It is with great pleasure to report that it has been another good year for our Club. I am happy to inform our members that we had a net profi t of $337,463 this year.

This result was achieved by a dedicated and hard working team with good fi nancial planning. I would like to thank fi rstly my fellow Directors for their hard work, and our management team led by General Manager, Michael Burgess, and all our dedicated staff for providing a great service to our members and guests.

Our support to a wide range of community, charitable bodies and sporting groups continued throughout the year. The Club also provided function rooms and amenities for various meetings and events held throughout the year.

Thank you to all the members of the Sub-Clubs, Men’s and Ladies Bowling, Snooker, Darts, Fishing and our Travelling Bowlers. Your contribution to our Club is very much appreciated. On the greens we have also had a competitive year. Both the Ladies and Men’s Pennant sides performing beyond expectations, with our Men’s grade 3 side went to Dubbo to play in the State Finals. Congratulations to everyone involved. Bring home the fl ag.

I would like to thank our previous Oxley Park Caravan Park Managers Garry & Sue, Peter & Ada for all the work they have put in over the past 5 years. Their expertise and knowledge of the industry has contributed to the success we are enjoying now. I welcome our new team Terry and Linda Duck to our Club and am confi dent they will continue on with the good work.

To all members who have lost loved ones during the year my sincere condolences.

Look forward to seeing you at the Club.

Page 5: Club Harrington Financial Report 2018 CONTENTS PR · 2019-05-29 · I respectfully present the Treasurer’s Report of Club Harrington, for the year ending 31st March 2018. Firstly

We have witnessed yet another successful year, with a profi t after depreciation of $337,463. This result is directly attributed to the continued support of our loyal members and the support of our local community. This success has allowed us to continue making improvements to both our Club’s facilities and that of the Caravan Park. This has been achieved whilst once again substantially reducing our Caravan Park debt, as you will no doubt see refl ected in the Annual Report.

During the year we completed many projects: major repairs to the auditorium air conditioner, including complete new duct work, further work in upgrading the clubs cabling and networks systems, ongoing repairs to the fi re maintenance system, continued improvement to our gaming installation and new pathways and surrounds at the caravan park. Although not concluded until this fi nancial year we have also completed the refurbishment of the auditorium toilets and the install of a complete new audio system. It is important to note all of these improvements to the Clubs assets which exceeded over 200k in costs have been achieved out of our current cash fl ow.

As a community club, we again contributed to our community by supporting many great causes both locally and further afi eld. One example of this was your support in our Biggest Morning Tea Fundraiser to raise $5642 for the Cancer Council, taking our total to $11,628 in the last three years for the Cancer Council. It makes me proud to be associated with all the volunteers, staff , members and the community. I off er my gratitude and thanks for your charitable eff orts in supporting this and many other worthwhile causes we support.

The success of our Club is not an accident and relies heavily on the positive working relationship and cohesion within the Board of Directors along with successful cooperation of the Management team, Staff , Volunteers and the Members of the Club.

I wish to thank all our staff who have been working hard at the Club for many years, along with our volunteers who play an integral role in our overall success. It is so important that their eff orts and commitment are not only recognised but acknowledged.

Finally my sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of those members who have passed away during the twelve months. May they rest in peace.

MICHAEL BURGESS ACCM General Manager 2017/18

GENERAL MANAGER’S REPORT

Page 6: Club Harrington Financial Report 2018 CONTENTS PR · 2019-05-29 · I respectfully present the Treasurer’s Report of Club Harrington, for the year ending 31st March 2018. Firstly

I respectfully present the Treasurer’s Report of Club Harrington, for the year ending 31st March 2018.

Firstly I would like to thank Michael and his staff for their co – operation and assistance during the year. The Club sustained regular income levels and increased the Membership over the last 12 months.

The surplus for the 2017/18 fi nancial year decreased marginally over the previous year. The Club is in a strong position for future years to come, with a very strong Balance Sheet. Cash remained buoyant and our Long Term Debt reduced considerably. Most Capital Projects have now been completed.

During my time, I have worked closely with all Board Members, Staff and fellow Directors to develop the Club to a new level. I have budgeted for an increase in Profi ts for the year ending 31 May 2019. Hopefully with the same level of participation by all concerned, the Club can achieve this goal.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Page 7: Club Harrington Financial Report 2018 CONTENTS PR · 2019-05-29 · I respectfully present the Treasurer’s Report of Club Harrington, for the year ending 31st March 2018. Firstly

As a Club I feel we have grown stronger & this cannot be achieved unless the committee obtains 100% support from Members & Club Harrington.

With the support maintained we can continue to make a substantial contribution of $7133.00 towards our Royal & Zone fees, which enabled Club Harrington to continue to reduce Bowling Member fees to $35 for the year 2018/2019. This is a great benefi t to bowling members & the Club in general, keeping Bowlers in the game longer & attracting new Bowling Members.

I would like to thank past President Jim Dyer for the fantastic support/knowledge I have received from him. For the remainder of our Committee, I could not have wished for a stronger support team. We have had a successful year both on the green & in the clubhouse with 8802 bowlers on the green (compared to 2016/2017 8727) 2018 May Carnival we had 591 bowlers, 45 down on last year, cost factors being the main reason (accommodation, fuel) otherwise we had many complimentary comments on the running of the Carnival & Green’s conditions.

We have done well fi nancially $64,675 in green fees, over $19,000 in raffl es & bowls accessories. We paid out $19,856 in prize money (30.7%) This was all achieved due to the support of our bowlers, sponsors and general members in supporting our raffl es & other social events.

We have enjoyed total co-operation from & with the board of Club Harrington under Chairman KerryMcDonald, General Manager Michael Burgess & his staff & look forward to a good ongoing working relationship.

Chris Derks & his helpers have given us the best greens in our Zone, thanks for the eff ort put in.

Bill Burgess Umpire Co-Ordinator, Bill unfortunately has decided to retire from his roll, we thank Bill for his dedication & time at the helm & also thank you to all other umpires and coaches.

Pennants, we have enjoyed a very good year with our 3’s there off to Dubbo to play State Finals in August, our 7’s made it to sectional & lost to Taree West, 4’s & 6’s next year awaits. Dave Whitmore & his team, job well done.

From 2019 the Men & Lady Bowlers will have new shirts for Pennants & Championships. These shirts will be Sponsored by HYUNDAI (shirt back), COUNTRY COLOURS (sleeve), PROFESSIONALS HARRINGTON (sleeve) Business House Bowls has been very successful & will revert back to 16 teams 2018/2019, this will make it much more manageable when our Green goes out.

Our Big Night was a great success to raise funds for the Cancer Council run by Club Harrington, with 93 bowlers on the greens, well done.

Club Championships proceeding as planned, winners Major Singles Mathew Pearce, Major Pairs Craig Colligan & Mathew Pearce.

On behalf of our Bowls Committee & myself, we would like to thank our Club Members & Harrington Community for your continued support.

PETER PLEVEY President 2017/18
