Keeping chickens behind backyards Our ranger would like to remind that 12 week-chicks should be re-located to designated areas (ie. Garden plot), away from residential houses and kampong area. Chicken pens for <12 week chicks that are located in backyards should not be placed directly on the ground at any time. I would like advise that all chicken pens should carry a sheet underneath for the purpose of catching chicken manure to avoid from entering straight through the ground and into our freshwater lens. This Superb Fairy-Wren flew in from Rosebud, Victoria to the gardens near year 3 - 6 classroom on West Island this morning.

Mrs. Mason asked some of her class to take the bird to show Geof and Pam who are passionate bird watchers. They were amazed and delighted to see him, as the only ones they had seen before were the Splendid Fairy-Wren in Albany, WA.

Couples that cuddle can become addicted to one another and even go through withdrawal when they’re apart as a result of oxytocins.

Two species of mullet are found in the lagoon at Cocos (Keeling) Islands; diamond scale mullet (Liza vaigiensis) and sea mullet (Mugli cephalus). Both species have small triangular mouths, two separate dorsal fins and no lateral line – the organ that helps fish detect movement and vibration in surrounding water. They mainly feed on algae and have very small teeth.

Diamond scale mullet (Liza vaigiensis) is one of the biggest species of mullets growing to over 50cm in length. They are easily identified by their distinct diamond shaped scales that have a black edge. They are often seen in large schools.

Diamond scale mullet and sea mullet are popular fish to target using a net in the lagoon at the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

Nets are an effective fishing method, but if used inappropriately nets can result in high and unsustainable catches of a number of species, including juvenile fish which use the lagoon as a nursery.

Under the proposed recreational fishing rules for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, diamond scale mullet and sea mullet will be included in the lagoon mixed species bag limit of 40 fish per day. This means that a person may not take more than 40 mullet per day. There will also be restrictions on the length and mesh size of the net that may be used, and some closed areas to netting.

Kedua-dua jenis mempunyai mulut berupa segitiga, dua sirik belakang dan tidak ada garisan tengahbadan - bahgian badan yang membantu ikan meresa pegerakkan dan gentaran dilautan sekitarnya. Merea banyak makan lumut dan mempunyai gigi-gigi yang sangat kecil.

Sapitam (Liza vaigiensis) adalah salahsatu jenis belanak yang membesar melebihi 50cm panjangnya. Mereka senang dikenal dengan sirik mereka yang seperti berlian yang mempunyai pinggiran hitam. Mereka biasa dilihat dalam kumpulan yang besar.

Sapitam dan belanak adalah ikan yang laku diambdil dengan menggunakan jarring di lagoon Pulu Cocos (Keeling).

Jaring adalah cara pemancingan yang sangat berhasil, tetapi kalau tidak digunakan dengan baik jarring boleh menyebabkan penangkapan yang sangat tinggi terhadap

berberapa jenis, temasuk anak-anak ikan dimana menggunakan lagoon sebagai tempat membesar.

Dibawah undang-undang pemancingan rekreasi yang dicadangkan untuk Pulu Cocos (Keeling), sapitam dan belanak akan termasuk dalam bag limit jenis campuran 40 ikan sehari. Ini bermaksud yang seorang tidak boleh mengambil lebih daripada 40 jenis kedua-dua belanak ini dalam sehari. Ada juga pelarangan terhadap jaring panjang dan saiz mata jaring yang digunakan, dan kawasan-kawasan yang ditutup untuk dijaring.

Techniques to Quit Smoking.

Knowing Reasons

It is really good to know reasons about giving up Smoking. Reasons can be any. If the reasons are your own, not someone else’s then it would be easier for you to follow the plan for quit smoking.

Get Ready

Consult the doctor to know about the medicines and help available in your area for the people, who want to quit smoking.

Medication helps a lot in quit smoking. It makes the process easier by lowering the temptations.

Set Your Goals

Try to set the clear goals. Set a quit date and time and follow it strictly. Reward yourself on achieving the goals.

It takes several weeks in quitting smoking, it takes sometime so, don’t give up your efforts and lose heart, if initially you are not achieving your goals.

Try to plan realistic goals because you cannot quit smoking in 10 to 20 days.

Make Few Changes

Try to take off all the Cigarettes, Ashtrays and lighters from the home. Try to avoid the smell of smoke. Clean the house, clothes etc to throw away all the reminders etc.

Don’t let people smoke at your place. Try to avoid the company of those, who smoke.

Take all the reminders from your car as well.

Try to read the Smoking Journals etc it would help you in getting information about the tough things about quitting smoking.

If Tried to Quit in Past

If you have tried to quit smoking in past, try those attempts again, those may be helpful for your success.

New Skills and Behaviours

Think about ways, you can avoid Smoking.

Think about situations, in which you want to smoke and try to stay away from them. Plan to deal with those situations.

Change and adapt your daily schedule.

Try to avoid Stress, calm yourself keeping yourself busy in different activities etc.

Try to spend time with non-smokers.

Support of Loved Ones

Support of parents, friends and other loved ones is an important motivator of quit smoking. Their support makes the process easier for an individual.

The recycling bin is certainly a greener option that disposing of them with your household waste, but they can also be reused. Even though around half a billion email greeting cards are sent each year globally, paper based cards are still very popular.
