President’s Message We are well into 2019, and as I write this, spring is trying really hard to come alive! Have you heard about our rain barrel sale?? Check out rainbarrel.ca/Codrington for details and to order. Pick up will be at the hall on May 10th. There will be plenty of time to collect the spring rain and get your gardens going. We also have the amazing trout dinner on April 27; if you don’t have tickets you should get them soon, this event always sells out. There are so many more amazing events coming up in the next couple of months: The Military Wives Choir will be joining us, the Farmers’ Market opens, and we will have a giant yard sale, just to name a few! Be sure to read this newsletter and check out our Facebook page for more details. These fundraising activities could not happen without our wonderful volunteers who are part of the Codrington Community Association (CCA). Our regular CCA board meetings are on the 4th Tuesday of every month. These are open meetings with no obligation to join the board. We welcome everyone who would like to come out and learn more about what the CCA is about. We have a lot of fun and accomplish a few things too! I would like to thank our amazing volunteers, who continue to come out week after week and coordinate all the activities we enjoy in Codrington! Tuesday Breakfast • 9amThe breakfast is still very reasonably priced but also helps maintain community and friendship. People start arriving at 8:00 for the 9:00 serving – just so they can catch up on local news! Many friendships have been made here, and these are far more important than the breakfast itself. Every second week features homemade pancakes with local (real) maple syrup, a real crowd favourite. Every week features Jessica’s joke, plus a tray full of prizes and “Share the Wealth” money. Our customers have been quick to lend a hand for the clean-up and they help with serving when we are short-handed. This is what “community” is all about. Everyone is welcome. If you are new to the area please join us at least once. It’s like eating just one potato chip. Liana Palmer, 613-475-4005

Thursday Line Dancing • 9:30amLine dancing starts again in May. Bonnie offers instructions, and you can’t help feeling happy as you dance to the music. You don’t need any expertise; beginners are welcome. There is no charge for this event; a donation for coffee is appreciated. Bonnie Browne, 613-475-0915

Jeannita’s SoupJeannita is still selling homemade soup on Thursday mornings for $2 a litre; please “reuse” and bring your own mason jar to refill. Every week features something different. This is a good time for a chat over coffee or tea, plus whatever she took out of the oven. We can always use additional volunteers, so if you would like to join “the crew,” please give your name and phone number to Jeannita.

Monday Night Music • 6:30pmWe have music for everyone on Monday Nights! Codrington Community Center is the place to be if you want to dance to some great classic country music. This is an open mic event, so bring your favorite instrument and voice to sing a song or two. We have a top-notch full back-up band if you just want to sing. Tea, coffee, pop and water are always available. Many of our guests bring a multitude of snacks to keep you going for the evening. It’s always inviting and fun. All are welcome to come out and share the music. Ken Birney, Peggy Nancarrow, & Terry Taylor, 613-475-3269
