India achieving rapid and inclusive growth with sustainable development in rural sector

As per the World Bank report improvement in the access to education is only 7.4% children are out of school and 97% towns and villages have either a regular school or alternative centre within a Km

Setting up of ECE centres remains a privilege for many young children in India

SERP facilitated community mobilization to create an enabling atmosphere for more child care practices by empowering the local community

Contd…..Education in Pre Schools in Rural and Tribal areas

became a dream to poorest of the poor families.SERP has facilitated the dream into reality by

setting up of BALABADI – our village our school concept in all tribal villages and habitations for the benefit of the children from 3 to 5 years.

The instructor belongs to the local community a 10th class passed unemployed youth between 18 to 25 years.

These centres will be managed and monitored by the women from Self Help Groups.

TLM will be low cost and no cost aids .CMES5

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM

To lay good foundation to the tribal children from 3-5 year olds

To facilitate the child in all round development

To provide learning environment through play way and joyful learning

To facilitate working mothers by sending their children to ECE centers

To reduce dropout rate in Primary Education

ROLE OF COMMUNITY

An Educational sub committee constituted at the Village Organization(VO) level

The VO takes up ECE agenda on every Representative Governing Body(RGB) meeting and review the activities of ECE centres

The committee is responsible for proper up keeping and functioning of the school and accountable to the sub committees

It monitors the revolving fund of Rs.2.50 lakh(USD 500) per centre given as corpus to VO

PUBLIC REPORT

Teacher presents a public report to the parents and villagers on last Saturday of every month famously known as “School Festival Day”

Children demonstrate and exhibit learning outcomes of the current month

It enables the community to strengthen the accountability process

PARENT-TEACHERS MEETING

Parent-Teacher meetings is conducted on last Saturday of the month

The strengths and weaknesses of each child are discussed

Minutes of the meeting are noted in the register for follow up

EvaluationPerformance of the Instructor and children will

be evaluated by the cluster coordinator and submit the report to the VO and MMS. A format is designed for evaluation which covers the comprehension and expression of the language and numerical ability.

After the evaluation of the progress of the children and performance of the Instructor salary to the instructor will be paid by the VO during the public reporting.

This will create a sense of owning up of the program by the community.
