Investigation #1

Not all markers will “run” when exposed to a liquid. Testing the ability of ink to separate is known as chromatography.

We have collected a blue marker from our 4 suspect’s classrooms. It will be your mission to test each marker to figure out whose marker was left at the crime scene.

Investigation #2

Some powders will react differently when exposed to various test liquids.

On our search to gather evidence, we located samples of different powders from each classroom. However, we do not know which one is baking soda. It will be your job to investigate each powder to determine which one is!

Importance

Because we know the exact area and perimeter of the perpetrators classroom, we can figure out which suspect left the “Carpet Giant” invoice at the scene of the crime. Drawings of each suspects classrooms have been created. Your mission is to find the area or perimeter of each room.
