COBALT PRO

TECHNICAL FAETURESAir-cooled water chiller unit with semi-hermetic screw com-pressors and shell and tube evaporators.

STRUCTUREHolding frame module made of galvanised sheet metal and painted with polyester powders RAL 5014 at 180°C, which guarantee very high resistance to atmospheric agents. Stain-less steel bolts and screws.

COMPRESSORS (version basic, HE and SLN)Screw semihermetic compressors with continuous partialisa-tion from 25% to 100% of the load, which enable to maximise the energy yield of the unit in every functioning condition. Start-up and switch off of the machine happen with a partia-lisation of 25%.

The compressors are equipped with a carter heater, ensure lubrication from the pressure difference between flow and intake, independent cooling circuits.

The motor has an electronic integral protection with tempera-ture sensors directly inserted inside the windings and on the flow piping. Start-up is the ”star-delta” type..

COMPRESSORS (varsion HEi)Version units provide HEi 1 compressor (for units with 2 or 3 circuits) or 2 compressors (for units with 4-circuit) driven by an inverter. SI is semi-hermetic screw compressors with integrated AC inverter and stepless from 25% to 100%.

The other unit compressors are semi-hermetic screw com-pressors with stepped.

The shutting of the entire unit is always of the continuous type, by the minimum step of capacity (the number of compressors) up to 100%.

Goodwill compressor inverter is ”Direct On Line” with an ac-celeration ramp managed by the inverter while the start-up of steps compressor steps is the “star-delta” type.

COMPRESSORS (version XEi)Semi-hermetic screw compressors with integrated AC inverter and stepless partialization from 25% to 100%.

The start of the compressors is ”Direct On line” with an ac-celeration ramp managed by the inverter

CONDENSERS In cooling only units consisting of aluminum microchannel coils, instead are an alluminium-finned copper-tube multi-row coils in the heat pump units.

Through continuous research in the field of metal alloys and sophisticated production techniques, microchannel coils are made using specific aluminum alloys for the tubes and the fins. This drastically reduces the effects of galvanic corrosion, always guaranteeing the protection of pipes that contain the refrigerant. Tubes and fins are also subjected to processes of SilFLUX coating (or equivalent) or the addition of zinc to further

increase the corrosion resistance.

Optional e-coated microchannel coils are available if the unit needs to be installed in environments with a particularly ag-gressive atmosphere. They are strongly recommended for use in coastal or highly industrialised areas.

Using microchannel coils instead of those in copper/aluminum reduce the overall weight of the unit by approx. 10% and that of the refrigerant charge by a least 30%.

The layout of the ”V” coils makes the unit very compact and simultaneously guarantee an increase in the air intake area leaving ample space for the cooling and hydraulic circuit com-ponents to be set.

To protect the exchangers from corrosion and to ensure the unit operates properly, follow the recommendations reported in the use, installation and maintenance manual to clean the coils.

For installations within one kilometre from the coast, we strongly recommend using Cu/Al coils with an anti-corrosion treatment for cold-only units as well.

ELECTRIC FANSOf axial type, with conveyor, studied to optimise efficiency and reduce sound

emission, directly coupled to 6 poles three phase electric mo-tor, with thermal

protection (internal klixon). The protection rating of the motor is IP 54. The fan

includes the accident-prevention grill

EVAPORATORCoating and dry expansion shell and tube.

Optimised for use with R134a, allows to improve the unit COP, containing cooling load and overall sizes.

TESTINGAll units are factory tested and supplied complete with oil and refrigerant charge.

COBALT PRO HEThis unit is fitted with smaller compressors and bigger cop-per tube aluminium finned coils, in order to enhance the ratio between heat exchange surfaces and compressor power. This results in greater energy efficiency (high EER and COP) and high seasonal efficiency ratio (ESEER).

COBALT PRO SLN The unit has a soundproofed compressor compartment as in the /LN version, meaning that the fans can run at lower speeds so that at nominal operating conditions the airflow – and consequently the noise level – is less than in the standard version. However, the fan-speed control makes the fans run at full speed when required by the outdoor air temperature, so the unit works within the same operating range of the COBALT PRO HE

COBALT PRO HEiAlso called ”hybrid unit”, in this version the unit uses a com-pressor driven by an inverter together with one or more con-ventional compressors. The control handle the mix of these compressor ensuring ongoing management of partilization from the minimum step up to 100% of the capacity.

The unit is highly efficient with ESEER levels that exceed 4.6.

COBALT PRO XEiFull Inverter version, uses compressors driven by inverter only. The control manages the partialization of the compressors in order to guarantee, in every load condition, the maximum effi-ciency of the unit, reaching levels of ESEER that, in combination with the of EC fans, exceeds 5

/HP: reversible heat pumpAs well as the components of the corresponding base range, the units include:

4-way inversion valve, intake separator, liquid accumulator, se-cond electronic expansion valve. Enabling of the microproces-sor for summer/winter switch-over and automatic defrosting, with Blue Box Patented logic that allows to

optimise the intervention and the duration of defrosting, which is managed independently for every compressor

Options

/DC: unit with recovery condenserAs well as the components of the corresponding base range, on every refrigerant circuit the unit includes a recovery con-denser of 100% of the condensation heat for the production of hot water, a liquid receiver and the refrigerant system for emptying the refrigerant fluid from the condensing coil, when necessary, when recovery is activated. The condenser might be as shell or tube type. The control automatically manages the activation of the recovery on the basis of the water tempera-ture and the deactivation of the safety device of the recovery itself due to high pressure. Not available in the HP version.

/DS: unit with desuperheatersAs well as the components of the corresponding basic ver-sion, on every refrigerant circuit the unit has a recovery heat exchanger of 20% of condensation heat, placed in series with the condensing coil. The heat exchanger is the braze-welded

plate type or shell and tube. To maximise the use of the ac-cessory, coupling with the fan rev. regulator is recommended. This version is also available in the HP set-up. In this case the interception of the recovery water circuit must be envisioned in installation during functioning in HP mode, as indicated in the manual.

/LN: low noise unitAs well as the components of the corresponding base range, the unit envisions the compressors compartment completely noise insulated with sound absorbing material and sound im-peding material .

/HAT: High Air TemperatureThe accessory allows the unit to work with outside air tempe-ratures above 45°C as shown in the operating limits specified in the dedicated section and consists of the use, inside the electrical panel, raceways resistant to high temperatures, spe-cial cables and oversized protection.

/HWT: High Water temperatureThanks to the compressors with dedicated electric motor, al-lows to reach temperatures of water produced that are higher than the standard range

/ST: hydraulic module unitThe unit can be supplied with an insulated inertial storage tank and circulation pumps. The following configurations are possible:

• /ST 1P: with 1 pump

• /ST 1PS: with 1 pump and tank

• /ST 2P: with 2 pumps

• /ST 2PS: with 2 pumps and tank

All hydronic models are also available in the following versions:

• For PM and PMS: with increased working head pumps, with and without an inertial tank.

• For PG and PGS: with pumps suitable to work with fluids with glycol up to 50%, with and without a tank.

The version with 2 circulation pumps (one on stand-by for the other, both sized for 100% capacity) switches automatically in case of a fault or if timed. The following accessories will also be included: expansion tank, check valves (with the exception of the 1P and 1PS version) and an intake gate valve (only in the versions with a tank).
