Nearby Live Water:Within a half hour drive of Whispering Winds Ranch, owners can enjoy year-round world-class fly fishing on both the
North and South Fork of the Shoshone River. The South Fork is one of the most under-fished rivers in the Yellowstone
area. The South Fork originates in the Washakie Wilderness Area and winds out of the Absaroka Range through almost 25
miles of public land. Wade fishing is great June through October for cutthroat, rainbow and brook trout ranging from 8 to
12 inches. Rushing down the Wapiti Valley from Yellowstone National Park’s east entrance to the Buffalo Bill Reservoir is
the North Fork of the Shoshone River. Easily accessible from the scenic Wapiti Valley Highway, this river becomes a dry fly
angler’s haven in early fall. Don’t miss the browns in October as they run upstream from the Buffalo Bill Reservoir during
their annual spawning migration. Yellowstone cutthroat and rainbow trout in the 10 to 14-inch class, with occasional
prizes exceeding 20 inches, can be found in the upper two-thirds of the North Fork.
Wildlife:The setting at Whispering Winds Ranch provides one of the area’s most diverse wildlife viewing environments. Surrounded
by private landowners the ranch is home to many different species of wildlife. The ranch hay fields and wetland marsh
areas provide excellent feed and habitat for trophy mule and whitetail deer throughout the winter months. Once raised on
the ranch, pheasants are abundant along with other wildlife including, antelope, fox, coyotes and an occasional elk. Bear,
moose, mountain lion, wolves, bobcats, and bighorn sheep can all be found in the nearby Shoshone National Forest. This
Wyoming ranch provides plenty of viewing opportunities for various types of hawks, eagles, owls, grouse and songbirds.

Area History:
The historical significance of this property is captured in the American history of World War II. The ranch is comprised of
most of the lands that interred Japanese Americans resulting in the Heart Mountain Japanese Internment Center of WWII.
The area is well known for its true western heritage and lifestyle. Mixed with Native American and ranching history, Cody’s
surrounding mountains, rivers and waterways provide the ideal Wyoming setting for ranching and outdoor lifestyle. Home
to much of our rich western history, Cody is surrounded by many scenic vistas from the mountains of Yellowstone and the
Absaroka peaks to the endless open range of the Bighorn Basin. This area is ideal for the outdoor enthusiast with camping,
hiking, fishing, boating, hunting, whitewater rafting, golfing and many winter activities. Founded in 1896 by that most
authentic representative of the Old West, Col. William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody, this community of old and new reflects the
vision of its founder. Testaments to the Legacy of “Buffalo Bill” Cody are the museums established in Cody.
