WHAT IS A LOCKDOWN?

• All entrances to the school are locked

• No one can enter or leave the school for ANY

reason

• All Classroom doors are locked by teachers

• Shades are drawn over windows

• Lights are turned off

• No one may enter or leave a classroom for ANY

reason

CODE BLUE

CODE BLUE: STUDENT’S JOB

• When you hear CODE BLUE over the

intercom immediately stop what you are

doing and listen for instruction

• No one should be talking – the room

should completely silent.

• Move out of your desk and onto the floor

• Listen - your teacher will direct you to an

area out of sight, away from windows and

doors

REMEMBER:

• You should not be talking

• You should not be laughing or

making ANY sounds

• Your safety depends on the threat

believing the room is empty – all

must be silent

WHAT IF I AM IN THE HALLS OR BATHROOM?

• Immediately go into the NEAREST

CLASSROOM

• It doesn’t matter if you know the teacher or

who is in the class.

• Your whereabouts will be communicated to

your teacher after the CODE BLUE is clear

• Do not wait – immediately join the nearest

classroom

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

• Remain silently in the locked classroom

• Do no open the door for ANYONE for ANY REASON – even if they say they are a lost student or a police officer

• Do not leave the classroom for ANY REASON - even if it the fire alarm goes off

• Remain in lockdown until Mr. Vergara/Mr. Sheldon give an all clear over the intercom
