Sponsorship Summary 2016-2017 2016/17 Season has been tough. We were starting from scratch with only 3 previous active contracts. Our economy was struggling during this hockey season and not a lot of corporations had money to spare that they wanted to give to the association rather than individual teams. Since I started last spring I have connected with companies that have given us hope for the upcoming season. We are in works with the city to have more sponsorship options throughout the LRC to have a more attractive sponsorship package, to assure our association sponsors get more exposure. Going into my second yr. of my term I feel better about things going forward and things will move in a positive way.

RISK MANAGEMENT Criminal Records Check and Intervention Record CheckThis year we had over 200 LMHA volunteers who needed Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Checks done.

By the deadline of November 15th, we still had some people who had not handed in either check. The managers and directors were notified that those volunteers were not to be permitted on the ice or bench until they were handed in. There was a longer wait this year to get the Intervention Checks back. Fingerprinting continue to take longer each year.

An email was sent out in August 2016 to all registered LMHA members informing them that if they thought they might be volunteering, they could contact Risk Management to get the letter to take to the RCMP for the Criminal Record Check. The address was given for Child and Family

Page 8: cloud.rampinteractive.comcloud.rampinteractive.com/leducmha/files/2017AGM.docx  · Web view2016/17 Season has been tough. We were starting from scratch with only 3 previous active

Services were they could get their Intervention checks done. I am recommending that we do this every year.

Both Criminal Records Check and Intervention Record Check must be completed every year It was brought up to have Sharon check to see if the Criminal Record with the Vulnerable sector checked off, if this would eliminate the need for the Intervention check? Please look into this and let the board know what the RCMP say.

Injury reportsTeam Managers and Coaches need to be aware that all injury reports, once completed must be handed in to Risk Management. We sent in approximately 40 injury reports to Hockey Alberta.

PermitsPermits are required for all Exhibition Games. A Travel Permit is required for any travel outside Zone 4. A list of the Zone 4 area is posted on the LMHA website

Tournaments

There were five Associations hosted tournaments were held this year with all proceeds going back to LMHA. The biggest challenge was obtaining volunteers; therefore the schedules were released later than we would have hoped. Volunteer spot helped a lot with having contacts for volunteers however moving forward only have the number of shifts available per day as opposed to the shifts and positions. Having access to remove names from positions after the volunteer commitments are full would be beneficial. We found that after contacting the volunteers to fill the shifts that they were signed up for they had already fulfilled their volunteer commitments.

EQUIPMENTWe still a couple boxes full of donated new equipment available, more youth sizes than anything, such as elbow pads, shin pads, even a few sets of gloves.

Page 9: cloud.rampinteractive.comcloud.rampinteractive.com/leducmha/files/2017AGM.docx  · Web view2016/17 Season has been tough. We were starting from scratch with only 3 previous active

Pucks and first aid kits are always in short supply will probably need to purchase a half a dozen puck bags, and hopefully we get another 100 or 150 pucks donated by Leduc old Blades, as the previous couple years

Game jerseys are coming back on a consistent flow, as they are being returned we are counting, bagging, hanging and tagging them all.

We're slowly starting to move the old ones up into the rafters with the new ones being ready for next year. Old jerseys will be available for purchase.

INITIATIONTeam package binder with everything a team to get started in an organized fashion"Welcome to LMHA" meeting date available at time of registration Coach Clinics & hot stove dates made available early and often (Hockey Alberta model)Any scheduling changes (exhibition/tournaments) should be emailed to the ice scheduler, initiation director and the other team’s manager in order to utilize the ice efficiently2nd jersey will be reviewed Coach evaluation/survey feedback are made available to coaches Split ice with new boards = less ice required = reduce cost Last weekend of the season. In house fun tournament. 3 games eachDo not guesstimate "no show" evaluations. Place them with the teams requiring more evaluation and skill developmentAffiliates should be limited to 3rd year players. Socially more ready for "tiered" hockey Team generation - split top 12 kids between the first 4 teams. Then split kids between 13 & 24 and so on.Utilize all 4 dressing rooms for each set of games and have gear piled to one side (or shower) to make room for the next team.Introduce Goalies 1/2 way through season for the more advanced teams

NOVICE The time trials (done by the professionals) proved to be very beneficial to assist in the novice evaluations again this season. I recommend we continue to hire the time trial company again. Novice had 7 teams this year and each player developed his her confidence and skills.

ATOMSo yet another great season for Leduc ATOM teams. The season was busy at the start but once all teams were formed and coaches put in place, things ran well.Overall, the AtoMc Season went very well. Lots of positive feedback was heard. Players were happy to keep their AtoMc jerseys and we have re-ordered New jerseys and socks again for the upcoming AtoMc program next season!Thank you to all who helped make the season such a success for all.

BANTAM AAThis season the Bantam AA team attended the Cochrane tournament and also enjoyed a few overnight road trips. Leduc hosted the Bantam AA playoff tournament in March. Leduc finished Number 1 in the round robin but were defeated in semi-finals. The players had a great season and learned a lot about the game of hockey thru dedication to practice & games, working as a team and stepping up as leaders whenever possible. The Entire staff did a great job ensuring a successful season. The team consisted of 10 players from Leduc and 9 players from the zone.

MIDGETThe team finished regular season 4th overall (out of 9).This season the Midget team played Provincial Play downs for the first time in many years. They defeated Sylvan Lake in the first round and were subsequently defeated by Calmar in round 2.

Page 11: cloud.rampinteractive.comcloud.rampinteractive.com/leducmha/files/2017AGM.docx  · Web view2016/17 Season has been tough. We were starting from scratch with only 3 previous active

The team attended an Edson tournament in November and the Brooks tournament in January and had fun at all the team meals, events and at their paintball wind up.

MIDGET AAMidget AA had 18 skaters on their team this year. They worked very well as a team and had a lot of success. We would like to thank all players and staff for all of their hard work. We would also like to wish all of the players who will be moving on in the hockey world a lot of success.

FEMALEWith the changes to the Hockey Alberta female hockey program, the addition of our 2 Elite teams, our numbers were a bit lower for our recreational teams to start the season. We had a number of girls join our association from surrounding communities and on a regular basis we have families contact us about our female program for the upcoming season.

The Bantam team hosted a very successful provincial tournament and played very well. The tournament committee provided an excellent event with great experience for our female athletes

NCI FEMALEFor the most part the players on the Female Elite teams have really enjoying the 2016/2017 season. They have enjoyed the team environment, fitness factor and the level of play. They are very pleased that they have had well-planned practices and competitive coaching. Most everyone surveyed were impressed by the sportsmanship and respect demonstrated.

Congratulations to Hayleigh Dansereau of Millet who played for North Central Impact's (NCI) 2016-17 midget elite female team in the first-ever season of the AFHL. Hayleigh also performed officiating duties and was often seen reffing the local NCI Bantam Elite team games. Hayleigh is a graduating player who will be heading into the Biomedical Engineering program at the University of Victoria in the fall of 2017. Hayley won the inaugural AFHL Officiating Scholarship
