Codes & Conventions Of A Newspaper AdvertisementAs I am creating my own documentary it is important that I create ways of advertising it one of the ways I have decided to advertise it is through a newspaper advertisement in a form of a poster. It was important hat I studied the codes and conventions of how they are formed in order to ensure that mine would look as professional as it could. Through research I decided that my documentary would be on channel 4 as it suits the needs of the documentary so I have mainly researched into the ways that this channel does their advertising so that my poster would follow this.
Clear title of what the documentary is called
Logo of what channel the documentary is going to be shown on. Black colour blending with the colour scheme but not so you cant see the logo.
Eye catching logo linking to the content of the documentary.
Clear date & time of when the documentary is going to be on.
Eye catching image linking to the documentary – simple colour scheme yet still eye catching & in the basic landscape format.
Colourful eye catching image relevant to the documentary. Simple theme yet catchy going with a colour scheme of red in the basic landscape format.
Logo of what channel its going to be on which is clear and stands out on the page
Banner including specific and important details about the programme – Title of the programme & the date that the series starts on.
Channel 4 logo included along with a twist whereby the character involved in the advertisement has got hold of the channel logo which almost makes the advertisement different and more effective.
Banner linking with the colour scheme including the important bits about the documentary such as the name of the documentary itself and also the date and time it is on.
Sponsor of the programme in small print at the top of the poster.

Banner including the channel, title & date – I think that this poster could do with improvement on the quality of the logo as it isn't very clear.
