Minutes of April Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Coastal Quilters Guild of Northeast Florida was held on April 6, 2017 at the Nep-tune Beach Senior Activity Center. President, Yvonne Wecker called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. at the sound of the bell. The minutes of the March meeting were approved as corrected.

This will also help with accounting for all money via IRS rules, as we are classified as a Social Club/Non Profit. Presi-dent, Yvonne Wecker yielded the floor to By-Laws Chair Patti Sanders who reviewed in detail, proposed changes to the Guild’s By-Laws:

The purpose of the Coastal Quilters Guild of Northeast Florida is to preserve the heritage of quilting, to be a source of information and inspiration, to perpetuate a high quality of excellence in quilting and related arts, and to be a gathering for people with a common interest.

President’s Message Greetings BQFs (Best Quilty Friends)

A good friend is like a warm quilt wrapped around the heart. While this may not be an original thought, it does sum up the bonds of friendship, camaraderie and hospitality of soul we have in our Guild. This past meeting, we managed some or-ganizational heavy lifting. It was a bit like rearranging the furniture in the house; not always a fun task especially when we uncover the dust bunnies under the sofa. We almost got stuck in a couple of the rooms, but with the help of the whole group, we accomplished the task.

So, with the heavy lifting done, my focus is now on fostering an environ-ment of kindness, patience, and understanding along with all of our Quilty fun.

We are 93 members strong and our common thread is our love of quilting.

Yvonne

The Row by Row BOM will finish in May. Janet

Faust and Erin Evans sent out a separate email with the details and will be finishing this project, so please bring in your finished Row by Row quilts to share!

Pin Cushion Exchange sign up will be at the May meeting. Here is how it will work:

If you would like to participate, put your name (please write legibly) on a strip of paper and put it in the con-tainer provided.

During the meeting, a designated Guild member will draw names and assign them with others that have signed up for the exchange. This way there will be a list of who is making a pin cushion for whom. If you forget your person's name, you will be able to find out!

You will be given a slip with your person's name be-fore the meeting ends. It's a secret!

Please bring your completed pin cushions to the July meeting, and we'll have a great time finding out who made them. I hope you join in on the fun!

Robyn Arrington

Handwork With Friends

There is a group which meets at the Senior Center on Tuesday morn-ings. It is called Handwork with Friends.

This group is made up of women who enjoy doing handwork. That is anything that can be put into a bag or basket….knitting, crochet work, embroidery, hand sewing (bindings) and even hemming and mending.

It is wonderful to see what everyone is working on and fun to “show off” a finished project. What is even better, there is always someone to help you understand a part of the directions that seem to be written in a foreign language. Come join us and have an enjoyable morning.
