INTRODUCTION

CMS Search extension allows your customers to search in the static content of your site. The search in Magento is no longer limited to products but extends to your CMS pages and categories pages!

SETUP

1) DISABLE COMPILATION

If compilation is enabled, please disable it in System Tools Compilation

2) COPY AND PASTE FILES

Copy files from the zip to your Magento in accordance with Magento folder tree. If you have a customized design, please copy files from app/design/frontend/default/default to app/design/frontend/default/your_theme. IMPORTANT! If you have the free version of Cms Search please remove it before.

3) REFRESH THE CACHE

Refresh the cache, even if disabled, in System Cache Management

4) DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT TO ADMINISTRATION PANEL

To access to the Cms Search extension configuration interface you need to disconnect and connect again to the administration panel.

5) CONFIGURE THE EXTENSION

Cms Search configuration is available in System Configuration Cms search (General). For more information please refer to “how to use” section.

6) REINDEX DATA

To finish, please don’t forget to reindex “Catalog Search Index” in System Index Management

HOW TO USE

EXTENSION CONFIGURATION

1) Go to : System Configuration Cms search (General)

2) Choose your needed options

3) After each modification in these options, don’t forget to reindex “Catalog Search Index”. Keep in mind that if

you don’t do that, your configuration won’t be supported.

From the administration panel, you can modify search parameters

ADD WEIGHT IN SEARCH FIELD

1) QUERY WITH FIELD’S WEIGHT DISABLED

Searching with keyword tangkoko, every field has its default weight.

To get more relevant results, you can add a weight on every kind of search field. Heavier is the field’s weight, more relevant the term will

be in search

1) QUERY WITH FIELD’S WEIGHT ENABLED

A weight of 20 has been set to the content field. Every other field has a default weight of 1.

You may have to reindex data before processing a request.

The page with “Tangkoko” title does not contain this keyword in his content unlike the page “Comparison”, so it comes out first.

FAQ

DO I MUST REINDEX DATA EVERY TIME I MODIFIED A CMS OR CATEGORY PAGE?

No, if you modify a cms or a category page the reindexation is done automatically. In this way you can immediately see your change on the website.

WHICH MAGENTO VERSION IS SUPPORTED?

Almost all of them: 1.3+ (1.8.0 included) for Community Edition and 1.11.0.0-1.13.0.0 for Enterprise Edition

HOW CAN I DESIGN THE RENDERING PAGE?

The rendering page is in app design frontend default default template cmssearch result.phtml You can easily modify it to suit your needs.

WHEN I REINDEX DATA I’VE GOT “ERROR 500”

It may happen if you have lots of CMS pages, Categories or Products. In order to avoid this error you have to increase your max_execution_time php configuration (in the php.ini).

HOW TO REMOVE CMS SEARCH PRO?

To remove CMS Search Pro you have to delete in the eav_attribute table the « is_searchable » attribute. And to finish in the core_resource table remove cmssearch_setup.
