Hello everyone! My name is Brittani Kirkland and I am the new 4-H Livestock Agent in Larimer County. I am extremely excited to meet you all and to help each of you learn more about livestock on your quest to becoming active leaders and citizens in your communities.
I am originally from North Central Florida from a rural town near Gainesville. I grew up with animals and have had a passion for the livestock industry from a very young age. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Florida and then a Master’s degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University. I love animals and how the skills and knowledge I have acquired from working with animals continues to help me in my everyday interactions, both with animals and people! I have unique interests in the agricultural field, with extensive backgrounds in animal disaster preparedness, biosecurity, human perceptions of animals, animal behavior, and overall animal husbandry.
I am excited to get to work alongside each of you in the months ahead. I hope that we can work together to help you all achieve your goals, increase your overall animal knowledge, and develop your leadership ability and connections within the animal livestock industry. Feel free to contact me at anytime if you have questions, concerns, or just want to say hi!

A special “Thank you” to all of the Superintendents that made the 2019 Larimer County Fair a great success!
Superintendents spend hours of their own time planning, organizing and running the individual shows that make up the Fair.
If you enjoyed showing your animal or project at the County Fair this year, make sure you thank the Superintendents in charge of those project areas. The Fair is made possible through their time, knowledge and dedication to the 4-H program and the kids. Thank you Superintendents! Job well done!
Did you win a trophy, rosette ribbon, or a special award during County Fair? Have you written a thank you note to the sponsor? If you haven’t, please take a moment to write to them. They would love to hear who won the award they sponsored. Without their support, there would not be any awards. The name of your award sponsor was attached to the award. If you can't find the sponsor's name, contact the Extension Office, 970-498-6000.
The Larimer County 4-H Exchange Program is an opportunity for youth in the Larimer County 4-H program to participate in a series of learning experiences in which individuals join the Larimer County 4-H Exchange Club (in addition to their community-based club) and have the opportunity to visit in the homes of 4-H members in another geographical area, and are visited by them in return. Counties usually host a group one year and return to visit the homes of their guests the following year.
Exchange Club is a two year commitment, open to 4-H members ages 13 - 18 years. A new two-year program will begin in October 2019. Members participate in monthly club meetings and several fundraisers each year. Members raise funds to host a club from a different state and then to travel to that state the following year. Travel is usually done in June, as to not interfere with school or County Fairs.
If you are interested in finding out more about the Larimer County 4-H Exchange Club, or wish to join in the fun, please contact Stacy at; [email protected]

King Soopers Community Rewards Program has changed. Gift Cards designating Larimer County 4-H Youth Foundation will no longer have the funds automatically given to 4-H Foundation. The gift cards are still useable just without the designation. All that is needed now is to log into your King Soopers account and find Larimer County 4-H Foundation (HN240) then every time you show your King Soopers Rewards Card or give the phone number associated with the account it will give the 5% to the Larimer County 4-H Youth Foundation. This is going to save a lot of buying and loading gift cards and can be done all over the U.S. http://www.kingsoopers.com
The one downfall of this program is as a participant only one non-profit can be selected so if supporting other non-profits periodically you will have to go in and change the non-profit.

Looking to hire a goats to eat weeds.
I would like to hire a goat to eat weeds at my residential home in Fort Collins near Taft and Drake.
Our fenced back yard is full of very tall weeds and an old lawn. We plan to do some work in the fall to remove the planter boxes and re-sod the the lawn. I am looking for a way to manage the
weeds and old lawns with out using herbicides. Please contact me, if you are a goat owning family that might want to bring 1 to 2 goats to graze and de weed my backyard.
