Step by Step

STEP 1 - Position SamplePosition sample material on the self-leveling or universal vise. No need to worry about sampleorientation. The T-BAR rotation tool allows you to orient the stage pattern at any angle.

STEP 2 - Set Stage PatternLoad a predefined stage pattern or define a new one with a few simple mouse clicks. Positionstage to the sample starting point and set the origin. You can set up to 36 samples or traversesof any number of indents.

STEP 3 - Run SequenceLaunch the test by clicking on the run icon. The system intelligently follows the predefined patternand focuses automatically when needed. Indents are measured instantaneously and data generated dynamically.

STEP 4 - ReportReview statistical results in graphical and/or tabular format. Export results to the spreadsheetapplication of your choice or simply print standard or customized reports.

Accurate Results

Using a PAL format camera, you will get an image resolution of 756 x 576 pixels- that’s 42% more reso-lution than a generally used RS-170/NTSC format camera. With this resolution, indents can accurately be measured according to the ASTM E-384 standard using absolute calibration - unlike subjective calibra-tion methods used by other systems.

Repeatable Measures

With computer controlled load and timing, focus (0.1 microns per step), shading correction, and DC regulated light source capabilities, results are extracted objectively and are reproducible regardless of the number of indents measured. The graph to the left demonstrates a run that shows a ± 2.4 HV variation for 25 consecutive measures on the same indent, with auto-focus for each measure.

Standards Compliant

ISO and other standards' compliance measures are simplified with built in validation functions. By indenting and measuring various certified test blocks prior to an actual analysis routine you can eliminate the potential for errors and inefficiencies. Predetermined validation intervals can be established to periodically ensure that the system meets standards.

Precise Indents

With the use of the reference circle, you can indent at a precise distance from the sample edge. All it takes is to define the diameter of a circle, position it from the edge and create a stage pattern. Diagonals can subsequently be measured accurately using sophisticated built-in image analysis functions

Multiple Conversion Tables

You can easily set-up the system to measure Knoop or Vickers impressions according to standard industry hardness scales including Rockwell A, B, and C. In addition, up to six user-defined conversion tables are also available. Asfor case depth, calculations can be extracted automatically by selecting the case hardness value. A total of 4 case depths can be displayed simultaneously on the same graph.

Flexible Report Generation

Versatile Test Patterns

With a complete stage control interface, you can rapidly create one or multiple indentation patterns. A few mouse clicks will enable you to save, copy, or paste your patterns to predefined locations. The T-BAR rotation tool allowsyou to rotate your pattern at any angle to accommodate sample tilt or to ensure perpendicularity to an edge. Up to 36 patterns per run can be implemented.

Instantaneous Data Review

Following an automated run, individual indents can be tracked by clicking on the numbered impression. Intelligent software accurately remembers where the impression was made and automatically moves the stage to the chosenindent. You can choose to not include or re-measure the impression manually with the movable gridlines. When excluded or re-measured, statistics are updated on the fly.
