step on the coaching ladder. You need to begin by researching the different skills, qualities and responsibilities associated with successful sports coaches.

Scenario:You are undertaking an NGB level 1 qualification. As an introduction to the course you have been asked to produce a performance profile that describes your favourite coach. Your profile should draw from the areas outlined below (roles, responsibilities and skills). You will then use this to write a short biography of your ‘perfect coach’ explaining why these roles, responsibilities and skills are important (M1) using coaches from different sports as examples. To achieve the distinction criterion (D1) you will need to compare and contrast (similarities and differences) these factors with regards to the coaches you selected for the merit part. This profile can be done in a format of your choice.

Scenario:As part of your NGB level 1 qualification you will need to complete a coaching session plan including the criteria below.

Task 3Produce a coaching session plan which MUST include:Activities: e.g. basic sports coaching, modified activities for special populations (crab football, short tennis, mini basketball), fitness sessions (circuit training, exercise to music)Plan to include: aims/objectives of the session; participants e.g. age, ability, gender, numbers; resources e.g. equipment, time, venue; legal requirements (e.g. CRB checks if working with children) (P4)

Deliver a sports coaching session, with tutor support to your classmates (P5)

Independently deliver a sports coaching session to your classmates (M3)

The purpose of this assignment is to:You will demonstrate practical application of the theory/research from previous tasks. You need to deliver your session in a professional manner taking into account all the roles, responsibilities and skills of a coach, as well as the coaching techniques

discussed in tasks 1 & 2. Then you will need to review your own and the participants’ performance.

Scenario:After you have delivered the session that you planned in task 3 to your fellow level 1 NGB qualification candidates. You will then need to provide a review of the session with regards to your own and the participant’s performance offering feedback on strengths and areas for improvement for both.
