    Protective Coating Specifications

11.16 Coating System 9: Light Duty Area Non-Skid Steel Deck Coating

Surface Preparation Grit blast to ISO 8501-1 [7] SA2.5 Blast profile 75 m to 100 m Blast roughness:- Quadrant 3 of the Elcometer 125 Surface Roughness Comparator

Primer Zinc Phoshate Epoxy 50 m NDFT

    1st

Coat Modified Epoxy 350 m NDFT

    Aggregate Non-Sparking Aggregate N/A

    2nd

Coat Modified Epoxy 200 m NDFT

    Total 600 m NDFT

Notes: i) Coating system 8 shall be used on decks not subject to heavy traffic.

ii) Roof surfaces where there is no normal access shall be coated with Coatings System 9 without the aggregate.

iii) Where written permission for the use of mechanical surface preparation methods has been given by BG Tunisia, Coating System 8M is to be used.

11.17 Coating System 9M: Light Duty Area Non-Skid Steel Deck Coating Mechanically Prepared Surfaces

Surface Preparation Mechanically Prepare to SSPC-SP11 [33]

Primer Zinc Phoshate Epoxy 50 m NDFT

    1st

Coat Modified Epoxy 350 m NDFT

    Aggregate Non-Sparking Aggregate N/A

    2nd

Coat Modified Epoxy 200 m NDFT

    Total 600 m NDFT

Notes: i) The performance of Coating System 9 is degraded when applied to a mechanically prepared surface. System 9M shall only be used to repair small isolated breakdown areas.

11.18 Coating System 10: Insulated & Uninsulated Ferritic and Stainless Steels

This Coating System is applicable to:

    a) New build or replacement insulated austenitic stainless steel pressure vessels, pipe, fittings and in-line components with PREN < 30 operating in the range 60C to 150C.

    b) New build or replacement Insulated austenitic stainless steel pressure vessels, pipe, fittings and in-line components with PREN < 30 operating above 150C but cycling into the range 60C to 150C.

    c) New build or replacement insulated austenitic stainless steel equipment, piping & in-line components with 30 PREN < 40 operating in the range 100C to 150C.
