar option for your wedding reception. Stonewall Resort reserves the right to shut down bar service if outside food and beverage is being brought in by guests.

Q: Can I bring in my own wedding cake?

Yes. We allow outside vendors to bring in wedding cakes, with a minimal cake cutting/serving fee of $100.

Q: Are chairs, tables, linens, flatware, and dinnerware included for the reception?

Yes, each indoor location does include the above. The linens will be white or ivory lap-length tablecloths and white or ivory napkins. Formal length linens and colored napkins are available as an upgrade. If your event is being held in one of our outdoor venues these items are not included and will be additional.

Q: Can I bring in my own décor?

Decorations are permitted; however, the use of nails, staples or heavily gummed tape is not permitted. Decorations must be removed immediately following the event and will be placed in your décor storage room by our staff.

Q: Will our guests have to pay to enter Stonewall Resort?

Yes, candles are permitted in all wedding venues. They must have be in a container of some type.

Q: Is there a space for the bridal party to get dressed?

You may either get ready in your guest room (or cottage) or may request a function room to get ready in. A rental fee may apply for use of a function room. Outside food and beverage is not permitted in our function rooms. If you’d like a snack or drink, let us know and we’ll place an order for you from one of our food and beverage outlets. (Fee will apply based on items requested)

Q: Will my venue be available for rehearsal?

Use of the venue of your choice for rehearsal is included and is no additional cost. Rehearsal time should be reserved at the time the venue is reserved for the ceremony and is based on availability.

Q: When will I need to meet with Catering Sales Manager to plan everything?

Your wedding planning process will consist of a details meeting and a menu tasting. Some guests elect to do this on the same day, others wish to have 2 separate meetings, it’s up to you! These meetings are to be scheduled no less than one month prior to the wedding date.

Q: Do I need to make my own room reservation?

Yes. You will need to book any overnight accommodations that you will need. Our reservations team will be glad to assist you in this process. The reservations toll-free number is 888-278-8150. Please reference your wedding room block when booking to receive your special room rate.

Q: Do I need to make my own tee times or spa appointments?

Yes. You will need to book any spa appointments and/or golf tee times that you will need. Our team will be glad to assist you in this process. The Golf Pro Shop direct line is 304-269-8885 and the Mtn. Laurel Spa direct line is 304-269-8881. Please call at least 30 days in advance to ensure the time that you would like is available. The sooner you book, the better!

Q: Are there restrooms at each venue?

There are restrooms at each of our venues, with the exception of Carrion Bay.
