skilled engineer and also the influence of my grandfather who was a fitter here at the mine for 30 years.

understanding of physics in a practical way. I felt an apprenticeship was a better way to develop my skills in engineering, as it offers more experience than a university course.
• My hobbies include:- Playing guitar and Piano.- Astronomy - Travelling

Recruitment Process • The Apprenticeship was advertised in the local press.• We applied by sending off our individual CV’s.• Initial interview with HR and Engineering managers. • Mine visit/Trade test/Second interview.

Training programme structure
• The Apprenticeship programme we are on is multi-skilled. This means we will be studying both mechanical and electrical disciplines as part of a long term strategy for the Company providing higher performance and an efficient workplace.
• In order to achieve this our training consists of:- Day release to Stoke-on-Trent Technical College to complete
PEO2(Performing Engineering Operations Level 2) and Electrical Installation Level 2.
- 1 training day a week onsite in the training centre with the Electrical Trainer (Terry Pointen)
- 1 training day a week onsite in the training centre with the Mechanical Trainer (Mike Peacock)
- 2 Working days on-site with our mentors to gain practical experience in the workplace

Solution: Turn on the lights at a later time.
